9 - Intervention

"You're really ending it?" Shinobu asks, her voice breaking. Tears are flowing from her eyes as she tightly grips the ledge of the balcony

Giyu is looking only straight ahead at the sunset. He stands there silent, but he couldn't hear Shinobu's heart crumbling right beside him

Giyu looks cruel

He's not even looking at her

Hell, he doesn't even look like he cares

Just letting their relationship crumble into pieces

Shinobu thinks that maybe Giyu's grown tired. Tired of fixing them when Shinobu can't. Tired of standing outside her house in the rain because Shinobu's upset

Maybe Giyu has done too much and Shinobu has done too little

"Yes" Giyu says, so cold and soulless it breaks Shinobu's heart even more "I'm sorry"

"Why?" She yearns for an answer. She hopes it's one that will make the pain lessen,

but it doesn't

"I don't love you anymore, Shinobu"

Shinobu enters her home and is surprised when her two sisters are looking at her with an eyebrow raised and hands at their waists

"Hello?"

"Hello, indeed" Kanae says with a teasing smile. Shinobu is still confused at what's happening

"That's three times already" Kanao states with a cheeky smile. "That Giyu has brought you home" Kanae adds, and Shinobu understands what's happening

"So?" Shinobu walks past her sisters into the living room and puts her bag down

"What do you mean 'so?' You two back together or something?" Shinobu's eyes widen at Kanae's statement

"WHAT?!" Shinobu yelled which made the two cover their ears

"It's not a crazy assumption" Kanao adds before the two sit across from Shinobu who sits down too "First and second time I decided to ignore, but third? You can't blame me for asking questions now" Kanae explained, wiggling her eyebrows to tease Shinobu. A mannerism she got from Shinobu's best friend

Shinobu sighed, she admits it is fair

"His place is closest to mine so they task him to bring me home. I can't exactly deny the offer" Shinobu explains calmly

"Why not?" Kanao asks, tilting her head. "I don't want to Uber or wait for a taxi. It's less safe than just going with him" Shinobu calmly explains again

"So-" Shinobu drinks water from a random glass at the table and turns her attention to her older sister

"Why aren't you two back together?" Shinobu almost spits the water out

"You can't ask me that while I'm drinking water!" Shinobu whines while her sisters laugh. She glares at Kanae before sighing

"Why would we? I don't like him anymore, he doesn't like me anymore" Shinobu explains plainly, but the two raise an eyebrow

"Sure you don't like him anymore" Kanae says in a dismissive tone

"Yes"

"Don't believe it"

"Then don't ask me questions if you won't believe the answer" Shinobu crosses her arms and pouts while her sisters laugh at her reaction

"Shinobu, I'm only saying this because you aren't always very honest with yourself" Kanae says which makes Shinobu raise a brow

"What do you mean?"

"You and Giyu only got together because we pushed you" Kanao reminded her, and her older sister nods along

"I needed to give a whole pep talk so you could even consider liking him, and look at that, you did" Kanae adds

"I know, I know. But now I'm more honest with how I feel. Promise." Shinobu says with a hopeful look that they would believe her

"Sure"

"If you say so"

A nerve pops from her forehead as her sisters dismiss her answer once again

"You two are a waste of time to talk to. I'm going to bed" Shinobu walks upstairs to a chorus of giggles from her sisters

"You saw that smile when she entered the house, Kanao?" her little sister nods "Too obvious" Kanao giggles
