Agasa Residence, 12:56 pm..

The doorbell rings and Haibara gets up to get it, slowly walking and opening the door, the detective freak stands there with his smug smile.

He walks in before saying anything and kisses his girlfriend on the cheek. Haibara was slightly surprised but didn't show it, he was in an unusually happy mood today.

"Good morning to the most gorgeous girl out there." Conan says turning towards her once she closes the door. She cringes at his words and shoots an eyebrow up. "You know this flirting technique of yours makes you look nothing but cheesy." She says as Conan pouts but shrugs.

He walks over to the living room. "Where's Hakase?" He asks sitting down on the couch. "Out." She said sitting down a little far next to him. "Now will you tell me why you're in such a happy mood today?" She asks curiously. "What? Can't I be happy to see my girlfriend without having another reason?" He says sarcastically.

"No because you always have something up your sleeve, now spill." She says crossing her arms. Conan sighs knowing nothing will work if he keeps up an act and decides to tell her, breathing in.

"I..have been asked to investigate a major crime here in Tokyo, by the famous owner of the famous building, Tenya Industries." Conan says flashing a smile. Haibara sighs and removes a strawberry blonde hair strand that falls on her face.

"I thought of something more interesting to be honest, but whatever, what if I tell you I don't have a pill ready for you to turn back to Shinichi? Have you thought of that before accepting their offer?" She says raising a brow. Conan only smirks and turns his head downwards, illuminating the light from his glasses.

A chuckle escapes him and Haibara's curiosity only increases as she raises both her brows now. "I forgot to mention, that I was asked to investigate this crime." Conan says once again, emphasizing the *I* in his sentence.

Haibara takes a minute to think before giving Conan a look that says 'would you look at that'. Conan nods in agreement to her look and speaks again.

"Yes they asked Conan personally to handle this since I've gained popularity for my extremely smart brain and my interest in solving crimes as well as already having solved a lot of crimes." Conan explains, the smirk not leaving his face.

"But you know what this means right, they'll be comparing you to Shinichi when he gained popularity for his interest in crimes in highschool so you, who is Shinichi will slowly start to get forgotten, and if you keep this up, Conan will replace Shinichi and won't be heard of again because of a potentially new and more modern Sherlock." Haibara sums up his supposed future in less than a minute as Conan just stares at her with sweat dropping on his forehead as he looks nervously at her.

"Well...until then I'll be choosing if I want to stay in this body or not so don't worry about me, but what about you? Will you stay as Haibara Ai?" Conan asks and Haibara just sits there and thinks, this question has crossed her mind and her answer was already chosen.

She thinks before nodding and looking at Conan with a serious expression. Conan kind of expected it but was still surprised at her answer. Haibara had her head a little low and was staring into her hands as her fingers played with each other. The atmosphere quickly turned into a quiet one before Conan spoke up.

"You already know whoever you stay as I'll still love you and be with you right?" Conan says, his finger slowly going to her chin and lifting it up making her look at him. She nodded slowly after not moving, but Conan caught a hesitant move before that, he brushed the weird feeling off and smiled at her.

He leaned down and kissed her gently, the kiss wasn't passionate, it was a soft one, filled with comforting emotions, they separated and locked eyes. "Oh yeah I'll be going with the old man as well." Conan says as he gets up and stretches. "When will you be going?" She asks yawning.

"In an hour or so, be sure to keep the news on, they'll be interviewing me live after I solve the mystery." Conan says smirking. She gives him a small smile and gets up. "I'll take a short nap then, if you're going then don't wake me up to say goodbye or I'll bury you alive." She says with a threatening tone without looking back at him as she walks away.

Conan just meets her back and she walks away from him and he sits down again on his phone.

Building Entrance, 3:04 pm..

The car pulls over on the right as they reach the entrance of one of the famous buildings. Conan and Kogoro Mouri step out of the cab and stand infront of the tall building. "I don't get why they wanted you too you brat." Mouri says looking at the highschool boy next to him. Conan rolls his eyes and ignores him. 'I think they wanted me first but felt bad and brought you next' Conan thought snickering quietly.

They both started walking into the building and were greeted by a secretary. "Hello! You must be the famous Edogawa Conan and Mouri Kogoro, it is an honor to meet you both." Conan hides his slightly surprised expression and thinks to himself, since when was he supposedly called famous?

"The honor is mine really." Mouri says laughing as he flirts with the young secretary, Conan gives Mouri a look and fakes a smile. "The manager is waiting for you in his office on floor 24, second door to the left." The woman says as they walk towards the elevator, she walks back to her desk and types on her computer.

