Chapter 8 - The Search Begins

LAXUS POV

FLASH BACK

After a few weeks Lucy finally comes waltzing back into the guild. As I sat with the Thunder Legion, I witnessed Natsu spring from his seat like a fired up bunny. He blocked Lucy's path, by standing in her tracks. The whole guild at that point were silent, as they had noticed the awkward encounter. Everyone watched intently, wondering what would happen. But as the seconds went passed and Lucy hadn't answered, the entire guild rushed over defusing the awkwardness. But to me something about Lucy seemed different, both emotionally and physically. To me, even though she was wearing a big smile, and greeting everyone so cheerfully. Something just didn't seem right and it was frustrating me. I know Lucy and Natsu broke up, and at the time I didn't really want to know why, but right now I wish I was listening in on Evergreen's gossip.

Suddenly I feel someone nudge me. "Is something the matter Laxus?" I snapped my head to the side, that I was nudged. Freed was there, one leg crossed over the top of the other, leaning back in his chair, while sipping on a cup of his favorite coffee.

That's when I found myself, sitting on the edge of my seat, intently watching Lucy's every move. "It's not like you to be so distracted by such matters." Freed speaks bluntly.

I purposely begin to cough and slowly go back into my normal unenthusiastic, unapproachable, cocky self, ignoring what Freed had just said.

"Ever since the Grand Magic Games. When you saw Lucy humiliated and brutally attacked, something in you snapped. No one else noticed, expect me. You were the one that wanted to comfort Lucy. But you knew Natsu-"

"Freed!" I say clenching my fists. "I get how observant you are, when it concerns me. But if you want to keep your head connected to that body of yours, stop talking." I warned, interrupting him, as what he was saying, was hitting a nerve. 

"You like her....Don't you?" I quickly spring to my feet, sending my chair flying against the wall. My rage was peaking, why is something like this bothering me so much. I use to get this on a daily, except it was about Mira-Jane. Now the same thing is happening with Lucy and I can't help but become so defensive. Tsk, I need to cool off.

I turn to walk off, when I see Lucy in the corner of my eye, walking up the stairs to the second floor. She seemed determined, yet afraid.

Full of curiosity, my body moves on it own, in the same direction Lucy was heading. I lose sight of her, so I speed up, in hopes to catchup to her again. As I turn a corner I see Lucy standing outside of gramps office. Then she opens the door and walks in.

"What it this girl doing?" I mumble. I walk a bit closer, the door was a tad open.

"Are you asking me if you can leave Fairy Tail?" Gramps speaks.

It caught my attention. Lucy is asking Gramps if she can leave the guild. Huh!.

While I was wrapping my head around the fact that Lucy wants to leave the guild I hear something even more disturbing.

"I'm sorry about your baby. Lucy." I hear gramps apologize. My eyes widen "Lucy was pregnant!" I say in shock. Lucy was pregnant. But...But that means...that Natsu was the father.

I back away from the door and stumbling back up against the wall support. So that's why Loke....That night...

Then I hear the door open, snapping me out of my trance. I reverted back to my staunch, bad guy act. Even though inside I wanted to wrap my arms around her. I had my eyes close, because I couldn't bring myself to look at her, or I have no idea what I'll do to Natsu.

END FLASH BACK

MASTER MAKAROV POV

A month has passed, since Lucy and Laxus have left the guild, even though Laxus still bares the Fairy Tail mark. I have no idea if I will ever see him again. I look down shaking my head "My poor children." I mutter to myself.

I make my way onto the stage that was situated to the left side of the guild hall. I could feel all eyes on me from the moment I came waltzing down those stairs. There was minimal chatter amongst everyone. I reached the center of the stage, by then everyone went silent. All eyes were on me, I took a deep breath in.

"As you all know. We have 2 of our members missing. Some of you most likely think that they have gone on solo missions or maybe gone on a mission together........" I paused, looking around the room spotting Team Natsu and the Thunder Legion unexpectedly standing next to each other.

"I have been keeping this piece of information from you all in order to respectfully keep my promise." I continue. "Spit it out gramps" Natsu shouts impatiently. Prompting me to shoot him a glare.

"Lucy Heartfilia is no longer apart of Fairy Tail-" "WHAT!!!" everyone in the guild shouts, jaws dropping to the ground. It was causing a uproar.

"What are you talking about Gramps. Lucy would never leave Fairy Tail. Let alone leave without saying good-bye!" Natsu yells in disbelief.

"I wish I was lying, But it is true. Exactly a month ago, Lucy came to me begging or me to remove her mark." "Gramps you better be joking." Natsu says, as fire oozes from his fists.

"I'm sorry Natsu." I apologize

"How could you let her go." Natsu shaking with anger. If only you knew my child. I smile softly, ignoring his question.

"That is not all.....Laxus still bares our mark. But he will not be returning to Fairy Tail as well." I reveal.

Sending the whole guild in to a frenzy.

As I make my way off the stage, I'm confronted by Team Natsu and the Thunder Legion.

"Where's Lucy" Team Natsu screeched "Where's Laxus" the Thunder Legion screeched.

"I know you all want the answer to that, but I don't have a clue." I said. With me being the only lead the Thunder Legion had, and it proving useless, they sprinted out of the guild, in search of the their leader Laxus.

"Why would you let them leave." Natsu argued.

"You have no need to worry. Laxus is with Lucy. So you have no need to worry about her, she is in good hands." I reply

"Ehhhh!!!!!" They all yell in unison, except for Natsu.

Then Natsu begins to storm off, I knew that look in his eye. A fire was burning inside of him and he couldn't accept the fact Lucy had left.

"Natsu!" I call out to him. He stops. "Are you sure Lucy would want to see you. You are the reason she left in the first place. You were the one that broke up with her. So why are you so concerned about Lucy whereabouts." I bluntly point out the truth.

The fire that was only oozing out of his clenched fist, were not released and we know oozing out of his body, creating a protective raging barrier of fire around him. As he punched open the guild doors, with Happy following closely behind.
