Kaji's POV

I crack open one of my eyes, and immediately feel refreshed. I only got about 2 hours of sleep, but I usually only get 4. I sit up and stretch my hands up over my head. I couldn't wipe the silly grin that was plastered on my face.

I throw the covers off of my legs and get up to go to the bathroom. I silently pad to the bathroom, brushing my teeth and putting my hair in its usual high ponytail. I splash cold water on my face, and pat my face down with a towel. I look up into the mirror, examining my reflection.

I slightly scowl, before a grin comes back on my face. I walk out of the bathroom and the room I was staying in, and walk downstairs.

"Good morning my fellow ninja!" I exclaim happily.

They all look at me as if my head was a big toe.

"Umm... Good morning?" They say to me, still confused as to why I am in such a good mood.

"Hey, where is Naruto?" Now it was my chance to be confused.

"Oh, Naruto is sleeping in because he needs to replenish his chakra." Kakashi replies breezily.

I smile a wide grin at him before nodding my head as a thank you. Everyone's eyes are on me as I pull out a chair and absentmindedly sit next to Sasuke. Tsunami brings me some rice balls, and I thank her happily.

She blushes and chuckles at my enthusiasm, "No problem Kaji."

I start to munch on the rice balls greedily, my teammates looking at me as if I was a different creature.

"Sensei, is Kaji ok?" Sakura whispers to Kakashi. I hear them, but I am to busy daydreaming to actually care.

"She doesn't usually act like this." Sasuke says, nodding his head slightly.

"I'll ask her," Kakashi says while facing his two students. "Kaji? Why are you so happy today?" Kakashi asks me.

I snap out of my daydream and turn to flash a sloppy grin at him, "Am I not allowed to be happy?" I ask him cheerily.

I finish my remaining rice balls and chug down the rest of my tea, slamming my fist onto the table lightly. "Alright guys! Let's go!" I shout happily at them.

Taking the obvious hint that I was ready for some action, Kakashi breathes in deeply and gives me my orders. "Kaji, you go down to the bridge and guard Tazuna, he left a couple of minutes ago. Sasuke, Sakura, and I will all finish breakfast and then come to help you guard him."

"Yes sensei!" I say, while saluting him. I started to walk out the door, but I felt a hand grab my wrist.

"Jeez, wait up. I just finished." Sasuke tells me.

I smile at him, his touch reminding me of his brothers. I sigh dreamily while looking at the ceiling, feeling Sasuke let go of my wrist. He opens the door for me and makes a gesture to get me out of the door.

I skip out the door and start walking on the path to the bridge. Sasuke jogs to me, and turns his head to stare at me.

"So what's up, Sasuke?" I ask him happily.

"Why are you so happy all of a sudden? Especially around me?" He asks. Heh, no beating around the bush, just like his brother.

"You just remind me of someone that makes me really, really, happy!" I tell him cheerily, a closed eye smile becoming the icing on the cake.

"Who?" He asks, really curious.

I laugh at him, "I do believe that is none of your business." I tell him. I look ahead and see Tazuna piling brick after brick into one pile.

I jog over to him, "Hey Tazuna! You need any help?" I ask him.

"Uhh... Sure kid. Just lift this pile of bricks to that pile," He says, pointing to a neatly stacked pile of bricks, "and throw away any broken bricks over the bridge."

"You got it!" I tell him enthusiastically.

I lift one brick, just to feel how much it weighs. Each brick weighs about 6 pounds, so I grab about 20 bricks. I swiftly walk over to the neatly stacked pile, and carefully put all my bricks on top of it. I repeat the process, sometimes throwing a broken brick off the edge of the bridge.

"Hello Sasuke, Kaji." I hear Kakashi say to us. I feel a couple new heartbeats come near the bridge but I shrug it off. Probably here to help.

We all help Tazuna, all the while keeping a sharp eye for any enemy coming. I feel Kakashi tense a little bit.

"Hey Kakashi why did you get so tense all of a-" I ask him, but soon realize why. All of the workers lay unconscious on the ground, except Tazuna. How did I not notice their heartbeats!

I smile, before shouting to nothing in particular, "Hey Zabuza! Long time no see!"

I hear a chuckle from all around us.

"Aww look at the Kakashi. One of your brats is shaking!" Zabuza says tauntingly, as 6 water clones sprout from the ground and surround us.

"I'm shaking... with excitement!" Sasuke tells us, excited to finally get some action. Sasuke immediately kills all 6 of Zabuza's water clones, and lands back in front of us.

