Morning at School - Awkward Glances

The school corridors buzzed with the usual chaos, but Shinchan's mind was anything but usual. Last night's text from Kazama replayed in his head over and over, making his stomach twist in ways he didn't want to admit.

He shoved his hands in his hoodie pockets and tried to act nonchalant, but then - he saw him. Kazama, calm and collected, standing by his locker, books perfectly aligned, hair just so, giving off that "I don't need anyone, yet I notice everything" vibe.

Their eyes met for a split second, and then Shinchan panicked, looking away too quickly. But the heat in his cheeks betrayed him. Kazama, however, didn't look embarrassed. He just gave a tiny, knowing smile before opening his locker as if nothing had happened.

Even walking to class felt heavy. Every glance Shinchan stole in Kazama's direction was met with a cool, unreadable stare, and every time, his heart thudded a little too fast.

Lunch Break - Teasing and Defense

The cafeteria was alive with chatter and clattering trays. Shinchan tried to slink into a corner, but his friends weren't about to let him hide.

"Hey Shinchan, still daydreaming about your 'mystery texter'?" one of them teased.

"Yeah, spill! Who's making you all blushy and flustered?" another chimed in.

Shinchan's face turned crimson. "It's... none of your business!" he muttered, glaring but feeling powerless.

That's when Kazama walked in with his friends. Calm, poised, and suddenly, all the teasing noises seemed to hush a bit. One of his classmates smirked and whispered to Shinchan, "Looks like he's here for you."

The teasing continued, louder this time. But instead of Shinchan getting flustered alone, Kazama calmly spoke up:

"Stop it. Leave him alone. He doesn't owe you anything."

The cafeteria went silent. Shinchan froze, staring at Kazama in disbelief. He didn't expect him to stand up like that. His heart, already racing, skipped another beat.

After School - Under the Banyan Tree

The sun was dipping low as the school emptied. Shinchan found himself walking toward the old banyan tree, the same place where he and Kazama had shared stolen glances before. And there he was, leaning against the trunk, quiet as ever.

"Hey," Shinchan said, voice unsure.

"Hey," Kazama replied, tilting his head just slightly.

There was a pause, thick with unspoken words. Shinchan's nerves got the better of him, and he shuffled on his feet.

"I... I still don't really get what you meant in your text," Shinchan admitted, finally blurting it out.

Kazama's eyes softened just a fraction, and he said, "You don't have to say it. I think... you already know."

Their hands brushed accidentally. Kazama felt a jolt of electricity. He wanted to pull away, but he couldn't. Shinchan's steady gaze held him in place.

And in that moment, neither needed words. The confession hung in the air between them, silent but clear, a promise of something neither was ready to fully name yet.

Kazama's heart raced, a mix of fear and excitement, and Shinchan... well, Shinchan's calm demeanor seemed to hide just as much as it revealed.

The banyan tree swayed gently in the evening breeze, a silent witness to the first step of something slowly, irresistibly unfolding.
