Chapter 13

Ayanokouji POV

After Yamamura and Machida left the classroom, the television showed a classroom filled with 4 desks and chairs. That must be where the test will be held I thought to myself.

Soon later, the television shows that Yamamura and Machida entered the classroom and then occupied half of the chairs in the room then after a few seconds two students from Class C which were Kushida and Yukimura entered the classroom and sat down on the remaining chairs. If I were to look at the contestants in that room I would say that Yamamura and Yukimura would be the ones having the highest scores in the test. Yukimura was one of the smartest people in Horikita's class but if I were to compare him to Yamamura, I would say that Yamamura has a slight advantage against him even though Yamamura didn't join any of the study sessions that I held on Sakayanagi's orders Yamamura is still quite smart but Yukimura is also smart in his own ways I believe he was good at Science and Math. As for Kushida and Machida, both of them aren't in the top 5 of their classes but were above the average. Comparing them based on what I know about them, then it is without a doubt that Kushida is superior against Machida in the fields of academics. But I shouldn't get hasty considering I don't exactly know everything about those 4 in that room.

After a while a teacher enters the classroom where the Japanese History test was going to take place. The teacher explained the rules to the 4 of them then handed each of them 2 pieces of long bond papers that contained the questions and a pen for them to write down their answers. By the looks of the papers given to them, it appears that the questions were printed back to back on the bond paper and it was multiple choice type of test.

The teacher then said that they would have an hour and a half to answer the questions and stopped talking for a second. She took a good look at the four to make sure that they were ready and once confirming that they were, she allowed them to start answering.

"This is boring."

I muttered to myself. Who could blame me for thinking it? I mean all that can be seen on the television are 4 students taking a test and a teacher looking at those 4. I bet some of my classmates are also thinking the same. I stopped looking at the television and focused my gaze at my classmates who some were watching the test happening. Some of them actually had a bit of sweat on their faces. 'It's natural' I thought to myself, their classmates were taking a test where results can help decide which class will win and lose in this exam. Some of my classmates were having a chat but were whispering to each other as to not disturb the others who were watching the exam. I also noticed Kamuro who was looking at me so I decided to look back at her, when she noticed me looking back at her she immediately turned back her attention to the television. Why was she looking? I asked myself. I can't think of any reason as for why would she be looking at me.

I released a small sigh then took my phone/Student ID. Mashima-sensei told us that the school administration allowed us to do whatever we want except for going out unless if it is necessary while the exam was going on since the the administration figured out that we were going to get bored if we were just going to watch exam happen. I set up an alarm for 35 minutes later then wore my headset so that if my alarm goes off only I will hear it. I then placed my on top of my desk, closed my eyes and slowly fell asleep.

Kamuro POV

Currently I'm inside of my classroom along with my other classmates watching the exam on the television. Looking at the exam right now was pretty much boring because all they're doing is answering a test and there was no noise coming out of the speakers. I took out my phone/Student ID and looked at the forums to see if there are rumors to read so I can entertain myself for a while. After a while of scrolling on the forum I saw that there was nothing interesting going on so turn my phone/Student ID off and look at the window. While I was looking at the window, I decided to gather my thoughts and say whatever comes to mind.

Today was the day for our final exam which means that I can finally take a break from being a slave from that girl. That girl still asked us to spy on Class C even though today was the exam. Spying on Class C was a little weird, normally we would be able to get at least a bit of information even if it was important or not but right now it was hard we were getting basically nothing. It's probably because of Ayanokouji's transfer to our class that resulted into them having a sort of unity which I never expected from them. Well I am interested in the exam not because of the events, our class or Class C but because of Ayanokouji. Even though Sakayanagi never told anyone who was participating what event I pretty much assumed that he would participate in an event. I'm interested on Ayanokouji's abilities and how would it be useful in this class. I already know his high Physical and Academic abilities but I was still interested to know if he has other hidden abilities considering he was the shadow leader of Class C though he never confirmed it and was holding back during his time in that class. 