I notice Haku step out from behind Zabuza.

"Well! My water clones were obviously no match for you! It seems the brats have matured quite a bit... Into worthy rivals, eh Haku?" Zabuza says.

"Indeed master." Haku replies.

"Looks like my prediction was right." Kakashi says. "Our mysterious masked friend, is playing on Zabuza's team."

"He has some nerve showing up like this!" Sakura yells angrily.

"That was quite a show you put on before, but we're on to you now... and I hate actors!" Sasuke tells Haku.

Sakura squeals. "What a fan girl..." I mutter under my breath.

"Impressive kid, isn't he? Even if your water clones had only a tenth of the strength of the original. It's amazing he was able to do so well. But we're still on the offensive. Go!" Zabuza says to Haku.

"Yes sir." Haku says obediently.

Haku immediately appears next to Sasuke, aiming to get Sasuke with a kunai. However, Sasuke being from the Uchiha clan, he dodges and blocks Haku's kunai with his own.

"Sakura! Kaji! You are to protect Tazuna, stay close to each other! Let Sasuke handle Haku." Kakashi tells us.

"I don't want to have to kill you, but, you won't leave quietly... will you?" Haku asks Sasuke quietly.

"Don't be stupid." Sasuke replies coldly.

"Just as I thought... However, you won't be able to match my speed for long, plus, I have two key advantages." Haku tells Sasuke, pressing a little harder on his kunai now.

"Firstly, there's water splattered all around us. Secondly, I've trapped one of your hands, leaving you only one other to defend yourself!" Haku says to Sasuke.

Haku starts to rapidly make hand signs with his free hand, and I widen my eyes, along with everyone else except Zabuza.

'Two hands?!' I think loudly.

"Secret art of water! A thousand needles of death!" Haku exclaims. Water begins to rise off of the ground, forming into sharp water needles.

"Sasuke!!" Sakura yells.

"Yelling won't help Sasuke win this battle." I tell her.

The water needles rapidly proceed to Sasuke, however the training that Kakashi told me about must have helped him. He focuses chakra into the soles of his feet and jumps really high into the air, dodging all of the needles. The needles crash into each other, going back to being a puddle on the ground.

Sasuke quickly makes himself go behind Haku, "Now you're the one who has to worry... about defending yourself against my attacks!" Sasuke tells him.

Sasuke goes to punch Haku, but Haku ducks. Wrong move. Sasuke uses Haku's position to kick him about 2 feet away from Zabuza. Haku skids back, using his hands to stop himself from crashing into his master.

"You had that coming, for underestimating me team. He may not look like much, but Sasuke here is the top-rated rookie from all of Konoha. Sakura here, has the sharpest mindset and probably the best strategist. Kaji, well, she is pretty much a mystery. But she could probably kick your ass." I smirk in victory at that comment, "And last but not least, Konoha's number one knuckle head ninja. Naruto Uzumaki." Kakashi tells Zabuza proudly.

I feel the air get a chill, how refreshing! Everyone else shivers, and I see Haku making rapid hand signs. "I'm sorry it had to come to this.." Haku mutters.

A bunch of mirrors form around Sasuke, trapping him inside the middle. I could tell that used a big amount of chakra.

Kakashi tries to jump in to save his student, but Zabuza stops him.

"Your fight is with me." Zabuza says to Kakashi, growling slightly.

I concentrate on Zabuza. Although Haku is strong, I have full faith in Sasuke to win that battle.

"I'm sorry Tazuna, but I have to go help Sasuke." Sakura says, trying to run off. I grasp her wrist in a very strong grip, preventing her from going anywhere.

"You will not interfere with that battle. You will stay here and guard Tazuna with me, understood?" I tell her.

"But-" Sakura starts.

"If you really liked Sasuke, you would recognize how strong he is. Have faith in all of your comrades Sakura." I tell her, softly yet firmly.

I let go of her wrist, and thank kami, she doesn't rush to go save Sasuke. I hear grunts and heavy breathing coming from the mirror room, but divert my attention back to Zabuza.

I hear someone's familiar heart beat approaching, and a huge puff of smoke rises into the air. As it disappears, I see Naruto there, doing a stupid pose.

"Here I am, to save the day! You know how it goes, things look bleak and the hero arrives-" Naruto starts to ramble but is cut off when shuriken get flung at him. He gets into a defensive positing, but all of the shuriken fall to the ground. Haku blocked them with his senbon.

