Ch. 13 - Finally be okay

Everyone looked far and wide for the meme guardian. Three looked desperate for his lover in the forest, going left and right, in every direction shouting out four's name as tears blurred his vision from time to time.

"Four! Four please, come out! E-Everything will be okay, I promise just please.."

Swag and Chris appeared with many military men behind, swag filling them in on with what happened earlier.

"Alright men, make sure to check out this forest throughly leaving no part of this forest unchecked. We are looking for smg4, find him."

"Smg3!" Meggy called, catching her breath from all the running; bent down with her hands gripping her knees.

Three looked back; seeing the military men all spreading out in the forest.

"These guys will look for him here, how about we go out and see if he's in the city..?"

Three hesitated for a second.

"Three," Meggy said firmly, placing her hand on three's shoulder, getting three's full attention.

"We will find him, I promise."

He took a breath, slightly smiling as best he could by Meggy's reassurance.

"We will find him faster if we just keep calm and think of any possible place four could be. Saiko should be here soon with the car I asked her to get for us."

Then just like Meggy said, saiko appeared.

"W-where am I...?" He asked himself.

He observed his surroundings, and it looked like he was in space, stars brightly covering the sky , it looked so beautiful to him.

He looked down and saw he was standing on a staircase, the stairs leading towards what seemed to be a big white glowing portal.

'Woah... a portal?'

Curious, he slowly began to walk up the stairs, staring at the portal, feeling this tingly sensation which felt like the portal was already sucking him in.

He stopped, nervous as he saw something begin to step out of the portal.

"You shouldnt be here," The figure suddenly said, "At least not yet, you still have a life to live you know."

Smg4's eyes widen, "Axol..?"

Axol smiled, "Yep, it's me."

"Wait- wait if- if you're here.. am I dead..?"

"Oh, no, not yet. You're at the verge of death if you get what I mean, you're still alive just knocked out unconscious."

"On the verge of death?"

"Yeah, you kinda got into a car accident, a pretty bad one."

"Oh..."

"If you walk up on up here and enter the portal then you'll be really dead and you'll end up resting up here."

Smg4's heart skipped a beat, he felt goosebumps on his arms and all around his body begin to form; felt a slight gust of cold air pass him.

"So.. I can choose?"

"Well I guess so, if you walk back down into the portal behind you," four turned around and noticed there was indeed another portal behind him, "you'll wake up in your body again."

Four stood quiet, thinking about this whole situation.

'If I walk up I'll be dead.. and I'll be able to rest.'

'What's the point of me being back down there.. I'm nothing but a hot mess.'

He sighed softly, slowly putting his foot up then the other.

"Woah wait what are you doing?" Axol asked with slight panic in his voice.

"...What if I choose to go up? I mean, I wouldn't be alone anyways, you're up here..."

"Smg4, it's not your time yet. You still have your life to live, you still have to be down there-"

"WHATS THE POINT OF ME BEING DOWN THERE?!"

His sudden outburst had surprised axol.

"W-what's the point..?! Axol please, I can't do it anymore.. I'm so tired, of myself, of everything... I can't stand myself anymore I just-"

Four brought his hands together and placed them against his chest as he began to cry, axol eyeing him, feeling upset seeing his friend breaking down.

"I'm so weak.. I'm not myself anymore I'm not strong anymore. I hate when I cry, I hate when my mind won't shut up, I hate how I'm just a burden. I-I'm so sick of myself.. I just want it all to stop I can't-"

Smg4 fell down to his knees and buried his face into the palm of his hands, letting every single drop of his tears out.

Axol couldn't just stand and stare, he quietly walked down and sat down in front of his friend, placing his hand on smg4's shoulder in a comforting manner.

"..I know you're struggling, and I know it's tough but, things will get better. I know that might sound hard to believe but i promise you it will."

Smg4 stayed quiet, his cries quieting down as axol continued to comfort him.

"You know, I've been watching from up here, and I've seen how things have been going down there with you and our friends, surprised me a lot to see you and smg3 get together."

Four rubbed his eyes with his knuckles, sadly looked up at axol.

"I've seen how you guys interacted and how you guys really felt for one another, he really does love you, you know? He was really upset when you broke up with him, and I'm not shaming you for what you did but just imagine what he'd feel when you're not alive anymore.."

Smg4 sniffled, "I-I didn't mean to do that, I just thought it would be best.."

"Yeah I know why you felt the need to do that, but listen to me; do you love him? Like really love him?"

"..I do.. I do love him, I didn't mean to hurt him I would never want to do that.."

"He loves you just as much, instead of doing things depending on how you feel at the moment, why not talk things out with him? He would never shame you or make you feel bad about yourself for saying how you feel, I know he just wants to help you and that's what he really wants to do because he loves you."

Smg4 stayed quiet again, really thinking about axol's words.

