End of First Year
04:07, 5 August 2024Mione and I sat in Transfiguration, I was doodling in my note book waiting for class to start. Harry and Ron have sort of broken away from me with this top secret whatever they are doing, they always quiet their conversation when I come near. Mione doesn't tell me anything since she promised them but at least she doesn't ignore me.
I understand Harry being skeptical but I though at least Ron and I were closer.
•Mione saw my lost in thoughts doodling and frowned, "Don't worry about the boys. They are just being idiots."
"They haven't spoken to me in.." I raised a brow. "Mione they haven't spoken to me since then. Winter break was spent alone either in my room or...." I sighed. "I just thought we were closer."
Mione frowned. "Are you sure you cant maybe pretend it was Snape. Or at least explain to them why you think it isn't Snape."
I looked up and at Mione. "Snape wouldn't hurt Harry." Mione sighed and went back to getting ready for class. "Snape is also friends with Dumbledore. It's not Snape."
"Who then?" Mione asked her books now ready for class.
I shrugged. "I really don't know Mione. But I know for certain Snape would never go against Dumbledore and never hurt Harry."
Footsteps came closer. "Do all muggles like to draw random shapes?" Draco scoffed.
I looked up at Draco. "Most of them. This is called doodling, drawing shapes or pictures in boredom. I'm not the best drawer so I just make random shapes." I shrugged and went back to my work.
"Pathetic." Draco moved to his seat, which happened to be next to me at the next row over.
"You should try it sometime." I looked at him, he took out his books. "It helps." He rolled his eyes. Harry and Ron than burst though the doors and into their seats. "At least they are on time." I said to Hermione.
McGonagall walked in. "Alright class, if you would please take out your wands. We will continue yesterdays lesson.". . .
Potions class was... tense. Harry and Ron worked togetherMione and I worked together But the whole time Harry and Ron were staring down Snape as if they want him to know they are onto him. I know that Snape is not the culprit, but these three seem dead serious he is.
Snape started waking down the first row of students, checking our progress on the potion we were attempting to make. "Good job, Draco." Draco smiled smugly turning to rub it in Harry's face.
I rolled my eyes at his need to always be better than Harry. "Remove all traces of the leaves and return water to a boil." I read the book directions for Babbling Beverage for Mione to follow.
"Alright." Mione took the leaves out of the cauldron.
I read the words then put the book down. "Add dried billywig stings and erumpant stings. We need to allow it to boil for 10 minutes, continuously stirring counterclockwise." Snape walked up and looked at our potion. "Is it alright?"
Snape looked at me than at Mione. "Maybe you should leave the hands on to Miss Kimberly while you read Miss Granger." Mione frowned.
I sighed. "Snape, your distaste for Gryffindor shouldn't effect their work and confidence." He eyed me, I raised a brow. "I think Mione is doing amazing and you should be proud of your student no matter what house they are from." Snape eyes twitched in annoyance as he walked away.
"Thanks." Mione said sadly.
"Don't let him get to you. He knows you are one of the best in this class but doesn't like your house." She smiled, I smiled back.
Snapes voice filled the room again. "I see that both of you are inadequate for this simple task." Everyone looked at Snape scolding Harry and Ron. "Clean this up and write the process for this potion ten times." Snape walked away, Harry and Ron glared, Snape turned around and they immediately looked away and cleaned up.
I looked back at Mione. "Snape needs to loosen up." I chuckled, Mione smiled. "Let's switch." I handed her the book and she handed me the stir stick.
Mione smiled and read the book. "After the 10 minutes allow potion to cool to room temperature, then add armadillo bile and stir 5 times, counterclockwise." I nodded and turned off the burner. "I'm glad you came to Hogwarts." She turned to me, I smiled. "Just think what would have happened if I was stuck with two boys for friends." She looked over to Harry and Ron.
I smiled and added the armadillo bile. "And I am glad you chose to help me on that train." She smiled. "Thank you for being my friend Hermione."
----------For the rest of the year Hermione was the one I talked to most, like a best friend who was with me every chance she could. That was until she went on an epic adventure with Harry and Ron.
Turns out I was right about Professor Quirrell, he turned out to be a bad person with a demon or something. In the end Snape was innocent and Ron apologize to me, Harry still doesn't think Snape is 100% in the clear but none the less gave me a I'm sorry smile.
Pansy and I became.. closeish, we spend time together when I wasn't with Hermione, so basically when we are in our rooms or in a shared class together. But she had her Slytherin friends and I had Gryffindor Hermione.
Draco is still an ass, an ass that cares though, I'm still not sure about him yet. But he is always there with his smug smirk or his annoyingly smug voice. His remarks and 'Mudblood' nickname which I didn't care about, trying to win a battle of breaking me down but that won't happen.
George and Fred were nice, we talked only when we ran into each other. The same with that Hufflepuff boy who helped me with the directions to Dumbledores office. I learned his name was Cedric, nice boy with a nice smile, cute too.
But now it is the end of the year, the time I was fearing since I don't have a place to stay but apparently Dumbledore has taken charge of finding me a place. He sent a note to my bed again for us to meet, and that is where I am headed now while Pansy is busy packing up like everyone else.
"Sherbet Lemon." I said.
The Griffin statue moved to reveal a stone staircase which I walked up all the way to Dumbledores office where he was stationed at his desk.
Dumbledore looked up. "Come in." I nodded and walked over. "We have much to discuss." He organizes the papers away from him.
I walked to his desk and sat in the chair in front of it. "Quite a speech you made earlier."
Dumbledore smiled softly. "Thank you but I think we should speak about your arrangements for the summer."
I nodded. "I passed my classes with high scores."
Dumbledore nodded. "You also kept a good behavioral record." I smiled, Dumbledore took a breath. "Olivia, I can not erase your existence from the muggle world but I can arrange it in a more stable and safe environment."
I frowned. "What do you mean? I'm going back there?" My knee bounced with nerves.
Dumbledore shook his head. "Not back to your former foster parent, but a family that knows of our world and agreed to be your caretakers."
"For how long?"
Dumbledore smiled softly. "I would imagine throughout your time at Hogwarts and possibly after." I raised a brow. "Over the year you have become very close to Miss Granger."
I nodded. "She's become a close friend. Never really had those before." I smiled.
Dumbledore nodded. "I've spoken with her parents and they have agreed to house you for the summers when Hogwarts is closed and holidays if that is your choosing."
My eyes widened. "Hermiones parents agreed to take care of me?" He nodded, I smiled. "I get to live with Hermione?"
"Yes, Olivia. Miss Granger was made aware of this earlier but was told to keep quiet until I told you the news. You should head to bed, Olivia. I suspect Miss Granger will be enthusiastic tomorrow when the two of you leave school."
I smiled. "Thank you, Dumbledore." He nodded. "May I leave?"
"Yes, make sure you get rest and not stay up."
I stood up. "Thank you so much. Goodnight."
"Goodnight, Olivia."
