Chapter 9
16:52, 8 October 2021It only took a few minutes for Tony to come bursting through the door, Fury, Loki and Peter close behind him. I sat in the bed with my back against the wall and my knees to my chest as they slowly approached me. I felt so terrified.
"Little T.J-" Tony sang.
"-doc tells me you have some special abilities." He casually said as he sat on the end of my bed and eyed me. I nodded and felt the tears welling up in my eyes. I put my forehead against my knees so they wouldn't see me crying.
"Can you show us?" Tony asked me. I sniffed and quickly wiped the tears from my eyes as I looked up at the four men. I shrugged because I wasn't sure if I could do it again.
"Alright. Here." Peter said as he handed Tony another pen. Tony held it out in his open palm and motioned for me to move it. I dropped my knees and crossed my legs as I stared at the pen. I slowly reached my hand out. It was noticeably shaking because of how scared I was. I focused on the pen, trying to picture myself moving it. But nothing happened.
"I-I...I did it before." I assured Tony as I dropped my hand and looked at him.
"Well, performance issues...not uncommon." He shrugged.
"You can't use that line again." Loki scoffed as he crossed his arms.
"What? Why not?" Tony asked, also scoffing as he looked at the God.
"You used it on me already. You can't use it twice." Loki argued.
"I most certainly can use it twice. Besides, no one else was there when I used it on you. It didn't have the same effect." Tony shrugged as he turned back and looked at me.
"Can't use it twice." Loki mumbled.
"Plus, she's a female! It doesn't even make sense." The God added as he extended his hand out to me, gesturing.
"Women can have performance issues too, Loki. Stop being sexist." Tony defended.
"I'm not being sexist. You're being lazy with your lines." Loki argued back as he crossed his arms.
"You're lazy, shut up." Tony shook his head, not even looking at the God.
"Oh, real mature. What are you, 5?" Loki asked, rolling his eyes.
"Enough. This isn't helping Alex." Peter suddenly, and harshly, said. All eyes fell to him and Tony nodded in agreement as he looked back at me. But honestly, it was helping a little bit. It made me laugh a little and took my mind off of what was really going on.
"Right. Okay. Try again." He said as he motioned to the pen once more. I swallowed hard as I reached my hand out again and focused. I imagined myself picking the pen up with my hands. I imagined it leaving Tony's hand and sitting in the air above it. I clenched my jaw as I held my breath and pushed myself to try harder. But nothing.
I suddenly felt...like the pen was shifting, moving. Tiny little elements of the pen were just moving in Tony's hand and I could feel it. I focused on that and felt them focus back on me. I gently moved my hand up and the pen followed.
The pen slowly floated out of Tony's hands, much to everyone's surprise. The men watched with wide eyes as I moved it away from Tony's hand and back over to Peter. Peter took the pen from the air and examined it before looking back at me.
"Well, there we go. She has telekinetic abilities." Tony laughed as he clapped his hands together once.
"Right. Now, how did she get em?" Fury asked as he crossed his arms over his chest and glared at me.
"It must have been from Loki." Peter quickly answered as he looked over at the God. Loki's soft eyes were locked on my this whole time and it felt...comforting having him there.
"Me? How could it have been from me?" Loki asked, tearing his eyes from me and looking over at Peter.
"You healed her, you must have transferred some magic to her in the process." Peter replied, shrugging. That made sense, in a way. But I also wasn't sure exactly how Loki's magic worked.
"It doesn't work like that. Besides, I've healed many people. None of them ever exhibited powers similar to mine as a result." Loki said as he looked back at me, his eyes going soft again.
"You've never healed someone so close to death before, Loki. She must have taken some of your powers." Fury added to Peter's theory.
"We'll run some tests. Compare their blood, skin cells, hair follicles, complete DNA make up, hell, even their teeth. Try to find something that could indicate Loki transferred his magic to her by mistake." Tony nodded as he looked over at the 3 men.