"You could never be annoying or a burden by telling people how you really feel and what you need, and I know three would reassure you about that."

"..."

"Smg3 needs you four, and our friends. I know everyone would be devastated if you were gone, especially three."

Four began to think of three, thinking about the times they've spent together. The moment when three finally confessed to him, the cuddling, the hand-holding, his comforting voice and hugs, he felt so loved when he was held by the other meme guardian.

The moment he himself had started to develop feelings was scary for him, he doubted it would work, and the doubt went away in time but he never really believed three felt something for him, and that all changed that one night he chased after him when he tried to run off again.

They've gone a long way together, from hating one another to being friends and now not being able to not love one another.

He missed him a lot already, how much he now regrets saying he couldn't do it anymore, he honesty can't go on in life without having his lover by his side.

"...Have you reconsidered this four?" Axol asked, hoping smg4 wouldn't stay.

"Yeah.. yeah I have. I'm going to go back, you're right, three needs me and I need him.."

That brought a soft smile on axol's face, "I'm so glad you've decided to go back, you still have a long way to go down there before you can come up here."

Smg4 got back up on his feet, wiped away his tears and took a deep breath.

"It was nice seeing you by the way, I honestly missed talking to you and our other friends. I'll see you soon okay? Just not too soon I hope-"

Four softly smiled, "Thank you axol, see you soon.."

...

"What on earth happened here?" Meggy asked, slowing down the car.

In front of them happened to be a truck slammed against a van while the front of the van was crushed into another car.

There was yellow tape around the scene with an ambulance parked to the side and many police cars surrounding the place.

Smg3 quickly got irritated, "We don't have time for this! Why can't people just pay attention to the road? It's honestly not that difficult!"

Meggy was about to reverse the car until something caught her eye.

"Let's just turn around Meggy we need to find him."

He looked down on his phone and stared at the many calls he tried to make, and the many unread messages he had sent to four. He frowned, trying not to get too worked up as he suddenly thought about kaizo.

"Once we go back I swear I'm going to kill that.. that demon bastard."

"Ummm, smg3..?"

He pulled his eyes away from his phone and looked over at Meggy, seeing her eyes glued to what was happening in front of them.

He looked, trying to figure out what has Meggy staring in shock.

His eyes slowly widening at the sight, two paramedics carrying a gurney with the blue meme guardian laying down on top, his lover all bruised up and hurt.

He couldn't just stay in the car any longer, immediately he opened the car door and booked it; running towards the hurt meme guardian. The police officers tried to stop him but he was able to dodge them. Tears threaten to escape as he was now able to access his lover, his heart accelerating in so much panic and pain.

The paramedics let three ride along with their patient in the ambulance, soon knowing he happened to be four's boyfriend. It took three a second to respond when they asked him who he was to the meme guardian who laid unconsciously on the gurney, he couldn't say he was a friend or someone who knew four, it pained him a lot more with what four had said.. but he didn't care.

"I'm- I'm his boyfriend! We are boyfriends.."

He squeezed four's hand, tears streaming down his face as he watched four lay still.

He can't and won't let him go, no matter what.

Meggy had texted smg3, letting him know she was driving behind them.

When they all have made it to the hospital, he was stopped by Meggy, allowing the paramedics to take smg4 in.

"He's going to be okay three I promise. Let's just relax and sit in the waiting room okay?"

He listened and followed Meggy and saiko. Saiko had called swag to call off the search for they have already found him, and she sent out messages about smg4's wellbeing.

'Smg4 is in the hospital,' her messaged started, 'We don't have an update yet on how he's doing but the good thing is we've found him.'

Kaizo stared at the message saiko sent out, feeling this gut-wrenching guilt inside his chest.

He kept thinking how he thought it was just a harmless joke, not knowing that it would lead to this situation smg4 is in. He didn't know smg4 wasn't mentally stable enough, but then again it wasn't even something to joke with in the first place.

Mario rushed to get to the hospital once he received the message, Luigi and the others in their group following behind worried and some confused about four being held in the hospital.

...

A few hours had passed and now the whole gang was in the waiting room, waiting to hear how the meme guardian was doing.

Every minute smg3 got more and more restless, anxious and irritated that he had to wait a while before hearing from the doctors who were attending to smg4. He tried not to think of the worst, he couldn't take the image he had of injured four in his mind out, it pained him a lot seeing his precious four hurt and unconscious.

Tari was sitting by Meggy and smg3; Tari and Meggy trying their best to reassure smg3 it would all be okay and to try and relax as they saw him get more and more impatient.

Mario had eventually fallen asleep, leaning his head on his brother's shoulder, Bob and boopkins playing a board game as they were getting bored of waiting, and at the same time Bob trying to cheer up boopkins from all the worrying he was doing about smg4.

Then a female doctor had walked in, immediately catching three's attention.