The elevator dings as they walk into it and press the floor designated to the manger's office. A few mins pass in awkward silence except for the unusual elevator music. They reach the 24th floor and step out going left and knocking on the second door they pass.

A faint come in is heard as they both open the door, a man facing big windows is infront of them a little far into the room, there's a desk behind him with a chair. Two security guards on both sides, the man turns around and smiles as Conan closes the door behind them.

"Ah finally, welcome, as you know I am the person who called you both, let me introduce myself, I am Tenya Toru, the owner of the Tenya Industries, I'm sure you already know that though." The guy flashes a smile as his white teeth sparkle, he walks over to them, shaking hands.

"You know the both of us too." Mouri says scratching his head with an awkward smile. "Yes I'm very thrilled for you to be here, I've heard of so many crimes you both solved and since you two were close I decided to invite both of you to solve this case." The guy's voice suddenly turns low and serious.

"A week ago, someone has been sending me death threats and tried to kill me once already, I kept all the notes they sent me in case things got serious and if I decided to contact a detective and they did when the person attacked me on my way to my company the other day, gaurd! bring me the notes." The guy calls for the man guarding his office and the man nods, opening a drawer and grabbing papers that seem like they're up to 3-4.

"There are 4 of those and one came up yesterday after they had tried to kill me." Conan and Mouri both took the papers and inspected them, they all said things like 'stop the announcement, or you'll be in trouble.' 'watch your back.' 'you got away this time but the next won't be so easy.'

"This last one is after they tried to kill you I suppose?" Mouri says looking up at the man then down at the papers again. "Yes and that's when I considered getting a detective, I remembered seeing you both on TV, although you're just a highschool boy, you have solved some extreme cases young man, that's why I was intrigued to get you." The man explains.

"Do you have any more leads that could get us to know the person, maybe anyone who you were in bad terms at the moment, an enemy perhaps? You're a big company, you're bound to have some challengers am I right?" Conan says talking to the guy, the man smirks and looks at him. "Yes of course, and in mention of that, there is someone who has been at my throat for a couple of months now."

That raises Conan's interest but suspicions as well. "My rival has been trying to get information out of my company and was also trying to get me to call off the announcement." The man says putting a hand to his chin in a thinking way. "Oh yes, the announcement, I was just about to ask about that, when is this and what is it for?" Mouri asks.

"I will announce the new ranked floor in this building, this evening." The guy answers. It caught Conan's attention. Why'd the man call them so late, and the same day he has a big announcement? In such a busy day he should be preparing.

"There won't be people other than my staff, and the news channels filming everything." The man says as he walks over to his desk and grabs his coffee and drinks it slowly.

"That lessens the danger, but still could be a little troublesome, why would that person want you to call off your announcement?" Mouri thinks aloud as the man gazes between the two detectives infront of him. He sighs and sits down in his desk chair.

"Well I'll leave the case up to you now, I have some work to do before the big announcement today, thank you for accepting my case, call me if you figure something out, here's my number." The guy snaps his finger as a guard walks over to the detectives and hands them a piece of paper that has the number written on it.

The two detectives nod as they exit his office and ride the elevator down to the main floor, the secretary waves at them as they exit the building and get a cab. They go to a restaurant and sit down ordering a small meal. Mouri starts eating while Conan gazes outside thinking about the case, he inspects the papers and thinks about the man's words. He still found him suspicious thinking back to his weird choice of wording.

"C'mon eat you brat, the great Mouri Kogoro has to think in a more quiet place." Mouri says flattering himself. "No need to, I solved it pops." Conan says with a smirk as Mouri looks at him confused.

Tenya Building 2, 6:38 pm..

News channels surround the big hall and flashing lights go on and off testing it before the live. Staff and guards surround the room, dressed in suits.

Two detectives stand near the small stage waiting for the man to walk up and make his announcement, they were supposed to be there to spot any suspicious people trying to do anything funny.

Finally, the guy walks up to the stage as lights surround him and cameras start filming indicating they were live. Conan remembers Haibara saying she'll be watching so she probably is right now.

"Hello everyone, I'm here to finally say the big announcement you all have been waiting for. The Tenya tower is officially open to the public with more updates to come.." The guy goes on with his announcement as Mouri inspects all the people here.

Conan isn't though. "Hey kid, help me look." Mouri whisper shouts for Conan to help but he just stands still. "Oi!" Mouri tries again, both the detective's attention was on the guy on the stage talking.

