Valentines Day

The vibe soon picked up as everyone began talking about what songs they wanted to do for the assignment. I was pairing up with Artie to sing Ariana Grande's The Way to Ryder. It was one of my favorite love songs right now. That and Everything Has Changed by Taylor Swift and Ed Sheeran.

"I love the way." I sang as I got my books for my first period.

"Whatcha singing?" asked Ryder as he walked up to me.

"Nothing." I said. "It's a secret. You'll find out at Glee today."

Ryder smiled and kissed my forehead.

"Well, I couldn't wait till Glee."

"What?" I questioned. Ryder stepped to the side and revealed the empty hallway with rose pedals spread all the way to the choir room. Each of the New Direction girls stood on either side with red roses in their hands.

Ryder extended his arm to me and I took it. We began to walk.

Ryder: "You know I'd fall apart without you

Marley was the first one to pass me a rose. She had a wide smile on her face and happy tears in her eyes.

Unique passed me a rose and gave me two thumbs up. I smiled at her and continued to walk.

Tina gave me a half hearted smile and gave me a rose. I learned not too long before that she had broken up with her boyfriend, Mike, over the summer and was now pursuing Blaine, even though he was gay.

Brittany was the last one to give me a rose before we entered the choir room. The boys were standing around the piano. They were all wearing tuxedos. Sam was playing guitar and Artie was playing piano.

Ryder led me over to the piano and helped me jump up onto it. The boys, except Artie who was still playing piano, walked out in front of me.

I felt tears in my eyes as I applauded the boys. Ryder walked up to me and took my hands in his. He looked me right in the eyes.

"Marcia Hales. Will you be my valentine?" he asked.

"Yes." I said and nodded. Ryder laughed and wrapped me into a hug as the boys and the girls cheered for us.

"So, are you singing anything this week?" I asked Blaine that night. He was over to my house, helping me out with some homework.

"I might." he shrugged. "I mean, I know Kurt's in New York and everything, but it's the thought that counts, right?"

"That's right!" I said. "But, just wondering, if you were to sing something this week, what would it be?"

"I dunno. I like that new Maroon 5 one. It's a really good song."

An idea was stirring in my mind. I secretly went into the camera of my phone and turned it on video camera.

"Can you sing it?" I asked. "I'd love to hear you sing it."

Blaine gave me a strange look, but decided to sing and not ask questions. I held my phone up so that I could film him, but he wouldn't make much of it.

I stopped filming him and gave him a small round of applause. As he returned to his homework, I quickly went into my contacts, found "Kurt Hummel" and sent him the video and stated, "Happy Valentine's day!!!!!"

The next day was Valentine's Day. The school was decorated with hearts and pink and red streamers. Couples walked down the halls hand in hand, girls who were crushing stood swooning and boys who were crushing tried to impress the girls.

Ryder had surprised me with flowers in front of my locker with a card that read "To: My Love From: Your Boyfriend Happy Valentine's Day!! <3"

I smiled at the flowers. Tulips, my favorite flowers.

As I attempted to open my locker with one hand while holding the flowers in the other, Blaine came up to me.

"Happy Valentine's Day!" I said.

"Did you send something to Kurt?" he asked.

"What ever do you mean?" I asked, playing coy.

"Kurt text me this morning. 'just seen the vid. ur the best boyfriend ever. happy valentines day'. What video?"

"Okay, okay. I give." I said. "Last night, while you were singing Love Somebody, I secretly filmed you and sent it to Kurt saying that it was his Valentine's Day gift to you. You're welcome?"

A wide smile spread on Blaine's face as he quickly wrapped his arms around me and gave me a big hug. I tried my best to move so that the tulips weren't crushed.

"Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!" he said. "You are the best friend I've ever had. Don't tell Sam I said that."

"I won't." I laughed. "Let me go. You're gonna crush my flowers."

Blaine quickly pulled away and looked at the flowers.

"Did Ryder give you those?" he asked. I nodded. "That's so sweet! What kind are they?"

"Tulips. My favorite."

"Awe." he said. I laughed. The bell rang and we both went off to class.

The day went by slowly. I spent most the day staring at the clock, my leg bouncing with anxiousness. Glee Club was after school that day instead of at lunch like they usually were. Artie and I were going to perform the song then. I was getting a bit anxious and just wanted school to be over.

"Miss. Hales!"

I quickly snapped out of my trance when Mrs. Osbourne called my name. I looked up at her.

"I asked you if you could answer the question." she said.

"Uh-"

Luckily, the bell rang, saving me the embarrassment of admitting that I hadn't been listening and risking getting after school detention.

I quickly collected my books and went to my locker. I put my books away and walked to the choir room.

"Hey duet partner." Artie said. "Are you ready to sing?"

"Oh, I'm ready. I think the real question is, are you ready to rap?"

"I was born ready my friend." he said.

Artie and I sat next to each other as the rest of the choir came in. I locked eyes with Ryder when he walked in. I smiled and hugged the tulips, that I had been carrying with me all day.

"Alright!" Mr. Schue said. "Happy Valentine's Day everyone!" Everyone cheered. "Anyone wanna go first for the assignment?"

Artie and I quickly raised our hands.

"Okay. You guys have the floor."

Artie and I went to the front of the room as Mr. Schue sat down. I gave the band the sheet music and gave them a thumbs up before addressing the choir room.

"This is a vocal valentine to Ryder Lynn and Sugar Motta from your amazing girlfriend, Marcia Hales, and your amazing boyfriend, Artie Abrams." I announced. Ryder smiled as Sugar blew Artie a kiss. The band began to play.

I walked over to Ryder and sat on his lap. He threw his head back and laughed as I wrapped my arms around his neck and sang to him. Down in the front row, Sugar was sitting on Artie's lap, dancing to the song as I sang.

Everyone cheered as Sugar gave Artie a big kiss on the cheek and I kissed Ryder on the lips. He smiled at me.

"Best valentine ever." he said.

The meeting continued. Jake sang to Marley. Kitty sang a song that was directed to Jake's half brother, Puck, who she was dating for a while now. Blaine sang Love Somebody again, saying he was dedicating it to Kurt and singing it because I filmed him singing it before.

Mr. Schue called the meeting to a close an hour later. I was about to get up and leave when Ryder put a hand on my shoulder.

"Can you stay back for a bit?" he asked. "Don't question it. Just stay back."

I nodded and sat back down. Everyone left, bidding each other a "Goodbye" and "Happy Valentine's Day". Finally, it was just Ryder and I. Ryder got up and grabbed a guitar from the band, who was gone as well, and turned to me.

"That was the best valentine ever." he said.

"Thank you." I said. "What's this about?"

"You told me your favorite song was Everything Has Changed by Taylor Swift and Ed Sheeran." he explained. "So, why not finish off this Valentine's Day with a song?"

He began playing is guitar. I put my hands over my heart, feeling touched.