While I was in thoughts I turned my head towards Ayanokouji who was also looking bored and was observing our classmates.

I wonder which event is he going to participate in. It could be something that has to do with Sports or Academics. Now that I'm on the topic of his abilities. I wonder who can compete with him, the loli who is the first one to come up in my mind is one of the smartest people here in this class she is probably the 2nd most smarted here I think but Ayanokouji is much more smarter compared to her. He already proven when every time we have a test he always gets the top spot. 

As I was still speaking in my thoughts Ayanokouji suddenly turned his head towards me. Seeing that, I immediately turned my head back to the television avoiding his gaze.

"Great..."

I muttered to myself. He noticed me, this can surely bring a lot misunderstandings later on. I released a small sigh that wasn't heard by the people around me.

Ayanokouji POV

I slowly woke up from the piercing sound of my alarm going off that was being emitted from my headset that was placed near my eardrums.

I sat back up and turned my alarm off. I shifted my gaze from my phone/Student ID towards the television. Looking at the television, it shows that Yamamura and Yukimura double checking their answers and Machida and Kushida just finished answering and is now checking their answers. 

After a while, Yamamura stood up and gave her papers to the teacher and Yukimura, Machida and Kushida then followed suit and gave their papers to the teacher. The teacher then told them to go back to their classrooms and wait for the results.

Then suddenly we can hear Mashima-sensei's voice through the speakers inside the classroom.

"As you've heard, we're going to check the papers and it will take some time so please wait for it. And to let everyone know in advance, the next event that is going happen is Basketball so for the participants for this event please go to the Gymnasium where the event is going to be held and in order for you to prepare."

After Mashima-sensei said that the television showed the different areas where the events will be held. Then, Kito stood up and left the classroom. 

So he's the one participating in the event. He's up against Sudo so Class C has the advantage here then. I don't know a lot about Kito but looking at his body I can see his biceps which is big compared to the average human. 

A few seconds after Kito left the doors slide open revealing Yamamura and Machida. Some of our classmates congratulated them, Machida gave his thanks to them while Yamamura just nodded and went back to her seat and read a book. As I was looking at Machida's interaction with some of my classmates I noticed someone approaching me, I turned around to see who that person was and saw that it was Hashimoto.

"King, the princess told me to pass this message to you."

I tilt my head sideways as if saying 'what is it?'

"She said that you're participating in the Soccer event."

"I see..."

Hashimoto gave a small laugh after I replied to him and said.

"Good luck to you. Well, knowing you, You'll help us win."

"Yeah, yeah... Us?"

"It'll be the three of us against the pair sent by Class C."

"I see, who is our other teammate"

"Yoshida Kenta, you know how to play Soccer right?"

"Yeah, I played it during elementary."

"Just how many sports did you play before you went to high school?"

"Not a lot but I did play a few."

Back in the White Room we were taught a lot sports but only the ones that would have regional, national or international competitions like Table Tennis, Badminton, Chess and so on.

"I see. Well that would explain your impressive speed."

Hashimoto and I continued converse for a little bit then he went back to his seat after our small conversation.

So I'm up against Hirata. Should I be aggressive or just end things quickly? Ending things quickly is the better option I suppose but I'm getting a bad feeling about something and I can't seem to pinpoint what it is. I thought I would participate in an academic themed event but I guess Sakayanagi wanted me to participate for this event.

After a minute or so, Mashima-sensei's voice can be heard again from the speakers.

"Thank you for waiting everyone. Here are the results."

As Mashima-sensei spoke, I can feel everyone being anxious or nervous from the results.

"The test had a hundred items. From Class A, Yamamura Miki, 95 and Machida Koji, 93."

I can hear a portion of the class releasing a huge sigh of relief when they heard the scores of Machida and Yamamura. Some of my classmates then congratulated and Yamamura and Machida once again to which Machida thanking them in a low voice and Yamamura only nodding towards them.

