Chapter 39

( A/n: Dragon Flower Part 3 )

Onyx, Gobber, Stoick, Hiccup, and Mildew are on a ship with baskets full of the blue oleander. Onyx was staying far away from the baskets. Hiccup was surprised to see Mildew.

Gobber: ( whispers, to Hiccup: ) You have Onyx to thank, he somehow got Mildew to not only join the crew, but he also convinced the old man to dig up all those flowers. Makes sense.

When the ship left the docks, Mildew kept muttering and complaining the whole time.

Onyx: ( under his breath, angrily, in dragon: ) Oh, Thor, give me the strength to not throw this old wild animal off the boat and into the ocean.

Once they were out in the open sea, Mildew's complaints became louder.

Mildew: Well, this is an outrage! I dug up the flowers! I did my part!

Stoick: We're all out here because of you, Mildew. If we all have to put our lives at risk, then so do you!

Mildew: You have no proof, Stoick! You can't blame me every time something goes amiss with your precious dragons-

Onyx then chuckled before pulling the Zippleback feet and Monstrous Nightmare claw from behind a shield that was next to him, and showed it for everyone to see, while the Vikings were confused, Hiccup and Mildew were in shock.

Onyx: Actually, Mildew, we can. These are the Zippleback feet and the Monstrous Nightmare claw you used to frame the dragons. Also, when I was herb hunting this morning, I remembered something.... I saw you take the boots, and make the fake tracks leading to Barf and Belch, so.... I advise you shut up and pay the price of your actions, unless... You want to learn how to swim.

Mildew said nothing due to shock. While Hiccup and Stoick were impressed, and Gobber...

Gobber: Clever lad....

Onyx: I got it from my mom.

Gobber: Alright, Stoick. What's the plan?

Stoick looked at Hiccup and Onyx, then grabs a bucket and gave it to Hiccup as he begins giving instructions.

Stoick: Hiccup, when Gobber and I secure the Scauldron's head, Onyx will wedge it's jaws open. We'll need you to-

Hiccup: Drain the poison into this bucket.  Got it. Let's get started.

Hiccup gets a basket of blue oleander, and brought it close to the edge of the deck.

Hiccup: This is what Scauldrons eat. It'll draw them to the boat.

Onyx: Remind me to thank them for getting rid of the blue death. ( Under his breath: ) Maybe we can feed Mildew to them.

Mildew: ( to Onyx: ) What?

Onyx: Oh, nothing.

Hiccup then scattered the blue oleander in the water.

( A couple hours later )

There was no Scauldron in sight.

Mildew: Bah! This is not working! ( While Mildew was talking, an annoyed Onyx can be seen with the Monstrous Nightmare claw in his hands and was going to hit Mildew with it, but Gobber stopped him ) It was a stupid idea, to begin with!

Hiccup glared at Mildew and was going to go give Mildew a piece of his mind, but Stoick stopped him. Gobber took the Monstrous Nightmare claw away from Onyx. Onyx then sees a Scauldron in the water.

Stoick: Easy, Hiccup, that's not why we're here.

Onyx: But, that is. ( Points at the Scauldron in the water )

Stoick: Scauldron!

The Scauldron then poked its head out of the water, showing off its razor-sharp teeth.

Gobber: I may need to change my skivvies again.

Hiccup: We need to lure the Scauldron on deck!

Onyx: Nope! I ain't going near the blue oleander, even if it's in a basket. I got another idea, but it might be crazy!

Onyx grabbed some rope and lassoed the Scauldron's horn and pulled the dragon's head on the deck, using all of his strength to keep it on the deck.

Onyx: Gobber! Stoick! Help me out here!!! Let's use the mask to open it's mouth!-

The Scauldron then goes into the water, taking Onyx with it.

Gobber: ONYX!!

The Scauldron then pops its head out of the water, with Onyx on it's head, wrestling the large dragon.

Onyx: ( to the Scauldron, in dragon: ) BRING IT ON, WILD ANIMAL!!

Mildew: That boy is out of his mind!

Gobber: He really did used to be Alvin's son.