"..and today I have hired two detectives that you know very well because someone is after me and trying to ruin my project but that won't stop me." The guy says laughing.

Conan's suspicions were answered as he walks on the stage while Mouri stands there shocked. "I am Edogawa Conan the highschool detective he brought, it was a false alarm and no one is after Tenya's life anymore." Conan announces as the guy next to him smirks and whispers to him.

"So you've figured it out huh?" The man says to his ear as Conan nods and looks at the man. "Thank you for still being here detective, now let's move to the interviews!" The guy says but Conan grabs his arm before he moves. "Not so fast, you have stolen valuable information and rights to other companies and claimed them as yours, the police are already here, so surrender now." Conan says his grip tightening on his arm.

The man looks angrily at Conan and then at the cameras as the people all look shocked and continue filming. "You little brat! Guards! Lock this place down!" The man shouts as the guys do what he says, he locked in 6 news channels and two detectives, not letting the police in as well from the outside.

The man takes off running to the stairs and going up, he went three floors up, Conan following behind him, he reaches the door and opens it, revealing a huge room that has balconies all over making it look like a skyscraper.

Some news channels follow up behind them, the guy quickly pulls out a gun aiming it at Conan, he backs away looking at the man. Suddenly the man wasn't paying attention as all the people were filming them, Conan grabbed the gun from him and kicked him down.

The guy quickly got up though and threw a punch at Conan's face, he stumbled back catching his face and touching his nose as blood started to spill. He walked up to him before he could get the gun from the ground, he punched the guy in the gut as the guy doubled over in pain, Conan kicked the gun away, reaching the windows. The guy recovered from the punch and lunged at Conan again, throwing a punch at Conan's face but Conan dodged and grabbed his hand twisting it and kicking his feet from under him making him fall, he backed away before the guy could grab at his legs. He stood up again, this guy could fight, Conan had had enough though, he quickly grabbed at the man's back and tossed him over his shoulder throwing him on the ground with a grunt.

The police finally arrived from the helicopters and aimed the guns at the staff and the guy on the floor grunting in pain. Conan panted and grabbed his glasses from the floor, noticing they're broken.

The police finally cuffed all the bad guys and loaded them into their police cars. Conan and Mouri were now down at the entrance with all the police and news channels, the police were holding them off though. Suddenly from behind Conan, there was a tug and someone yanked him from behind, turning him to look at the person.

An angry looking girl gripped his shoulders as she inspected his injured face. Conan looked confusingly at Haibara. "What are you doing here-" he got cut off by her speaking. "What the hell were you thinking fighting that guy, look at you." She yelled at her boyfriend giving him a short lecture, he hid his broken glasses behind him and accepted the lecture he was getting.

"You made me worried you idiot." Haibara says ending her lecture. "Sorry..I had to stop him he was getting away, also he barely even touched me, did you see his injuries?" Conan says as Haibara gets out a tissue and cleans his lips and nose from the half dried blood.

"Don't do that again." She said pinning him with a dangerous look. He nods silently as she ruffles his hair. "Let's go home now, I'm tired." He says and she nods but they were stopped by a police officer.

"Thank you Conan-kun for helping us capture this guy, and you Mouri even though you didn't really help." Inspector Megure says as Mouri gives an annoyed look at Conan, they all left and went back home, Mouri also had a lecture from his daughter who yelled at him for leaving Conan like that, apparently the whole school knew about the incident that happened and so Conan became even more famous than before.

The next morning before school, both the shrunken adults were getting ready in Conan's kitchen in the Kudo Mansion. They were silently drinking their coffee before Conan spoke up. "Haibara.." He said quietly. Haibara turned to look at him. "I've chosen to stay as Conan now..I've got accustomed to him I guess and it's better for our friends and everyone else who got to know Conan, although I'll miss Shinichi.." Conan says eyes on the ground.

Haibara walks up to him and wraps her hands around his neck making him look at her. "Don't pressure yourself, it's okay, be who you want to be, I'll also still love you.." She says kissing the top of his head.

Conan relaxes into her touch and wraps his hands around her waist. "You're right.." He says looking at her with a smile, he kisses her deeply and pulls her close to him. He quickly pulls away after a minute. "Shït! We're gonna be late for school!"

Hii my lovelies, this chapter was a bit long but I enjoyed writing it, we're getting closer to the end of this book, I've decided to end it in a few chapters, I might start another book about topics like angst, I have some good ideas on it, hope you enjoyed this chapter, I'll see you in the next chapter <3
