Chapter 60

( A/n: Part 3 of Twinsanity )

Meryl and Onyx were in the Great Hall with Stoick, Gobber, and Dagur as they were having their feast, Meryl was trying to stay away from the Berserker chief to get a break from him hitting on her, and Onyx was trying to help keep his friend calm. Hiccup then walked in the Great Hall.

Onyx: ( whispers, to Hiccup: ) Did you get Barf and Belch under control?

Hiccup: Working on it.

Meryl: ( whispers, to Onyx and Hiccup: ) I am mentally praying that Dagur signs that treaty soon, he won't stop hitting on me even though I made it clear I'm taken and not interested.

Hiccup: Excuse me, Mery, Dagur has been wha-

Dagur: ( raises his mug ) A toast! To death in battle!

Gobber: ( raised his mug ) To your father! Oswald the Agreeable!

Many Berkians raised their mugs in agreement.

Dagur: ( annoyed: ) Fine, whatever! " To Oswald! To Oswald! To Oswald! " Bladady,  Bladady, blah! Ugh!

Gobber: Well, on that cheery note, shall we sign the treaty and send you on your way?

Dagur: Great idea! Let's sign that treaty.

Meryl and Onyx both let out a sigh of relief.

Dagur: Bring us the dragon's blood!

Meryl, Hiccup, and Onyx's eyes widened.

Meryl: Did... Did he just say " dragon's blood "?

Stoick: Heh, heh. Don't be ridiculous, Dagur. Your father and I haven't signed the treaty in dragon's blood for years.

Dagur: Why would that be a problem, Stoick? Unless, of course, you don't kill dragons anymore.

Stoick: We still kill dragons.

Meryl: ( trying to support Stoick's statement to keep the peace, to Dagur: ) You see, Dagur, the problem is, we've killed so many, there isn't a dragon within two hundred miles-

Barf and Belch then stormed in, alarming the Berserkers.

Gobber: Except that one.

Meryl: ( frustrated: ) You have got to be kidding me!!

Dagur: The Zippleback! It's a sign. A head for each Chief! It's going to be amazing! Tonight, we hunt dragon!

The Berserkers then began chanting " kill " in excitement, they went to prepare for the hunt.

Stoick: ( to Hiccup: ) You need to find that Zippleback before he does.

Then suddenly Mrs. Thorston ran into the Great Hall and to Stoick, panicked.

Mrs. Thorston: Stoick!

Stoick: ( to Mrs. Thorston: ) What's wrong?

Onyx: If it's about Barf and Belch, we already know.

Mrs. Thorston: No! It's Tida, she fell asleep and somehow sneaked out of the house as a dragon when we weren't looking and- Wait, ( puts her hands on her hips ) what about my kids' zippleback?

Hiccup: Barf and Belch are on the lose, and we're trying to find the twins, but Tuff said that he'd went to his dark, soggy, alone place. That could be anywhere-

Mrs. Thorston: No, that's actually only one place. It's the lost cavern. Ruff and Tuff used to go there to play hide and go kill with Snotlout when they were kids.

Hiccup: Oh, thank Thor. And Thank you, Mrs. Thorston. Me and the riders will go find them before Dagur and the Berserkers could find Barf and Belch. Meryl, Onyx,-

Meryl: Don't worry, we'll find Tida.

Hiccup: And stay away from Dagur, Mery- I mean, you two.

( Meanwhile with Tida )

Little dragon Tida was in the woods with Kitty, playing. She sticks her head in one of the new holes to the whispering death tunnels and sees Kitty hiding in it with a purr.

Tida: Peek-a-boo!

She then turned her head when she heard footsteps behind her, and saw Meryl and Onyx.

Meryl: There you are, Tida!

Onyx: It seems like all three Thorston siblings are hiding today. ( sees the hole ) Wait, is that-

Kitty poked his head out of the hole, and protectively glared at Meryl and Onyx, but it quickly calmed down when Tida nuzzled his head.

Tida: Kitty!

Onyx: It came back.

Meryl: For her... Aw. Oh, Thor, Toothless isn't going to be happy about this-

Tida then blew a raspberry when Meryl said the night fury's night.

Onyx: I have a feeling, that Tida doesn't care if Toothless likes it or not.

Meryl: ( chuckled at the Scalewalker toddler's cuteness ) I think you're right, Onyx. Wait a minute... I think I know how we can save Barf and Belch, and this chaotic duo ( gestures to Tida and Kitty ) are involved.

Tida cutely tilts her head to the side at Meryl, and Kitty copies the toddler.

( Slight Time Skip )

Meryl and Onyx met up with the dragon riders outside the Arena as Stoick and the Berserkers were inside with Barf and Belch inside, the Zippleback was restrained. Meryl was holding Tida in her arms with a smile.

Hiccup: ( to Meryl and Onyx: ) Oh, thank goodness you two found Tida. Listen we have a plan how to save Barf and Belch without Dagur finding out we ride dragons-

Meryl: Let me guess, fake dragon attack?

The Viking teens looked at Meryl with shock.

Hiccup: How did you-

Meryl: Because me and Onyx thought of the same thing...sorta.

Onyx: And it involves Tida.

The Viking teens looked at the two Scalewalker teens with confusion.

Onyx: Just go, you'll see.

All of the riders, except Meryl ran into the arena when Dagur was about to strike at Barf and Belch.

