Dragons
08:59, 7 March 2022Have yall watched ranking of kings yet? omg its so good---
Everyone moved outside of the castle when the plan and new positions were given to us. Sanji, who'd gotten over his sulking, asked Kinemon the question of why we were going to look for Ashura Doji if he was once an enemy of Oden in the story we were told.
"That's a legitimate question. Ashura Doji mended his ways after being defeated by Oden-sama and pledged his loyalty to him. But..." Kinemon trailed off.
Okiku finished his sentence, "We heard that now under the name Shutenmaru, he became the chief of the Atamayama Thieves Brigade, and is doing wrong again."
"Hmm, a thieves brigade, huh?" Luffy piped in. "By the way, is he strong?"
Okiku responded, "Yes, perhaps it is not too much to say that he is the strongest of all samurai. As an ally, there is no other as reliable as him."
Luffy jumped off of the stone he was sitting on, a grin on his face. He probably wants to be the one to recruit him. With that description, I wouldn't be surprised if he was the only one who could do it by force.
I moved to stand beside Okiku and I nudged her side slightly. She looked at me in with curiosity. "How did you get so tall? Y'know, just asking for a friend," I asked. My head was very noticeably tilted back so I could make eye contact with her.
She laughed a bit and smiled at me, "If I knew, I would tell you."
"Well if you find out, tell me then, too. I mean, you're even taller than Robin. And Brook. Those are insane feats in my eyes. Even though I was almost married to a guy over 15 feet tall," I told her, getting a little side tracked at the end.
"It may be due to when and where I was born. Kinemon is even taller than I am. Though I don't know about the case for that man you speak of," she pointed out, letting out a laugh at the end.
I rubbed my chin and nodded, "So I guess I'm just not lucky enough to be that tall." Well, I guess I'm actually glad I wasn't born here. I would have been a baby when these guys went back in time and the country got wrecked.
My attention got pulled away from the tall woman when I heard thunder in the distance. Turning around, I could see a mass of grey clouds. The sky was clear a second ago, what's going on?
"OI! Straw Hat-ya! Come here now!" Law yelled, having seen the clouds.
Luffy turned and asked, "What's wrong Torao?" He got the answer to the question when he noticed the weird storm over the town we just left. He ran up towards the cliff that Law and his crew were standing near to get a closer look at what was going on.
Momo and Kinemon followed him, and I could see that Momo was shaking from the scene. A strong gust of wind blew our way, which was followed by purplish lightning. Momo clutched his head and accidentally switched into his dragon form.
Shinobu and Okiku expressed their confusion with this shift in appearance, which Kinemon answered with, "I will explain to you later, but his body can now change like this! Of all things... the figure of a hateful dragon!"
I walked past the Wano group, not really understanding what was going on there or how to react to that, and ran up beside Luffy, watching the clouds intently. "We're in trouble, Straw Hat-ya," Law said.
Just as he uttered those words, two huge blue claws lowered from the clouds, followed by the rest of the creature attached to it. It was a blue scaled dragon, and it was about a thousand times bigger than Momonosuke. It looked like a blue fiery Shenron with black spikes along his spine. A goth Shenron, perhaps.
"A... a dragon?" I muttered, staring at the huge creature flying above the small town.
"Things can't get any worse..." Law said. "That's...Kaido!"
"Kaido?!" Sanji repeated.
"I didn't expect for him to pop up like that!" Nami said.
"To put it frankly, we're in danger!" Shinobu followed up.
My eyes shifted behind me, specifically onto the pink dragon form of Momo. I guess now I understand their intense hatred for dragons. To think that he'd be the one to eat that duplicate dragon fruit in Caesar's lab. He just can't catch a break.
"That's... Kaido? Kaido is a dragon?" Luffy asked, his voice no longer light and happy.
"Yes... what you see before you is Kaido," Kinemon answered. "Now, why did Kaido come to Kuri all of a sudden?"
