Chapter 20 - Shit

01:19, 11 May 2019

The next morning, Slash woke up to Jen by his side, and it felt nothing but right.

He rested there, rolling over so that he was facing her again. Fine, maybe he watched the beautiful, sweet girl sleep for just a little bit.

She looked so cute and peaceful with her eyes closed, and she looked even younger nestled up in the sheets.

Slash felt himself smile, god he loved Sunday mornings. He didn't have to set an alarm and he could just spend time relaxing.

Jen stirred a little, so Slash cuddled her close again so she could wake up and be in his arms.

Finally the brunette opened her eyes. "Morning  Slash."

"Morning you little sleepyhead." He kissed the top of her forehead.

"I didn't sleep that late!" Jen protested with a light laugh.

"No you didn't, I just like messing with you."

Jen just smiled, and they laid like that for a bit until Slash realized they should probably get up and get clothes on because the boys would be up soon.

He sat up, and the younger girl followed. Both of them put on yesterday's clothes and then headed downstairs, hoping for some peace and quiet before the munchkins woke up.

"Coffee?" The guitarist asked, as he brewed a cup for himself.

Jen shook her head. "I don't really drink coffee, haven't gotten into that habit yet."

"Okay babe."

He looked over to see Jen blush a little.

"Slash...."

"Do you want something for breakfast? I was going to make pancakes."

"That sounds amazing. Can I help?"

"Of course. You can also help me keep the munchkins occupied when they inevitably wake up."

Jen nodded, helping Slash pick ingredients out of the pantry. She was glad Slash knew his way around the kitchen because she was just a college student and didn't really know how to cook anything.

The guitarist added things to the batter and Jen helped him mix it up. She had kind of felt like she was his girlfriend this morning.

Maybe he will ask me soon, she thought wistfully. But maybe he won't, maybe we will just stay this little secret for a while.

Just then Slash's phone started ringing from the other side of the kitchen, he glanced at it, but figuring it was no one important, he let it go to voicemail.

It was far away from him anyway and he didn't want to burn the food.

Oh well. If it was important enough whoever it was would call again.

He turned back to the stove, flipping a couple of pancakes, these ones were chocolate chip for Cash and London, chocolate chip pancakes were the best!

"Jen can you hand me the blueberries?"

"Yeah, are they in the fridge?"

Slash nodded, and Jen opened his huge stainless steel fridge to lurk around for the blueberry container. Ah hah, she found them and brought them over to Slash, who sprinkled them in the pancakes he had just put on the burner.

"Cutie, you have flour on your nose, let me get it." He laughed.

Jen almost lost it because he just called her a cutie! But jesus christ, how did she manage to get flour on her??

She swiped at her face, hoping that would get rid of it. "Did I get it?"

Slash shook his head, and then leaned in to kiss her nose. "I'm kidding, you got it, but I just wanted an excuse to kiss your face."

The brunette could help her wide smile. "You're so cute." She blushed again and looked down at the ground.

This was the perfect moment, Slash swallowed his nerves to ask the question he'd been waiting to ask for days. He wanted her to be his.

While they looked at each other, the guitarist knew he had to do it now, otherwise he'd miss his shot. "Jen-"

Immediately, the doorbell rang and his phone started ringing again. His heart dropped. Of course, they always get interrupted, how could he forget. Now he had to wait for another cute moment to ask her.

Then he realized, Jen was still waiting because he'd said her name.

"-could you get the door for me?"

She nodded, their moment was gone. She hurried down the stairs of Slash's huge house and took a deep breath as she opened the door. It was nine am, who could possibly be here?

He looked longingly at her as she had to leave his side, and then debated going over to check his Nokia, but he'd missed the call already.

Oh well, Jen could tell him who it was, he went back to flipping pancakes.

He heard the door open downstairs, maybe Steven had showed up unannounced, he has done that before.

Jen stood frozen, no words as she stood in the doorway.

Staring back at her was a woman who looked much older than her, and was much taller. She had deep reddish brown hair that was perfectly curled in waves and tumbled down past her shoulders. She wore a designer blazer, big hoop earrings, fancy sunglasses, and platform heels.

Jen immediately froze. Was this the infamous Perla? Before she could say anything, the older lady spoke first.

"Who the hell are you?"

"Uh, I'm Slash's babysitter, I watch the boys, uh, would you like to come in?"

"Yes I'd like to come into my own damn house. Now, where is Slash? Is he home?"

Jen wished she wasn't so intimidated by this woman, but she just stepped aside to let her in. This was the woman who broke Slash's heart and Jen just felt powerless and naive in the older woman's presence. Even though all she wanted to do was tell Perla off for being such a bitch, she couldn't do anything but stand there dumbfounded and a little frozen.

"Uh, he's upstairs," Jen pointed upward. Slash heard Perla's distinct voice from the entryway and he immediately turned off the stove, rushing downstairs to save Jen from how awkward that was. Suddenly he felt guilty for doing things with Jen, realizing that he definitely didn't want his babysitter and his ex-wife to meet. Hopefully he could get downstairs quick enough.

Perla was lecturing Jen as he scrambled down the staircase. "I called before, but he didn't pick up-"

"Sorry Perla, I'm here, what do you want?" Slash hoped that he could calm this down, it definitely looked bad having someone else in the house, and the boys weren't even up, Perla was going to go off on him, he knew it.

Jen just stepped back, wanting to know what was going on, but torn because she definitely felt like she should leave. This seemed like a private matter....

"Who is this whore in my house?" Perla gestured toward Jen, glaring at Slash accusingly.