Hiccup: HELP! DRAGON ATTACK!

Astrid: The dragons are attacking! Run for your lives!

Onyx: We gotta get out of here!

Hookfang then came to the arena from above, and blasted fire at the Berserkers when Snotlout signaled him to.

Gobber: ( confused: ) What is going on?

Onyx: ( to Gobber, elbowing his side: ) Dad, dragon attack.

Gobber: Oh. Dragon attack! Everyone out of here!

Stormfly and Meatlug flew into the arena through the entrance, and their riders, who were hidden from the Berserkers, gave them hand signals to attack, making Stormfly to shot spines, and Meatlug to tackle one of the Berserkers. Fáfnir then lands on top of the arena, Onyx secretly gave him the hand signal to roar, which the Boneknapper did so.

Gobber: We must protect our honored guests!

Dagur: Run if you want, but Dagur the Deranged will not retreat.

Meryl: ( with a mischievous smile ) ( silently: ) We'll see about that. Now, let's release the Thorston Toddler.

Meryl then lets Tida go, and Tida flew into the arena at the same time as Dagur was preparing to kill Barf and Belch with his sword. Tida then took the sword away from the Berserker chief, before she tossed it into the air and bat it to the wall with her tail, making the blade of the sword shatter into different pieces.

All the dragon riders, except Onyx and Meryl: ( thoughts: ) They weren't kidding about what they said about how strong a SeaDiver's tail is.

The twins then began taking turns commanding their Zippleback when the dragon was free. Barf complied to Ruffnut's command to spew gas, and spewed the green gas out in front of Dagur, and Belch immediately sparked the gas after Tuffnut commanded him to, sending Dagur to fly backwards. The twins continued taking turns giving hand signals to their Zippleback to fight off the Berserkers. Then the twins gave their dragon the signal to leave, and they did so.

Dagur tried to throw a spear at the Zippleback, but, luckily, Toothless caught it in his mouth and broke it in half.

Dagur: Whoa! A Night Fury! They do exist!-

Tida then lets out a loud and cute " chirp ", and as soon as it was let out, Kitty flew into the arena, and went in front of, not only Tida, but he went in front of Toothless as well, he glared and growled at Dagur protectively, Toothless looked up at the Whispering Death with confusion as to why it was protecting him.

Dagur: Whoa! What is that thing?!

Meryl then ran into the arena, she and Hiccup then went to Dagur's side, Hiccup was holding a dagger and a shield, and looking at the Scalewalker toddler and the two dragons.

Meryl: Back!

Hiccup: Back, you...fiends, you! You'll not harm our friend Dagur.

Hiccup " accidentally " hits Dagur with his shield, distracting the Berserker chief so he could signal Toothless to fire a plasma blast, which the night fury did, and Kitty pretends to act aggressively to the couple by roaring at them.

Meryl: Please, Dagur, save yourself. You owe it to your people!

Dagur: Berserkers, to the boats!

The Berserkers willingly complied and ran off.

Gobber: ( to Dagur: ) What about the treaty?

Dagur looked at the chaos, and Kitty gave him a death glare, scaring the Berserker chief.

Dagur: Consider it signed!

Dagur then ran off to the docks with his men. As soon as the Berserkers left the island, the dragons stopped " attacking ". Tida laughed happily and hugged Kitty's massive head, making him purr.

Stoick: ( to Hiccup: ) Well done, Hiccup. I doubt we'll be seeing much more of Dagur the Deranged.

Hiccup: Let's hope not.

Meryl: Thank Thor, that's over.

Gobber: Is nobody going to talk about the Whispering Death that has returned to the island after you chased it off?

Onyx: It came back to Tida. Apparently, his bond with her is stronger than a grudge.

Toothless then walked to Kitty, and the two glared at each other, before Tida went in between them and gave them a small growl, the two dragons then decided to try to get along for Tida's sake.

Ruffnut: That's our sister!

Tuffnut: They grow up so fast.

Tida: ( nuzzled Kitty's head: ) Kitty!

( Later that evening )

Tida was now a human and was playing with Kitty, Goofball, and Evergreen outside the Arena while the Riders were cleaning up the mess.

Astrid: ( to the group: ) Are we sure it's a good idea for Tida to keep the whispering death?

Snotlout: I still think Dagur's cool!-

As soon as Kitty heard this, he flew in and pinned Snotlout to the wall before the twins could signal their Zippleback to attack him. The twins smiled at the whispering death as Kitty flew back to Tida and continued playing with her and Meryl's dragons, being careful to not hurt them.

Astrid: Nevermind.

Tuffnut: Now, there's just one last thing we have to do.

( Slight Time Skip, at the Thorstons house )

Mrs. Thorston was hanging up laundry when she saw the twins, Tida, Barf and Belch, and the Whispering Death behind her, all three of her kids giving her the " can we keep it? " look with the Whispering Death sitting on the ground beside Tida like a snake.

Mrs. Thorston: Oh, no. I said no to keeping it before and-

Tida then gave her adoptive mother a sad whine and hugged the Whispering Death's head, giving her the puppy dog eyes with a pout.

Mrs. Thorston: ( sighs in defeat ) Fine. But, it has to behave, that means no making holes in the village or in the house.

Tida smiled happily as the twins high fived each other. Kitty purred and nuzzled Tida's side, the toddler hugged his head in response.