"Get it done today." Fury harshly said before turning and leaving the room. He seemed extremely pissed off about this but I couldn't understand why. If Loki did give me his powers, it certainly wasn't on purpose.
"We'll go to my home lab. More comfortable there. Doctors creep me out." Tony's whole body shook in disgust as he gagged a little.
"Ahem." A voice from the door cleared their throat and we all turned in that direction. It was my doctor from earlier and she was staring at Tony with an unamused face and a raised brow.
"No offense, Doc. Keep up the good work." Tony quickly said as he stood up from my bed. He walked towards the door and awkwardly moved past her to leave. She rolled her eyes at the billionaire and motioned for the other 2 to leave as well.
Neither of them moved.
"I just want to check over her physical body one last time before dismissing her." The doctor explained as she motioned for them to leave again. Loki looked over at me and I nodded, telling him to go. He gently patted Peter's shoulder but Peter jerked away from him and left without a word. I could see how upsetting that was for Loki. His eyes dropped to the floor and he sighed before following Peter out the hallway.
"Alright, sweetheart. Lay back for me." The doctor said with a smile. I laid on my back and she gently touched my neck. She felt it for a moment before moving down to my chest, then stomach, thighs, knees, calves and then feet. She gently grabbed my hands and had me squeeze her fingers, making sure my grip was there.
"Everything seems to be perfect. You can go now." She said as she smiled and grabbed my chart off of the stand next to me. She wrote a few things down and then looked up at me, her small eyes soft and comforting.
"If anyone can help you, it's Mr. Stark. He may be an arrogant asshole, but he means well." She chuckled.
"Pllluuus, he and his little crew seem to care about you. They'll keep you safe and help as much as they can." She assured me before turning and leaving the room. I sighed but knew she was right. Tony was going to help me, we were going to figure this out.

Tony leaned back in his chair and exhaled as he ran his hand through his hair. I crossed my arms and leaned back in the chair I was in and looked over at Loki. He was floating next to me with his arms and legs crossed, staring at the microscope Tony was just looking at.
"Well?" I asked as I looked back at Tony. He had run dozens of tests on us at this point. My arms hurt from the constant probing of the needles.
"Completely different. Nothing similar in the slightest with any of your biological makeup." Tony said as he dropped his hand and crossed his arms.
"So....Loki didn't give me his powers?" I asked as I looked at the God and then back to Tony.
"Nope." Tony shrugged.
"How can you even tell that?" Happy suddenly asked. None of us knew he had come in and we weren't sure how long he had been there. But he did startle me and I jumped from my chair and the lamp next to me lifted off of the desk.
"Whyyy did you pick that up?" Tony asked as he raised a brow. I cleared my throat and gently put it down as I sat back in my chair.
"Um, well, Happy scared me. And, uh, my first thought was...to use the lamp to defend myself." I awkwardly chuckled. Loki laughed to himself as he lowered his head, making sure Happy didn't see him laugh.
"You were gonna hit me with a lamp??" Happy asked, disbelief filled his voice. I watched as he walked over and moved the small desk lamp from one desk to the other.
"Well, yeah! You scared me." I raised a brow at him as he looked over at me.
"She's never tried to hit me with a lamp." Loki whispered, his voice had a hint of bragging to it as he smirked at me.
"Yeah, well, she didn't have these powers when you scared her." Happy argued as he furrowed his brows at Loki.
"Back to what I was asking. How can you even tell he didn't give them to her? And how did she get them if it wasn't from green bean over there?" Happy asked as he looked at Tony and the tests on the desk.
"Hey." Loki scoffed at the comment but everyone ignored him.
"My machine must have done it. All of those elements mixing into one explosion... They must have seeped into her skin, her DNA some how and transformed it. Connected her to the elements." Tony explained. He pulled his phone out and began rapidly texting something. He hit send and waited for a few moments before looking over at Happy.
