Sides and Friends

04:07, 5 August 2024

Im not weak, I was just in pain both physically from the troll and mentally from Miones stern voice telling me to go to the infirmary. I only had a couple broken bones which caused internal bleeding but I was fine, but I guess I am grateful that I came to the hospital because the wizarding world has bone mending potions!! Imagine all these years I could just fix bones in just one week instead of 6 of them!

The couple days went by fast to, Mione visited me everyday to help with work and talk about how annoying some people can be. She still felt guilty for what happened but I threatened to hex her if she doesn't stop thinking like that. Harry and Ron tagged along a few times, the three of them always seem to be together.

Draco visited once to drop off homework from our shared class, he asked if all muggles were stupid enough to take on a troll. He's an ass with his façade still in place.

All in all I have friends for once in my life that haven't been ripped from me, and it feels weird and amazing at the same time.

•"Lumos." I smiled as my wand lit up. "Nox." The light died out. "Lumos... Nox... Lumos... Nox." I chuckled, wondering what would happen if I suffered from epilepsy.

"Olivia." I hid my wand under the blankets, Dumbledore walked up to the foot of the bed. "Having fun?" He clasped his hands behind his back.

"Am I in trouble?" Dumbledore shook his head. "Oh, good." I took out my wand. "To what do I owe the pleasure?" My eyes widened. "Is it about the troll? I'm not-."

He held up his hand. "You are not in trouble for that." I nodded, he walked closer and motioned to the bed. "May I?" I nodded and moved my legs, Dumbledore sat down. "As you know winter break is coming up. Students are allowed to stay or take the train back to the muggle world to spend time with family."

I frowned. "There is nothing back there for me" He nodded, I looked at my wand. "I believe Harry is staying so I will have company."

Dumbledore nodded. "I'm glad to know you have made friends." I smiled. "Has Hogwarts grown on you yet?"

I smiled. "It grew a long time ago... What is your favorite place in Hogwarts."

Dumbledore away in thought. "Surprisingly, I never though of that before." He looked at me. "What would you say your favorite place is?"

I smiled and looked at my wand. "I have yet to explore everything, but in my months here... The dining hall, I eat there with friends, more food than I could ever imagine, I get to see everyone in one place like a big family gathering, study there with friends, its my safe place. Its the liveliest place I've ever felt safe or calm in." I smiled and looked back at him. "But you've totally avoided my question with another, Professor."

Dumbledore smiled. "You have caught me, Olivia." He looked out at the sunset. "I think the same as you. Each beginning of the year I see new and returning students, at the end I've seen how they have grown and changed. Then it repeats until they have grown into fine young adults, lives change in that room and I am there to witness it."

"Your response is defiantly... Spans over years... Exactly how long have you been Headmaster?" I raised a brow.

"Oh, about 31 years." Dumbledore turned his head to me. "Olivia, I am 110 year old."

My eyes widened. "What? Are you a vampire?" I joked.

Dumbledore chuckled under his breath. "Wizards and witches tend to have a longer life expectancy then muggles."

"Really wow... But not me right? The whole mudblood or whatever."

"I am a Half-Blood and I have lived for a long time.... Olivia." I raised a brow. "The Ministry has an account of each witch and wizard. If you would like I could send a request, find who your family is."

My heart pounded with excitement at the idea.. (They abandoned me..) I frowned. "Abandoned by wizards and beaten by muggles... I have no family, Professor." I looked back to my wand and fiddled with it.

"If you change your mind I will be here to help." I nodded. "You get some rest, tomorrow you have no excuse to not attend class."

I smiled. "Thank you, Professor Dumbledore." He nodded. "Hey, Professor?" He turned to me, I scratched my neck. "Snape.. He has a cut on his leg. I just.. I don't know how its healing and I know that cuts need to be treated immediately. I know it's been a couple days but... Can you just... check on him."

"I will." I smiled and nodded. "Goodnight, Olivia..." He turned then stopped, turning his head to look back at me. "Oh, by the way. Harry Potter caught the snitch and won the Quidditch. Unfortunately Slytherin lost."

I shrugged. "I never saw houses anyway. But that is awesome Harry won the game."

Dumbledore nodded. "Have a good rest of the night. Make sure you don't stay up to late, you have classes tomorrow." I nodded, he left.. . .

I was back at breakfast the next morning, luckily the infirmary had a place to refresh and change you to my uniform. With my books in arms I stood in the doorway to the dining hall with the same dilemma I have every time I come to eat... Slytherin or Gryffindor...

"Olivia." The twins said in unison and placed their arms on my shoulder, I basically ran out of their arms. "Woah. Little jumpy."

"I don't like it when people touch me." They nodded. "How are you two?" I walked to the Gryffindor since that seemed to be the best place.

"Tell us Olivia. Who's who?" Fred asked, I smirked, they both frowned. "Don't tell me you still can see a difference." He groaned.

I sat next to Hermione, twins sat across from me next to Ron and Harry who were across Hermione.

I shrugged. "You're voices and mannerisms are still different." I turned to my friends. "Heard someone won the match yesterday."

Harry smiled. "I almost ate the snitch." I raised a brow.

The twins started talking to their friends while I parted to my friends.

"Coolest win that will ever happen." Ron chuckled. "You should have seen it. We all thought he was going to be sick."

I smiled and put some food on my plate. "Did I miss anything in class?"

Hermione turned to me. "No, but we need your help." I raised a brow and shoved a fork of pancake in my mouth. "We, all of us, needs to go to the library to looked up Nickolas Flamel."

I nodded. "Who's he?"

"We don't know." Harry ate his food. "But whoever he is made something that..." I looked confused, Harry frowned. "You don't know anything about this." Harry looked at Mione and Ron. "Did any of you tell her?"

Ron shook his head and kept eating, Mione rolled her eyes and looked at me. "We think that whatever Hagrid took out of the volt with Harry is now being protected on the third floor corridors. He told us that Professor Dumbledore was protecting it for Nickolas Flamel, or at least they are connected."

Harry leaned forward and whispered. "The night the troll was released I think Professor Snape went to steal the item and that's why he has a cut in his leg." I raised a brow.

"There is a three headed dog guarding whatever it is." Ron added between his eating.

"And Snape was jinxing Harry's broom during the game." Mione said, my brows furrowed. "Snape was trying to hurt Harry."

I looked at Snape then back at Mione. "That's not possible. Snape would never hurt Harry. You saw it wrong or missed something." I looked at Harry who couldn't believe I was defending Snape. "Harry, trust me. Snape would never hurt you."

Harry's eyes squinted. "Why?" I pressed my lips together, Harry glared. "Don't tell me you are siding because your house."

I gaped. "Are you serious?" Harry raised a brow.

"Harry stop." Mione defended. "You are being paranoid."

"She's friends with Draco and Pansy. Now she is defending Snape, she's a Slytherin." Harry said skeptically.

(Friends with Draco? Not.)"Are you serious?" The food tasted dry in my mouth, Ron's food seemed to not matter as well as he looked between us. "I don't take sides, Harry. I trust people because of their person and not their house. Not everything is so black and white." I stood up. "I'm heading to class." I left the great hall. (Why does he think I am friends with Draco?)
