Chapter 11

19:40, 23 February 2021

Natalie lay sleeping on the side of the bed in the medic tent. Her hand losing holding Sonya's. Mary was doing everything she could to save her, but her wound didn't look promising. She had lost a lot of blood.

Natalies body began to shake violently as her nightmare consumed her body. The images of Sonya laying dying on the ground repeatedly played in her mind.

Waking up slightly Sonya noticed Natalies discomfort, with the strength she had, she gently gave Natalies hand a small squeeze. Strangely, that was enough to calm down the shaking girl. Bringing her breathing back to a normal pace.

Not long after, Mary came into the tent to wake Natalie up to start the day. Vince wanted her to help with the clean up. They would be moving first thing tomorrow. It wasn't safe for them anymore.

Natalie groaned as she walked out of the dark tent, the sun immediately attacking her. The light made her vision flash a shade of black, causing her to stumble slightly as she walked.

Before she could regain her balance however, a pair of large, muscular arms took hold of her, standing upright again. She didn't have to be a fool to know who they belonged two.

"Careful there Nat" Parker chuckled releasing her body, her sight returning back to normal. He looked as if he had been busy, trickles of sweat following from her forehead. "How's she doing?"

Natalie turned back to the tent, a glimpse of Mary sitting with Sonya could be seen through the door. In all seriousness, she didn't look too good. "I'm not sure, Mary says she's doing everything she can....but I'm afraid it won't be enough"

Her voice hitched half was through her sentence, the tears returning to her once more. Her eyes were already red and swollen from the horrible night she had, the thought of losing Sonya would already make things worse.

"Hey don't worry, she's a strong girl" he reassured her, pulling the girl into his chest for a comforting hug. Her tears soaking into his shirt, leaving small dark marks.

Natalie was surprised he didn't bring up the kiss they had shared the other day. She was unsure why she had done it, maybe it was because she liked him? Or maybe she thought about dying to save Sonya? No one really knew. Not even Natalie.

Vince had given her a lecture the moment he seen her, about never to run into fire. That he wasn't willing to lose another daughter at wickeds hands. That he wasn't losing her, because then he would be lost also.

It broke Natalies heart to hear how her running off affected him. Not just him, but all of her family. They could have lost not only Sonya, but Natalie also, which none of them were ready for.

Natalie blamed herself for what happened to Sonya, if she had stayed with wicked. Stayed with her father, then maybe, just maybe, none of this would have happened.

She helped pack for there move, they never had a destination. But as long as they were somewhere new, somewhere different, Sonya would be able to heal and be back to her self.

Though almost dying, would never truly allow you to return to your normal self.

Natalie was in the middle of packing her belongs in her tent, when Harriet walked in. She seemed upset, no doubt she had been to see Sonya, and her expression sent Natalies mind racing. Thinking the worst.

"She wants to see you" Harriet sniffed, a single tear falling down her cheek slowly. Unsure of what to do, Natalie stopped what she was doing and gave her sister a hug. A well needed one by the looks of it.

Harriet escorted her to the large medical tent, leaving her meters away from the door. Probably not wanting to break down again.

Tears formed in Natalies eyes the second she saw her, her pale, boney hands attempting to feed her. She looked ill, she looked dead. A corpse.

Mary noticed the shadow standing in the doorway, knowing that they would appreciate each other's company, she left. To help with the clean up. Smiling at Natalie as she left.

"Is it true what you said?" Sonya croaked, raising in the bed slightly. Letting out a hiss of pain as she did. Natalies heart ached at her state, it should have been her in the bed.

"Every word Son"

"S-so I actually have a brother out there somewhere" she asked. Natalie replied with a simple nod, too overwhelmed with emotions to respond with words.

Sonya forced a smile through the pain, she had always felt as if she had been missing something in life. Not just her memories, something greater then that. And Natalie might have solved the puzzle.

"What's-" She began, but was quickly cut off by Natalie.

"His name is Newt, he was in Maze A. Janson had him now. But we will save him.....we will save all of them" Natalie watched Sonya's smile widen. As she got comfortable in the bed, closing her eyes as her tablets kicked in.

Natalie stayed a few moments more, watching her chest rise and fall peacefully. She was glad she was okay, hopefully she would be fit and healthy in no time.

"Whatever is takes" Natalie mumbled, a devious look in her eyes as she looked back at the sleeping girl. "Whatever it takes...."