Law looked back at him, "To tell you the truth, Straw Hat-ya, Zoro-ya, Goddess-ya, and I were identified by them... But that's all they know! They don't know the plan!"
"That's all they know?!" Sanji mocked, marching over to Law and getting in his face, "What the hell were you doing, Law?!"
Law got right back in his face and yelled, "You Straw Hats don't have the right to blame me!"
"Oh, I'm sure it was Luffy's fault," Chopper commented.
I nodded, "Yea it pretty much was. Zoro's too. Definitely not mine."
Nami approached them and apologized to Law. Sanji followed suit since Nami did it first. Law just sighed and looked back at Kaido, who was still flying around the town. "He's probably... looking for me and Straw Hat-ya... The Animal Kingdom Pirates led by Kaido needs two key things to maintain their overwhelming forces. First, the weapons that Kaido is getting people to manufacture in this country. Second, the backdoor trade of the artificial Devil Fruits called SMILEs which Caesar and Doflamingo were-"
"Alright, so basically he's mad at us since we destroyed the second part of why he's a powerhouse," I summed up, cutting him off in the process. (Man im not trying to write all that)
He just nodded looked toward Luffy, "So the only ones he's coming after are... Straw Hat-ya and I."
Luffy took off before the conversation could even finish, as always, probably to protect the town from Kaido. Everyone called after him, but that didn't work obviously. When Kinemon and Nami made a move to run after him, Law yelled for them to stop, saying that since he was exposed and not everyone else, he'll go after him so that a huge hunt for the rest of our crews doesn't occur.
"Wait so that means I can go, right?" I asked.
He sighed and looked to me, "Are you going to come with me either way?"
I nodded, "Pretty much. You think I'm just gonna sit here when I was involved in this?"
"Fine, just keep up," he grunted, picking up a stone and flicking it into the forest after he activated his operation room thing. I jumped onto his back before he could move anywhere, instantly getting teleported with him to where the rock was thrown. I locked my arms and legs around him before he started trying to shake me off. "OI! Get off of me!" he shouted, running even if I was latched onto him.
I shook my head, "Shut up! Just go! This is way faster than trying to chase after your switcharoo shit!"
He grumbled and just kept running. "You are so annoying..." I heard him say.
I rolled my eyes, "Oh I'm soooo annoying that you didn't just teleport yourself out of my hands? I'm pretty sure you can do that Law. I'm pretty sure it'd be so easy for you, but instead you-" he grabbed one of my hands and stuffed a pile of pebbles into it. "Eh? What's this?"
"It's a job to make you shut up. Just keep throwing them until we get to Straw Hat-ya," he grunted.
If this is gonna get us down faster than my mouthing off is, then that's fine by me. "Alright, I'll keep it in your bubble," I agreed, flicking a pebble as far as I could while staying in his range. I continued as we descended down the mountain. It was kinda like a game if you didn't count the fact that we were in a stressful real-life situation. So I think it's better to just focus on this.
"He's ahead of us," Law pointed out, taking notice of the fact that I was spacing out.
I nodded and flicked another pebble. As soon as we teleported, I jumped off and landed in the middle of them. "Luffy!" I called for him, getting him to look back at the two of us.
"You guys! Do you think the people of Okobore Town are okay?!" Luffy asked as we sprinted down the mountain in a group.
"Idiot! You see? When a pirate does a good thing, this is what happens!" Law yelled at him.
I punched his side and said, "This really isn't the time to be nagging about our good deeds!" I looked back at Luffy and shook my head, "I don't think they're doing the best right now. Kaido keeps crashing into houses from what I can see."
My captain sighed and asked another question, "Hey, he's just coming after us, right?!"
"Yea!" Law answered.
"Then, I'll stop him!" Luffy claimed, his eyebrows furrowing further. He looked at me, "Wait! Why are you here?! Isn't he only coming after me 'n Law?!"
I nodded, "Yea, but I'll help somehow! I've already been seen, plus the town is in trouble either way! Kaido's men are probably in the town, too! I can at least take care of that!"
