Diagon Alley
04:07, 5 August 2024I made it, with a lot of directional help, to Headmasters office, with the help of a Hufflepuffs directions. Thankfully for my memory and his accurate navigation I made it to the Griffin statue in no time.
"Sherbet Lemon." I said questionably, a second later the statue moved to reveal a staircase. "A school of magic." I told myself and walked up the stairs.
A big room with walls of books, astrological items surrounding the desk, and moving paintings of people that caught my eyes as they gave nods of greetings. I smiled and looked to the desk, behind it a beautiful bird with red feathers.
I walked over to the bird and smiled. "Aren't you pretty."
Dumbledore walked out from the top loft. "Miss Kimberly."
I smiled softly. "You can call me Olivia if you like, Miss sounds to formal." Dumbledore nodded, I fiddled with my fingers. "Am I in trouble?"
"Oh, no." He started walking over to me. "Severus asked if I could take you. I agreed." I relaxed, he questioned with his eyes. "You should try and not aggravate your Professors on the first day Olivia."
I frowned. "I didn't mean to. He was picking on Harry and I just questioned why and it seemed like I got the correct answer and he got mad."
Dumbledore nodded. "And what is this hidden truth?"
I shook my head. "It's Snapes hidden truth to tell not mine."
Dumbledore looked at the bird. "I saw you finding interest in Fawkes."
I smiled. "A very pretty bird."
"A Phoenix." I nodded. "Shall we?" I flinched as he held up an arm. "I am terribly sorry. Olivia." He said softly. "It slipped my mind, but you haven't to worry of your safety. I will not hurt you nor raise a hand against you."
I nodded. "Right."
"Hold onto my arm. I am going to apparate us to Diagon Alley." I raised a brow. "Apparition is a way of teleportation in a sense."
My eyes widened. "We are going to teleport?"
He nodded. "As Headmaster of Hogwarts I am the only one with this privilege."
I frowned. "That sucks." I held onto his arm.
Dumbledore softly chuckled. "Ready?" I nodded and in three twisting and turning seconds we landed on a road with buildings on either side. "This, Olivia, is Diagon Alley, this is where you will get your supplies in the future as well."
I let go of his arm. "There are so many colors." Dumbledore started walking, I followed. "Is this the only place to get wizard school supplies?"
"There are more around the world, hidden from muggles. But this is the closest to Hogwarts." We continued down the road, passed more shops I really wanted to stop in but was willing to wait.
"Where are we walking to?"
Dumbledore pointed up ahead, as if I could see where he was pointing. "Madam Malkins Robes for all Occasions. There you will get your school uniforms."
I nodded. "Thank you again. You never had to do all this but you did. So thank you."
"You are a special witch, Olivia. You just need to realize your potential." He pointed again to a building. "Here." I walked over and opened the door, Dumbledore walked in. "Madam Malkins?" I followed after him into the shop.
A woman walked out of the back and smiled. "Ah, Headmaster Dumbledore. What do I owe the pleasure?"
Dumbledore motioned to me. "I have a first year who needs her uniforms. I though this the best place to go seeing your popularity."
She smiled. "You've come to the right place." She looked at me. "Let's get you measured for the fitting." She waved me over, I walked over and onto a podium she pointed to.
"Olivia, I am going to visit an old friend as you are measured." I turned to Dumbledore and nodded. "Olivanders shop for wands is down the alley. I will meet you there."
I smiled. "Alright. Thank you." Dumbledore nodded and started out the shop.
I flinched as the woman touched my arm. "Sorry to startle you" She stretched a tape measure down the length.
My brows furrowed. "Wait... These aren't like hand made right?"
She smiled. "Tailors here use magic to make the clothes." She continued to measure. "How long have you known about this world?"
"I got my letter months ago then I learned about this world yesterday." Her eyes widened, I shrugged. "I kind of threw myself in."
She nodded. "Well don't worry. Hogwarts is a great place to start and Headmaster Dumbledore is kind and patient."
I nodded. "Thought so, both Hogwarts and Headmaster Dumbledore were my first wizarding world things I experienced. I sort of slept on the train here."
She smiled and measured the rest of my body. "Alright, it will take an hour or less to make the garments."
"Thank you." I stepped off the podium, smiled at the woman. "I will see you soon then."
She nodded and looked out the window. "Out the door and down the left you should find Olivander. Old building but the words are still painted legibility on the wall."
I smiled. "Thank you, have a wonderful day." I walked to the door.
I did what both Dumbledore and Madam Malkins said, I walked down the alley until I came across 'Olivanders Wands Since 382 B.C.' which held a sort of old but wise look to it.
A bell rang as I walked into the store, huge shelves holding small boxes took up more than 3/4th of the space.
"Are those all wands?" I mumbled to myself in amusement.
An old man walked out from the shelves. "Hello." He looked me over, I raised brow. "Who are you?"
"Olivia Kimberly, Dumbledore sent me here."
"Ah." He walked back into the shelves, my brows furrowed. (Was he expecting me?)Olivander came to the front desk, opened the box and handed me a wand. "Acadia wood with a unicorn hair core, 11 1/4th, unyielding." He handed me sort of bent wand, I raised a brow. "Just wave it."
I waved the wand and nothing happened, I frowned. "Is it because I'm muggle-born or is this not the one?"
He shook his head and took it back. "You need a different wand. This one is stubborn." He went back to the back. "Being muggle-born doesn't effect your wand."
I picked at my nails. "I am so going to hate this."
(I don't hate shopping... I just have never been shopping before. All my clothes and items are either hand me downs or given to me.)
He walked back into the room. "Let's see about this." He opened a box and took out another. "Pine wood with Dragon Heartstring, 10 1/2 and supple flexibility."
I took it from him and waved it, a whole shelf of drawers blew out of their holding. "I'm so sorry." I handed it back to him. "Maybe we should stop."
Olivander smiled. "Not to worry dear. This happens more than you think." I raised a brow. "The wand chooses the witch or wizard. We just have to find the right one."
I looked at all of the shelves. "Alright." He walked back to the back, I sighed. "I'm going to destroy this place."
