Train Incident

This takes place a month after the previous chapter.

Shibuya Train Station, 3:31 pm..

Haibara and Conan were waiting for the train to go to Osaka, they were meeting with Heiji, he told Conan that Heizo Hattori, his father, had found out about Kaito's next hunt that will be in a few days, Heiji said he and Haibara could stay at his place in the meantime.

And so now that leads them here, they were in their adult forms, Haibara, now Shiho Myiano, says it'll last for the few days in Osaka.

Shiho yawned as the train arrived. "Finally." Shinichi says as they both get up and walk towards the train, they sit down as the guy on the speaker announces their next destination.

Shinichi spots a guy talking on his phone from the corner of his eyes, he didn't hear what he said on the phone but he seemed shady, Shinichi brushed it off as the guy got off the train.

"What's got your attention?" Shiho asks as Shinichi turns to her direction. "Nothing, I thought I saw something." She shrugs and looks out the window, admiring the city.

10 mins have gone by and Shinichi gets up to go to the washroom. He enters and looks at himself in the mirror, showing his usual smirk, he was back in his body, he obviously had to make the most of it. He washed his hands and fixed his hair and left the restroom.

On his way back to his seat, he heard another person talking on the phone, he seemed younger though, in his twenties maybe.

Suddenly the man had a horror look on his face and started yelling at his phone. Shinichi went to ask what's wrong. "Hey man, you good?" The guy looked at Shinichi and nervously said. "There are 3 bombs here! A guy who hates me planted them to get revenge on me! We're gonna die!"

Now Shinichi had a horror look on his face. "Sir wait, did the man tell you how much time we have left." Shinichi asked. "It doesn't matter, it's not enough time to reach Osaka!" The guy was really stressed. "Sir don't tell this to anyone else, I'll fix this." Shinichi said before leaving.

He went to his seat and sat down. He was thinking of what to do but he had to stop the bombs, he didn't know where they are though. "Okay what is it you weirdo." He heard Shiho ask him. He turned towards her and an idea popped in his head. "Do you still have your laptop?" He asked.

"Yea?" She said confused. "Okay, prepare yourself for what I'm about to say." He turned his body all the way to her direction. "Go on." "Okay so I just bumped into a guy on my way back from the washroom and he has told me there are 3 bombs here..and that a guy was trying to get revenge on him so that's why he planted them, and I'm trying to defuse them so I don't know where they are, but they're somewhere here."

Shiho had kind of a shocked face. "Is this a joke?" She asked in a completely neutral face. "No?" She sighed and thought for a while. "Okay I have an idea." She said before she opened her bag and got her laptop out. "I'll find out where the bombs are and then you do the rest, deal?"

Shinichi looked at her dumbfounded. "You know how to find them?" He asked "Obviously, the train has the most basic settings." She said typing something on her computer. "Something tells me you've done this before.." Shinichi says with a smirk.

"Okay stop wasting time we gotta defuse a bomb right." She says still typing. After a few mins she was done and showed her laptop to Shinichi. "What am I looking at right now?" He asked, Shiho sighed and turned her laptop towards her. "Over here, at the end of the cart, there's a bomb on the side. There's another one in the far back of the train in one of the top shelves, then the last one is..in the fuel area." She says and looks at Shinichi.

He sighs and thinks. "I need scissors and tweezers." He says and looks at her. "I have small scissors from my sewing kit." She said as she got it out, she handed the scissors over to him. "Now where would I get tweezers." Shiho looked at him with a serious look. "Are you dumb..you packed one with you this morning."

Shinichi remembers and puts a hand on his head. "Ohh yeahh, you're right.." he chuckles, Shiho sighs and waits for him to get it out of his bag. "Alright got it, now I'll be going before we all die." He said and Shiho gave him a playful shove.

He walked over to the end of the cart and looked for it, he crouched down and finally saw it on the side. The timer said 20:11 minutes and counting down. 'Hopefully it would be enough time.' Shinichi thought.

He started to slowly cut off the wires by the data that Shiho gave him, it looked sort of like a motherboard. He was sweating a little and was getting anxious. Finally after 5 mins he was done with the first bomb.