Mashima-sensei paused for a second after he said the scores of Yamamura and Machida then continued to speak.

"From Class C, Yukimura Teruhiko, 94 and Kushida Kikyo, 91."

Mashima-sensei once again, paused for a second before continuing to speaking.

"So Class A are the victors for this event."

Once Mashima-sensei said that our class won, majority of my classmates erupted into joy but they didn't shout or anything, it's just that one can clearly see the joy implanted on their faces. Some just released huge sighs of relief and joy and a lot them congratulated Machida and Yamamura for the 3rd time.

Their slight celebration was interrupted by Mashima-sensei who continued to talk. 

"Now we will begin the Basketball event. The rules are the same as any basketball except there will be only 2 players in this game 1 from each class. Both of them will race to see who will be the first to have 30 points. Whoever reaches 30 points first wins."

The television now showed a basketball court with 3 people on the center. Sudo and Kito on opposite sides and the referee which was a PE teacher on the center. The referee who was holding the ball tossed the ball upwards only for Kito and Sudo to jump to try and take the ball.

AN: I suck at explaining this sort of scenes(fight or sports scenes) so this might suck. I don't know a lot about Basketball so I might make a lot of mistakes here so feel free to point out any mistakes. Sorry about it.

Sudo catches the ball and immediately sprints to the ring on Kito's side while dribbling the ball.

As expected, Sudo is good in basketball if I were to compare him to Kito then it would be without a doubt that Sudo is better considering that he is a part of the basketball club and I think he has mentioned that he played basketball in Middle School years so the amount of training and experience makes him a powerful player in this sport as for Kito, I don't really have anything to say to him since I never really seen him doing sports so I can't comment on him in this event.

Sudo tries to shoot the ball for three points, he shoots the ball and as the ball rebounds off the ring, Kito takes the ball and sprints to the other side of the court while dribbling the ball. 

Sudo who was surprised by Kito's action immediately runs after Kito in order to steal back the ball. Kito who was near the ring shoots the ball into the ring for 2 points. Sudo was about to block Kito from shooting but was late as Kito had already shot it into the ring. The ball falls inside the ring and Kito gets 2 points. Kito checks Sudo and the game continues with Sudo now possesing the ball.

I moved my gaze from the television to my classmates to observe them. Some of them was more anxious compared to the previous event, some had a small smile on their face most likely because Kito managed to get points first. I then turned my gaze back to the television.

Sudo and Kito were now going towards the ring and Sudo manages to steal the ball from Kito. Sudo was trying to take a shot but couldn't because Kito was blocking him with his hands. Sudo moved to left side and Kito follows suit but it appears that it was a feign done by Sudo as he immediately moved right when Kito followed him towards the left and took a 3 point shot. The ball enters the ring and Sudo gets 3 points putting him in the lead.

Even though I was not looking at classmates, I could feel their anxiousness already leaking out of them. Well it's no surprise or anything since I could even feel the tense atmosphere leaking out from the television.

The games continues and now Kito has the ball and the game is more serious now since Sudo is trying to steal it and Kito appears to have a hard time preventing Sudo from stealing but is still heading towards the ring. As Kito was about to take a stance to shoot Sudo manages to steal the ball and sprints to the other side. Kito is chasing after Sudo but Sudo is much more faster. Sudo take a shot for 2 points while Kito is still behind him. The ball enters the ring once more giving Sudo 2 more points making the gap between him and Kito's score wide.

The game continued on with Sudo being aggressive and Kito doing his best to prevent Sudo from taking in more points while getting points himself. Kito who was mostly expressionless all the time was not having his usual face that was devoid of any emotions. It is evident on Kito's face that he was a hard time against Sudo.  Sudo now has a score 27 while Kito only has a score of 23.

If Sudo makes a 3 point shot then he wins. By the looks of it Sudo is going to win, Kito looks quite tired though it isn't shown on his face but one can tell by his movements as it sort of sluggish. 