He gave me a firm nod and ran off. The trees cleared a little and we could see the town again. It was then that we realized where Kaido was. "Why is Kaido going that way?!" Luffy yelled.
The three of us stopped in our tracks and stared wide eyed at the scene. Kaido was facing the mountain we were almost off, his mouth open and an orange and red light shining from his open mouth. My hands slowly raised to my head to grip my hair as it happened. A fiery beam went straight toward the mountain, blowing the top half off.
The grip on my hair as I stared at the mountain. Or what was left of it. I didn't even notice when my legs gave out, making me fall to my knees. What the hell? What just happened?
I heard something break, followed by a crash. Looking up, I could see that Luffy had punched a tree down. He clenched his fists and asked again, "He's after us, right?"
"Yes, but-"
Before we could stop him, he went into gear two and left. Law yelled his name but there was no way he'd be coming back. Fuck. I should be going with him. I'm not afraid of Kaido... but... what the hell happened to the others? They couldn't have died that easily right?
"Oi! Get up! We're going after him! He's gonna ruin everything..." Law grunted, looking over to me.
My fists balled up in the dirt below me and I glared at him. I couldn't stop the words as I yelled, "Aren't you even a little worried?! I want to check on the people who could have DIED! Do you not SEE that mountain?! Your crew was up there, too!"
He frowned and pointed at the mountain, still looking at me. "It's not confirmed that they're dead! Of course, I care that they're up there, but we still have the rest of our crews to worry about in either case! Luffy is about to ruin yet another part of the plan! It could cause all of us to die!" he shouted back.
My face scrunched up and I hunched over, laying my head in my forearms, trying to regain my composure. He was right and he was thinking like a true captain, but half our crew was there. Not knowing is stressing me out. I want to believe they got away. I want to, but we're not always that lucky, sometimes people die when you don't expect it. I want to fly into some kind of blind rage and try to get back at Kaido, too, but I'm not Luffy.
"This is so... frustrating," I mumbled, squeezing my eyes shut. I could hear him walking over to me, but that stopped when I spoke again. "Just.... go get him without me. I'll catch up."
"...Alright. Make sure to show up. You'd get through to him faster than me," he said, followed by the sound of retreating footsteps.
Once I couldn't hear him anymore, I let out tears I didn't know I was holding in. Angry and frustrated tears that felt like they burned my skin. I punched the ground and huffed, standing up and wiping at my face. I hate it when this happens. My head is throbbing now. C'mon (y/n), knock outta it. It's not like multiple people you've lived with for more than a year died or anything.
I sat up and held my face for a second. Nami and the rest are fine. I just have to believe that and move, or else I'll get in the way. Now's the time for action. It doesn't matter if my head is a mess.
With that in mind, I ran down the mountain until I came across a cliff. I jumped off after climbing a tree and pushing off of it. I activated my devil fruit when I was getting close to the ground and reinforced myself with haki, slamming onto the dirt and creating a huge crater, dramatic superhero style.
Upon doing this, I drew quite a bit of attention to myself that I didn't intend to attract. It caused a couple of Kaido's men to start walking in my direction. I thought that'd be fine since I could take them out easily, but I slowly came to realize that I wasn't that fortunate. A rather tall, bandaged man started walking towards me with them. Jack. Of course. Because that's what I need right now.
"Are you getting out of my way or am I moving you myself?" I asked, dusting myself off and looking at the group.
"Neither," Jack answered shortly.
I groaned and dragged my hands down my face, "Well fuck. Alright, let's go at it."
~~~
Needless to say, do not fight a top three member of the Animal Kingdom pirates when you just had a breakdown or have zero powerups prepared. It wasn't one sided, thankfully, but I'd just prefer not to narrate it because... I'm lazy. And I passed out afterwards.