He walked back to Shiho and she was typing on her laptop. "I'm done with the first one." He said wiping sweat off his forehead. "What are you waiting for? Go defuse the other two, unless you want to.." she says teasing him. "What, no I don't wanna die, I'm going right now, it's on the other side of the train right?" He said and she nodded, he walked all the way to the place and found it hidden up the shelves, it said 13:44 mins.

He started to defuse this too and suddenly a red light came out from it and 2 mins were counting down. He stressed out as he realized the mistake of cutting the white wire but he fixed it when he cut another one. He felt relief as he saw the timer back in its original time. 'i have to capture the guy who planted those, I'll inform the police about it I guess.' he thought as he was almost done cutting the wires.

High Road Of Metro, 4:45 pm..

He was done with the second bomb and was getting more nervous. He saw Shiho walking over to him and turned to her. "Why aren't you at our seats?" He asked her, she has a serious look on her face and was holding her laptop. "There's a problem, since the last bomb's in the heating room, it's programmed to count down faster, starting at 4:50 pm, which is right about a few seconds from now."

She says as Shinchi's face switches to worried. "What do you mean?? I have time to defuse it right?" He asks. "Well it's at 9 mins right now so do you think you can handle it with 2x speed." She says turning to him.

"I'll see, if things get worse, I'll send you a message to contact the guy driving the train along with the passengers, we'll make an emergency stop." He says and she nods. "I'll sit a bit closer to the driving room then." He nods and walks away to the boilers room.

'8 mins from now, it's enough time..' Shinchi thought as he entered the boiler room, it was really hot in there, he spotted the bomb in the centre and it indeed was ticking faster than normal, he brought the scissors and got to work. 3 mins in and he was done with cutting the wires, but the bomb didn't stop..

Shinichi had a confused look and scanned the motherboard-shaped thing, he did cut all the wires..then why wasn't the bomb stopped?

He got out of the boilers room and saw the same guy he met. "Oh thank god I found you, that guy called me again and found out 2 bombs have been defused so..he hacked the last bomb and it can't be stopped now."

Shinchi couldn't believe the news, he quickly got out his phone and called Shiho. "Shiho! Tell the guy to evacuate everyone immediately, I think we barely have 5 mins." Shiho didn't waste any time and went to the driver and told them the news.

Now the speakers were on, people heard the news and started to panic, they will be making an emergency spot in 3 mins, because they can't stop anywhere else. Shiho went over to Shinichi. "I'll go make sure we have enough time." Shinichi says. "And I'll help the people evacuate." They nod at each other and separate.

The train finally stops and everyone quickly evacuates, the timer was 40 seconds now. Everyone got out and Shiho was looking for Shinichi, she went to the boiler room and saw him trying to still fix the bomb. "Shinichi leave it let's go." She calls for him. "Why didn't you evacuate, go quickly, I'm trying something." He says not even looking at her.

20 seconds.

"Don't joke around at a time like this." She says pulling him up. He gives in and acknowledges the time.

10 seconds.

'Shït.' He thought as he quickly picked up Shiho bridal style in his arms earning a gasp from her.

5 seconds.

"Hold on tight." He says before quickly reaching the door and jumping out, Shiho closed her eyes. A loud explosion erupted and the pressure pushed on Shinichi as he stumbled but held Shiho close to him, shielding her from the damage.

The people were already away from he area when the bomb exploded. Shinichi got up, still holding Shiho in his arms. He walked towards the police that they had called earlier. He had just hurt his knees from the fall but they were bleeding.

He set Shiho on the ground and she inspected Shinichi for any injuries as her gaze landed on his knees. "The guy who planted the bombs was captured, please come with us for questioning." An officer said as they got in the car.

"He's hurt, get him a bandage or something." Shiho says sitting beside him. Shinichi looks at her with a smile. "I'm fine, it's just a little scratch." "We will help him at the station don't worry ma'am." Shiho just sighed.

"Thank you for protecting me.." she said looking at him. "Of course Shi." He says smiling and kisses her cheek. They were now in Osaka on the way to their police station.