Sudo who now has the ball immediately goes near to the ring to shoot for 3 points. Kito is behind Sudo who was about to take a shot. Sudo shoots the ball and the ball misses the ring. Kito was about to take the ball but wasn't able to as Sudo moved faster than him to take back the ball and shoot it again. Sudo who immediately took the ball as soon as he missed moves away from Kito and takes another shot for 3 points, fortunately for him he was quick enough to shoot it high enough so that Kito wouldn't be able to block it. Kito tries to reach the ball but the ball was too high so Kito wasn't able to block it. The ball then enters the ring meaning Sudo gets the remaining 3 points for him to win the event.

I took off my gaze from the television as soon as I knew that Sudo win to look at the faces and reactions of my classmates. Some of the faces of my classmates were looking sad as our class did not win this event. Some of them didn't looked fazed at all, they probable knew that Sudo would win since Sudo is part of the Basketball Club and has even joined school regional competitions in the country.  As for me, I wasn't surprised at all, I even predicted that Sudo would win knowing his abilities so the results were as expected.

After a few seconds of the conclusion of the match. Mashima-sensei's voice can be heard through the speakers.

"As you have seen on the television, Sudo Ken was the first one to obtain 30 points making him the winner and Class C being the victors of this event. We will now move on to the next event after a short break. The next event will be Archery so to the contestants of this event, please come to the Archery Club's room where the event is going to be held and for you to prepare for the event."

After Mashima-sensei spoke a classmate of mine ours named Matoba Shinji who appears to be the contestant for this event stood up and left the room.

After a while, Kito entered the room with his usual face but I can tell that he was a bit frustrated probably because he lost the event. Some of my classmates comforted him saying things like 'it's okay Kito-kun, you did your best and that's more than enough' or like ' Sudo was too strong so it's okay'. Even with those words given by our classmates, I can still sense his frustration. Well that is normal considering men are prideful creatures, they don't like to lose and they want to dominate whatever field they are on.

After a few minutes the Archery event started. The mechanics of winning were the same as the Basketball event, whoever reaches 30 points first would win. Each contestant would take turns firing an arrow into an Archery target and who ever reaches 30 first would win.

Miyake Akito from Class C easily overpowers our classmate and gets 25 points within 4 moves while our classmate has 19 points. 

Miyake who is now having his turn takes his shot and hits the outer white part of the target giving him 1 point adding to his score which is now 28. It is now our classmates' turn, he takes his shot and hits the outer blue part of the target giving him 5 points adding to his score which is now 24. It is now back to Miyake who takes a shot and hits the inner blue part of the target giving him 6 points adding to his score which is now 34 making him the winner of the event. Miyake and our classmate shake their hands as a sign of respect and leaves the area.

Once again, Mashima-sensei voice can be heard from the speakers.

"Miyake Akito from Class C has 34 points making him the winner of this event and Class C being the victors of this event."

As Mashima-sensei said that I can hear some grunts from classmates because Class C now has the lead.

"The next event will be the Math Test so to all the contestants of this event, please head to the Special Annex Building to prepare for the event. And to everyone watching, please wait for a while so that we can prepare for the next event."

After Mashima-sensei said that Katsuragi and a classmate of ours named Morishige Takuro stood up and left the room.

AN: If any of you are wondering, Morishige Takuro, Yoshida Kenta & Matoba Shinji aren't OC's. They are actual characters in the novel though they weren't mentioned or they were mentioned but was easily forgotten by the readers I mean also forgot them especially Yoshida Kenta. You can see their names on the Class 1-A part in the Wiki/Fandom.

For this event, again I wasn't surprised since our classmate was up against a member of the Archery Club so him losing wasn't all of a surprise for me but for my classmates well they are certainly sad about it. Also the only sport themed event remaining is Soccer so we still have a chance at winning this exam and I am participating on it so we have a huge at turning the tables.

AN: Welp that's it for this chapter. I was expecting to release it somewhere around 7-8 PM but I wasn't able to since I had dinner with my family and was procrastinating a lot.
