14. Sorrow

00:04, 10 January 2014

Abby's POV:

I could feel the huge fluffy duvet wrapped around me, I was in bliss. These pillows were so big, how many people did they have to compel for them. I turned over, to stare into the face of my favourite person in the world, to see that he wasn't even there.

I sighed, and rolled onto my back again. Something has happened. And I don't know what. But it isn't good.

I slowly hopped up from the over-sized bed, and slipped on my clothes. The sun was shining through the window, and at a guess, it was about midday.

I strode down the stairs stealthily, but obviously not stealthily enough.

Kol came zipping up to me, a glum look showing, but he couldn't hide the smirk that was sprouting through his un-shaven face.

"Oh what do we have here. Someone had a fun night with my brother." He winked.

I sighed and looked around. The house was eerily quiet. "What's happened?"

His face dropped. He opened his mouth, hesitated, and then shut it again. After a whole minute, he answered.

"I can hear Elijah coming back. I think he better tell you everything."

I carried on down the staircase, nodding at Kol on the way, concerned because, he was always the happy Mikaelson. Something really bad must've happened to bring him down. It almost made me upset just looking at him.

I settled down on the couch as my boyfriend walked in the door. He looked exhausted. He looked horrible. But gorgeus at the same time. Argh.

As he saw me he grimaced, trying to put on a brave face.

He came over, and sat down next to me on the couch. He then took my hands in his and looked deep into my eyes. I melted.

He whispered. "Rick killed Klaus last night Abby. For good. With that magical stake. Allaric also died. And. Elena is a vampire. Rebekah tried to kill her after Meredith had given her vampire blood."

I was so shocked. "What!" Elena, a vampire? And, Klaus dead? And, Rebekah?

I got up and started pacing around, letting it all sink in. I rubbed my temples, and a tear slowly dripped down my face.

I had only known Klaus Mikaelson for a short while, but he was a good friend. And deep down, he cared for his family.

Elijah looked even more concerned for me than he was for himself. Kol was also pacing around in the backround. He was now making vigorous calls, it seemed like he was setting up to move away somewhere.

I sat back down on the couch with Elijah and held his face in my hands. "Are you okay?"

He looked at me, like I was an angel. He looked so grateful that I had even considered his feelings. I'm guessing noone else had. His brother had just died.

He had no answer to give. Elijah Mikaelson rested his head on my shoulder, and I felt my shirt become wet as tears flooded out of his chocolate brown eyes.

Elijah's POV:

I loved Abby so much. I don't know what I would do without her now. Klaus died, Finn died, Mother died, Mikael died. My family is slowly being ripped apart.

But now I have her. And nothing else matters.

Abby's POV:

We spent the day sitting, talking. Talking about the future, and the past. And while staring into eachothers eyes. We talked about the present.

It all sounds so cheesy. But he was a huge part of my life now. And I was going to keep it that way. Forever.

We left the house in the evening, going for a walk around the streets, to refresh out heads. It felt so good to be hand in hand with him. Walking around, just a normal couple, in a normal town.

Now the hybrid Mikaelson is dead, everyone excepted Elijah for who he was. The noble original. The original, who helped the humans. Who helped the Salvatores. He was accepted around the town.

We ended up at The Grill, deciding to take the Damon technique and drink our hearts to take away the sorrow. It seemed to work pretty well for him, losing Rick and all, so it was worth a try.

We drunk all night, no one we knew around us, just me and Elijah, in our own little world, coping with life without big brother Mikaelson.

By the time he took me home, we couldn't get drunk because we were vampires, but we were certainly in a laughing mood.

We couldn't stop talking about how much the world had changed in the last 100 years that I had lived. And he had lived for 1000, I can't even imagine what that would be like.

As I hopped up onto the doorstep to make myself the same height as him, he grinned and kissed me. I flung my arms around his neck and kissed him back. This was interrupted before long, when Damon yanked open the front door and cried out.

"No vampire pashing on my doorstep please." He rolled his eyes impatiently.

I just smiled sarcastically at him and kissed Elijah one more time on the top of his forehead.

"I will see you tommorow."

His eyes turned to sadness. I didn't want him to leave either.

He kissed my hand, before nodding at the Salvatore, and dashing away.

Damon grabbed me by the back of my shirt and pulled me inside.

Stefan was sitting in an arm chair, smirking, a glass of blood in his hand. Human blood? Stefan? He must be stressed.

"What's wrong? You're with a new woman every night Damon, me and Elijah weren't even inside the house."

He growled. "Yes but I am behind closed doors-" he looked up, realising what he just said. "Okay, maybe the door was closed on you too, but it was slightly disturbing."

I rolled my eyes once again. "His brother just died Damon, give him some slack. Yes, Elijah filled me in on everything."

I turned to Stefan with a thoughtful face. "How's Elena coping?"

He sighed and looked down at his cup of blood. He looked lost, deep in thought, so I wasn't going to bother him to answer.

Eventually his brother did it for him.

"Stefan here, decides to listen to Eleana ONCE AGAIN, and saves the quarterback, before he can save her." He scowled. "If it weren't for that vampire blood in her system, she would be well dead by now."

Stefan jumped up. "She wouldn't let me save her Damon, don't make me feel more bad than I already do."

The other Salvatore just glared at his brother, and stalked over the alcohol cabinet. I felt this was the time for me to leave them alone, so I went into the other living room, and switched on the TV.

It showed Allaric. A huge picture of him on the news. 'Local school teacher found dead in apartment.'

Well that would be right. If his life was linked to Eleana's, then when she turned all vampiristic, he would've died.

It was hard to convince myself that this man wasn't Allaric. Mr Saltzman died in that old Lockwood property. This man, was a brutal vampire killer, who had succeeded in killing Klaus. My boyfriend's brother.

After that news, I just switched the TV off, too sad to watch anything else. I could hear some more hardcore Salvatore fighting going on in the kitchen, glass smashing and all, so I decided to watch the show. I giggled as I decided to actually make some popcorn for myself to really rage them up.