Now, back to the terrible situation at hand. I think my back is all torn up since they dragged us on the way here. Plus, I feel like shit because of these sea prism handcuffs that they put on us. Luffy's face is completely covered in bandages and he's much weaker than I am right now. Kaido beat, that's for sure. I can't believe he was unconscious the whole way over to this prison, especially with them literally dragging us. At least they were kind enough to bandage him.
"Oi! Keep it moving!" a guard yelled. My chain tugged me forward violently to punctuate that. I grumbled to myself and walked faster. I guess I was spacing out.
Soon, we were lead in front of huge doors. They creaked open and we were led into the prison. People were so quick to greet us, I almost felt flattered.
"Welcome, newcomers!" one of them said.
"You've got a lot of nerve!" another laughed out.
Luffy didn't respond to any of the taunting following that, not that he usually does, but he instead kept a slow pace as he panted from exhaustion. A very apparent glare was also set into his eyes.
"I'm surprised the person who put up a fight against Jack-sama was really a woman! I thought it was just a rumor to put him down!" one of them cackled.
Another one joined in, "Yea, she musta pulled something on him!"
"I think she's the first woman in here. She'll probably fall in a day or two," someone else said.
"At least she's nice to look at."
My eyebrow twitched, but the tug on my sea prism cuffs reminded me I wasn't going to be able to do much right now, especially with these numbers. We walked for a while more and one of the guards had the bright idea to kick Luffy down. When he is already bleeding and weakened by the sea prism.
"AHAHAHA! He's so weak!" a guy laughed out.
"Did this loser really challenge Kaido-sama?!"
A small chuckle made it past my lips at that. "Maybe take the cuffs off and try saying that again," I grunted, walking over to Luffy and helping him back up as best I could with these things on my wrists.
Next thing I knew, someone grabbed my jaw and made me look at them. It was another guard. "Who do you think you're talkin' to? You think you can talk to superiors that way?" he asked, a smirk on his face.
I spit on his face. He reeled back and a wiped it off dramatically, like it was burning his skin. Everyone around him was laughing, which only made the guy angrier. When he tried to come back at me, Luffy stumbled in front of me. Nothing came of that situation, thankfully, because the horse that was pulling us across the courtyard finally pulled my chain tight, making me jerk another direction, along with Luffy.
"Hey, these two need to go in their cells, stop stallin' 'em," the guy on the horse grunted, causing the guard to back off.
I made a face at him and continued on my way. Luffy's silent treatment, accompanied by his glare, got another guy to try to attack him. He spouted about teaching us about respecting prison guards, only to stop mid-sword-swing when fish bones came flying out of a nearby cell, stabbing him through the neck.
"Goddamn," I muttered, staring at how far the bones actually went into him. I'm surprised it didn't pop out the other side.
Eventually we were detached from the horse and led to some far away cell by two new guards. The metal door creaked open and the smaller guard said, "Alright, stay in here!" He shoved us forwards a bit.
"Until your spirit gets broken, and you bend your knee to Kaido-sama!" the bigger one followed up, shoving Luffy forward.
The smaller one put an arm around my shoulders and grinned at me, "If you behave yourself, maybe us guards will take you out of here, missy. You can come up and stay with us. That way you wouldn't have to worry about all the torture here."
I rolled my eyes and walked into the cell, "Oh fuck off. I'll be perfectly fine."
"You had your chance," he grunted. He slammed the door shut a second later.
I took a seat on the stone floor and leaned my back against the wall. "Hey... I'm gonna take a lil nap. Maybe have a nightmare about what happened today on top of that," I mumbled to Luffy, closing my eyes, not expecting a reply.
I don't think he heard me, but I could hear the ground shake a little when he punched the floor. Or I thought he did. Someone else's voice mixed with my captain's when I heard, "I'll get even with you... Kaido...!"
"Eh?"
"You...!"
I groaned and opened my eyes, squinting in the dark. "Who is it, Luffy?" I asked, wondering who he was talking to. My eyes widened when I saw Kid. The look on his face when he saw me very clearly gave the impression that he remembers who I am, too.
Great.