Stoick and Hiccup nod their heads in agreement with shock expressions. Onyx then grabbed its horn and dragged the Scauldron back on the deck, using the mask to wedge it's mouth open. Gobber, Hiccup, and Stoick quickly went to help Onyx keep the Scauldron on deck.

Stoick: Mildew! Grab the bucket!

Mildew: HOLD ON! It's one thing for me to-

Onyx: GRAB THE BUCKET OR I'LL BE THE LAST THING YOU SEE, OLD MAN!! DON'T MAKE ME COME OVER THERE!!!

The Scauldron then began to get a blast of boiling water ready.

Stoick: Everyone take cover!

Everyone then took cover, Stoick got flicked off the ship by the large dragon's tail.

Hiccup: Dad!

Onyx: Hang on!

Onyx jumped in the water, got Stoick out of the water, and back on the boat. Onyx then saw that Mildew try to run away from the dragon, not knowing that a blue oleander was on his behind. Onyx then happily watch the Scauldron bite Mildew's butt, and Onyx's smile grew bigger as he heard the old man scream in pain. Then the Scauldron slipped back into the water and swam away.

Hiccup: He's gone.

Gobber: And you can bet the last place he's coming back to, is this ship.

Stoick: We didn't get the venom.

Onyx then snapped his fingers, gaining Gobber and the two haddocks' attention, and he points to Mildew, who was howling in pain.

Onyx: ( is enjoying seeing Mildew being in pain ) ( chuckles ) Thank you, Scauldron.

Hiccup: Yes, we did.

Mildew: Get the poison out of me!

Hiccup: Oh, we will.

Onyx: ( whispers, to Gobber, Stoick, and Hiccup: ) Is it wrong that I want to way back to be slow.

Gobber: ( sighs ) No, but Meryl needs us.

Onyx: True.

( Later at Berk )

Onyx and the riders waited outside the forge. While Stoick and Gobber were inside extracting the venom from Mildew.

Tuffnut: Can you believe we're all just standing around, waiting for something to come out of Mildew's butt?

Onyx: I'm just here to listen to the screams.

Tuffnut: ( laughs ) Agreed.

Astrid: ( to Onyx, a bit shocked by what Onyx said: ) Who are you and what did you do to Onyx?

Onyx just smiled in response as he and Tuffnut were enjoying the sounds of Mildew's screams, then Onyx's smile widens when they heard Mildew's shrieks of pain. Gobber then walked out of the forge, with the venom.

Gobber: ( to the riders: ) I've seen a Nadder's spine slice through a man's eyeball like a grape. I've watched my own arm get devoured by a Monstrous Nightmare. But never, NEVER, have I seen anything so disturbing as that's old man's behind! ( Hands the venom to Onyx ) Here. Take this to your dragons and Meryl. I'm going to the forest to scream.

Gobber then walks off.

Onyx: Way to take one for the team, Gobber! ( Sighs ) ( looks at the bottle of venom ) Now, let's make the antidote.

( Slight Time Skip, after Onyx finished making the antidote and the other dragons were cured. )

Onyx carefully gave Meryl and Evergreen the antidote, but when he turned to give the antidote to Goofball, he saw that not only that Goofball was completely fine, Goofball was currently giving him a sad worried look.

Onyx: ( to Goofball: ) What?! Goofball? You're okay? Then why did we find you unconscious when we-

Goofball whimpers and whines, and Onyx understood what the Egg biter was saying.

Onyx: Oooh. You put yourself unconscious from worry when you saw Meryl and Evergreen go unconscious.

Goofball nods his head.

Onyx: ( sighs with a smile ) It's good to see that you're okay-

Hiccup then ran into the room with Toothless behind him.

Hiccup: Are they-

Meryl groans as she and Evergreen slowly opened their eyes, as they were now cured.

Meryl: Hiccup? Onyx? What happened-

Hiccup hugs Meryl, even though she was confused, she hugged him back. Evergreen jumped on the bed, and was soon pulled into the jump by Hiccup.

Hiccup: You have no idea how scare I was.

Meryl: Clearly. What did I miss?

Onyx: ( with a smile: ) Something crazy yet amazing, that involves with Mildew being in pain in the end.

Meryl: Sounds fun.
