“Eva, princess. Wake up now, you need to go to school, baby...." I said, trying to wake her up, Wonwoo has already left for work early today as he had an important meeting, this morning.

"Eva..." I called her softly, reaching out to caress her head but i felt her forehead burning hot. She stirred in her sleep. “Mu.. Mumma... It hurts... Head... Body." She whispered, looking at me with half-lid eyes. I placed away the pillow which was beside her and sat down by her head. “Oh.. yes baby. Wait okay Mumma will call the doctor.” I caressed her head, and reached out for my phone on the nightstand table.

Quickly and hurriedly dialing our family doctor, they said they will be here, in some time. I went to the bathroom bringing a small bowl and a napkin, wetting it, I placed it on her burning forehead. Feeling worried, she reached out trying to hold me. I extended my hand letting her smaller one hold onto mine. I sat by her head caressing her small knuckles with my thumb and with the other hand, her hair. I brought her hand to my lips, planting a long kiss on the back of her hand, with a sigh.

I decided that I'll leave a text to Wonwoo that Eva had a fever, since calling will be a little troublesome if he is in a meeting, Staying under the same roof for a couple of months now I was really falling for that icy man. Because of the way he loved his daughter. And he was a gentleman to be honest because he has never once behaved rudely with me, he is just cold and guarded because he had been once betrayed, he is just protecting himself and his heart. And I'll wait and try my best to melt down his cold walls.

Soon the doorbell rang, I assumed the doctor must be here a maid came to tell me the doctor was here. I told her to send her in.

After a moment there was a knock on the door. “Yes?" A woman in her mid forties walked inside with a smile. “Oh Mrs. Jeon? Can you tell me if she was feeling any difference, in a few days.” The doctor asked, while checking Eva. I shook my head.

“She was alright and playing around just before the bed, when I went to wake her up in the morning, she was burning." I explained. Caressing Eva's arm which was in my hand.

The doctor was done checking her. “There is nothing much to worry about, it's just the climate change and viral flu. Don't worry, here are these prescribed medicines she will be alright, within a couple of days.” I nodded, sighing in relief that it's not anything serious, she handed me a prescribed note.

“Thank you so much.” I said, grateful that she came with just one call. “No, no. I have known the Jeon family for a long time, so it was my responsibility. And it was nice meeting you, Mrs. Jeon. I'm glad that Eva has such a caring mother. And don't hesitate to give me a call if you have any queries.” She said, as she patted my hand.  I smiled and nodded thankfully. As a maid escorted her out.

“Princess? Can Mumma go make you some porridge to eat?” I softly asked, my little girl. She was holding my hand tightly seeking comfort. “No.. Mumma stay.. need Mumma...” She mumbled weakly. So I sat there till she fell asleep. When she was asleep, I carefully got out of the bed and walked back in the kitchen.

I quickly made some porridge, “Mrs. Jeon? Miss Eva is calling out to you.” The head maid informed me. I nodded, smiling. And quickly went towards the bedroom, with a bowl of porridge for her.

I walked towards the bed placing the tray on the bedside table. And cradle her in my arms while draping the blanket on her. “Yes baby, Mumma is here. Shh.." I softly whispered, caressing her back.

“Mumma... Hungry..." She mumbled, i caressed her hair. “I know, princess. That's why Mumma bought porridge for her princess." I said, making her sit properly on my lap, she kept her head leaned on my chest. While I started to feed her, blowing each spoonful so that she doesn't burn her mouth. When she finished the bowl. I gave her the prescribed medicine I told the chauffeur to bought. Then with her swallowing that I got up with her still in my arms now her small arms wrapping around my neck, and she placed her head in the crook of my neck.

I patted her back, swaying her back and forth and walking around to the room. “Mumma ... Don't goo...” She mumbled, softly. “Yes Angel Mumma is not going anywhere.” I said, holding her close and walking around, I went down with her still in my arms. And told the cleaning staff, that they can go back now, since it was almost noon.

I walked around the living room until Eva's breathing became even and quiet. I assumed she was asleep now but her grip on my tshirt didn't loosened as if she loosened it and I would disappear. I went upstairs, trying to put her on the bed, but she didn't let me go, so I gave up and just sat on the couch in the living room going downstairs back, while working, on my laptop, with her still sleeping on my one shoulder.

Just when my phone dinged, causing me to look at it. It was Wonwoo texting me back. That he will be back in an hour, his meeting was almost over. I just quickly, sent “Okay, and eat something for your lunch, i couldn't cook.” and kept it aside.

Yes I didn't eat anything after breakfast as looking at Eva's condition i didn't have any appetite to eat also couldn't cook anything leaving her alone. I was just working carefully not to disturb her sleep, she was sleeping soundly.

Eva would stir ever so slightly, in her sleep, snuggling more close in my neck, seeking warmth. From me, but never loosening my grip on my tshirt. ...'Stupid idiot' special mv is here and both of them are so 🥺