"Hello, are you guys here for smg4?"

Meggy nodded, "Yes- we all are! How is he doc..?" Everyone turned their heads towards the doctor, three's heart skipping a beat as he anxiously waited for her answer.

"Good news, he's doing just fine, just a bit woozy but he's going to be okay. No extreme injuries, just a few stitches to the face."

Everyone let out a sigh of relief, three being close to tears as he was so relieved that his lover was okay.

"We're so glad to hear that.. is he awake yet?" Meggy asked.

"Oh yeah he is, remember he's a bit out of it so we can allow only one person at a time to to go in and see him, that way we don't overwhelm him."

Meggy turned to look at three, "You should go in and see him."

Three looked back at her, "A-are you sure?"

"Yes I'm sure, you deserve to go in first and make things right, you guys are perfect for each other."

He softly smiled, quietly said his gratitude and went off to go see him. The doctor had told him which room was holding four before he booked it.

"But Mario wants to see smg4!" Mario whined.

"Don't worry Mario you will get to see him, after three's turn it'll be your turn."

Mario sighed, "Okay.." and continued to sit still.

With three, he had had reached the room, took a moment to composure himself and opened the door. He peaked inside before entering completely, and then he saw him. Four's head was turned the other way, looking out the window as he laid there, his chest rising up and down slowly which made three happy to see that he's breathing indicating he is alive.

He quietly closed the door and walked on over towards the bed. Lucky for him there was a chair right next to four's side so he carefully took it and sat down, catching four's attention.

"O-oh... hey three..." Four nervously said. Three lunged his hand forward, being careful as he grabbed a hold of four's hand; surprising four in the process.

".. you idiot." He said with a soft smile as tears welled up in his eyes, "I'm so glad you're okay... you fucking scared me to death."

"I-I'm sorry I didn't- I didn't mean to.."

"No don't be sorry, you have nothing to be sorry about four."

"But I do.. I ran off which was stupid and got myself into 'this' mess.."

"It's not your fault, it can never be your fault for what happened, nothing can ever be your fault okay? Things just tend to happen."

Smg4 frowned, looking away for a second.

"...Im sorry I'm such a mess."

Three got up carefully as he loomed over four. He brought their interlocked hands over four's chest and brought her other hand up to softly brush four's hair out of his face.

He carefully leaned in and captured four's lips with his own, four quickly melting into it.

The purple guardian pulled away and stared into four's blue eyes, giving him a genuine smile.

"I can be a mess too, you can deny it but I know we can all be a mess sometimes but that's okay. You struggle four, everyone does, but that's nothing to be ashamed of. You can tell me a million times that something bothers you and I won't ever get tired of being by your side, and doing my best on helping you out."

Four felt his eyes begin to water, he tightened his grip on three's hand as he admired the man looking down at him. He felt this warm gentle feeling in his heart, this feeling of relief and feeling safe that three was here and he wasn't mad at him nor judging the blue meme guardian.

"I'm your partner, your friend, your shoulder to cry on, you aren't ever alone four I'm here, I'm always going to be here for you. Give me all your problems, no matter what we face, we will face them together.."

He couldn't hold in it, tears coming once again for the blue meme guardian, he wrapped his arms around Smg3's neck and brought him into a hug, causing three to hug his lover back.

He had his face buried into three's shoulder, carefully lifted his face up to be able to talk.

"I just felt like I didn't deserve you because you do so much for me.. even if you don't realize it, you truly do three. I'm sorry for doubting myself, for being so negative of myself, I don't mean to.."

"..it's going to be okay four, I'm here. I'll help you, I'll help you get through them, I won't give up on reassuring that my love for you is endless and nothing can ever change that. You're my other half, you're everything to me, and you literally have no choice you and me are stuck together no matter what."

That last sentence made four giggle, sniffling slightly as he clung onto three a little tighter. It brought a smile on three's face hearing him giggle, it was adorable and he loved that he was the cause of it.

".. I love you four, always will."

"..I love you too three, thank you for everything.."

"...soooo does this mean we can be boyfriends again? Even if you say no you have no choice you're stuck with me."

He giggled again, "of course three, I'm all yours."

They stayed in each other's embrace, three making sure he was careful not to hurt him since he still had to be gentle with him.

That was the first time ever where he felt this strong feeling in him, this strong sense of confidence that he hasn't felt in a long while, having a strong feeling that everything will truly be okay.

Everything between him and three will be okay,

and that he will finally be okay.

(Author notes): I'm sorry for such a long wait again I've been procrastinating sm it's not fun at all 😭 I hope this is a good final chapter for you guys, if I have that motivation again ill maybe write another chapter like a epilogue I guess, a lil smth on four officially healing and like the process I guess if I make sense BUT anyways I had fun writing this so thank you so much for reading and all your comments!