"And as for your other question. Loki's blood is very different than our blood. Human blood. It's also different than Thor's blood."
"Wait, why?" I asked as I looked over at Loki.
"Shouldn't it be similar. Since you're brothers?" I added.
"I'm adopted." Loki admitted. I was surprised by this because Thor and Loki never acted like they weren't blood related.
"Oh. Same." I nodded at his answer. His eyebrows raised with curiosity.
"How's it going in here?" Fury's voice suddenly bellowed out from the entrance. I jumped again and Loki smirked at me as I closed my eyes and exhaled hard.
"You're easily scared." He leaned over and whispered. I glared over at him but didn't bother arguing, he was right. I was very easily scared.
"Fine. We've figured out that Loki wasn't the cause of these new powers." Tony replied as he motioned to the test results on his desk. Fury snapped his head in my direction, like he didn't see me when he first entered the lab.
"Happy, I told you to get her out of here!" He harshly whispered.
"Oh my god, I completely forgot. Come on, up up up up." Happy said as he quickly made his way over to me and grabbed my arm. He pulled me out of the chair and towards the door.
"Wait, why?" Tony asked as he raised a brow and watched Happy drag me along.
"The President is coming." Fury's whisper was almost as loud and harsh as his normal voice.
"The President of what? I have no meetings scheduled today?" Tony asked as he looked at me. I shrugged and shook my head no, because he was right, he had no meetings today.
"The President of the United States, moron." Fury snapped as he looked over at Happy, his eye wide and terrifying. Happy pulled me towards the door again but stopped when the sound of Pepper, Fury's female agent, and a man talking came from upstairs.
"He's here." Happy whispered as he pulled me away from the door.
"Why are we trying to hide her from the President?" Loki asked as he uncrossed his legs and placed his feet on the ground.
"He's the one who had problems with me and my project. He wanted to shut me down." Tony sighed as he ran his hands down his face and then crossed his arms.
"And it seems for good fucking reason. That stupid project of yours is what gave Alex those powers, isn't it." Fury was making more of a statement than asking a question.
"And you. You need to leave too. You know how he feels about you." Fury added as he pointed to Loki. Loki scoffed in disbelief but that quickly turned into a shrug and nod, like he understood why.
"Hurry!" Happy whispered as he ran with me towards Loki.
"Both of you leave." Fury whispered.
"They can't. After they snuck out I upped the sensors per your orders. He can't leave with her." Tony said as he quickly got to his feet, trying to find another way to get me out of here.
"And she can't leave at all." Happy added.
"Helpful, Hap, thanks." I sarcastically said. I really didn't get the big deal with the President seeing myself or Loki, but even Tony seemed freaked over this.
"If he sees either one of them he's gonna have a fit." Fury groaned as he shook his head and pinched his brow.
"He's just through here." Pepper loudly said, letting us know they were coming into the lab. Loki suddenly grabbed my arm and shushed me. Tony looked back over at us and then around the lab for a moment, like he couldn't find us.
"Smart." He whispered as the lab door opened and Pepper walked in. Loki had turned us invisible.
Pepper and Fury's two main agents walked in and nodded at the three men. I clenched my jaw as I watched five more agents walk into the lab. They weren't Fury's men, they worked for the President. They separated and made their way deep into the lab with their guns out and ready to go. Loki slowly and gently moved me around the lab, avoiding the men. One man made his way to the left of us but quickly turned around and walked towards us. In a panic, Loki pushed me to the left and moved to the right as the man walked right between us. He grabbed my hand and pulled me back towards him as the man turned left and almost walked right into me. Loki wrapped his arm around my waist and held me close to him as he slowly backed up. It was like we were dancing.
"Clear." One of the men harshly said into a small device wrapped around his wrist. The lab doors opened and two more agents walked in, escorting the President. Tony, Happy, Fury and his agents all stood at attention as the President nodded at them.
"Well, Stark. Seems you and I have a lot to talk about."