"Haku! What are you doing!" Zabuza yells.

"Zabuza sir, please let me fight this boy, my own way." Haku asks politely.

"Still as soft as ever, Haku... Sure, whatever, have him." Zabuza tells him.

Naruto, like the idiot he is, walks right into the ice mirrors. "Yo Sasuke! I'm here to save ya!" He says dumbly.

"YOU IDIOT!" I roar at him.

I hear Sasuke and Naruto start to argue and I block them out.

"-the bloodlines of those of the purest shinobi pedigree. Some of the most extraordinary techniques are handed down from generation to generation, solely on that basis." Kakashi says.

"Wait, you're talking about kekkai genkai's right?" I ask him, making sure I heard him right.

"Precisely. It's of the same order as my sharingan... but even my sharingan can't copy this boy's kekkai genkai." Kakashi informs us.

I turn my head and focus my hearing on the ice dome.

"It can't end like this! I've got a dream to fulfill!" Naruto yells, out of breathe. He sounds like he is really struggling.

"Sakura, will you be ok to protect Tazuna by yourself? I need to go check on the boys." I ask her.

"Yeah, sure.. Just make sure they are safe, ok Kaji?" She requests.

"Sure. You got my word!" I tell her.

I stroll over to the ice dome, slowly and quietly. The dome is pretty far away, and I can't risk Zabuza blocking my way. I walk over there, suddenly feeling a deadly aura emitting from the dome. I immediately run over there, not caring if Zabuza sensed my presence move.

"I'M GONNA KILL YOU!" I hear a deep voice yell, pure fury coming off of it.

The ice dome shatters into a million tiny shards, and I cover my face so no shards pierce my face or neck. I feel some embed into my arms, but I've felt worse.

I take my arms off of my face, only to see Naruto with an evil red, sharp chakra surrounding him. I can feel the chakra from here, it's as if you had a horrible sunburn and a cat decides to scratch it non stop. I try to find Sasuke, but I can't see him. I look towards the ground, and gasp.

Sasuke covered in senbon needles. No heart beat.

A lone tear comes out of my eye, before I start to see red.

He murdered my friend. He took his life away from him. He made Naruto lose a person close to him.

I feel that same deadly aura come from me, my Teishi-tai activating. I can feel the light blue chakra surrounding me, and I can feel my hair get ragged and sharp. My teeth enlarge, as if I was taking on a human from of Minoru. The light blue chakra spreads over my body like a cloak, much like the one Naruto is covered in right now, and I swipe my hand in mid air to disable one of Haku's arm permanently.

"Was it you, who took the life of my friend?" I ask him with a deadly low voice, rage threatening to make me stop his heart right then and there.

"Yes." He croaks out.

Naruto goes at him and punches and kicks him non stop, then kicks him one time across the bridge. His mask falls to the ground, and just as Naruto was about to deliver the finishing blow, he stops his fist right in front of his face.

"Why did you stop Naruto! KILL HIM!" I yell at him, fury soaking every inch of me.

"Yes, why did you stop? Is what you said just an empty promise? Don't you want to get revenge for your friend?" Haku asks.

Naruto looks shocked.

"Kill me Naruto. I am nothing but a broken tool, I am of no further use to Zabuza." Haku pleads.

Although he looks sad, Naruto's eyes hold something. The desire for revenge.

"You know Haku, under different circumstances, we could have been friends." Naruto says sadly, as he races towards Haku with a kunai at hand. At the last second, Haku stops Naruto.

"Sorry, my usefulness hasn't been used up yet." Haku mutters. "Goodbye Naruto, goodbye Kaji." He tells us.

I hear a bunch of birds chirping, then see a flash. I look to my right to see Haku in front of Zabuza, who is being held down by a pack of dogs, with Kakashi's hand through his chest.

He falls limp to the floor, but Kakashi catches him and slides him far away from us.

Zabuza chuckles, "Looks like he was of some use after all."

Naruto looks at him with disbelief. Throughout my rage, I didn't sense the mass of heartbeats coming towards us.

"Well, well, well, not looking like much of a demon now are you Zabuza?" A short guy says. This must be Gato. "You look about as threatening as a wet kitten." He laughs.

He looks down at Haku with disgust and moves to kick the boy. I never really liked Haku, but everyone should respect the dead. Gato kicks Haku, and Naruto yells over to Zabuza.

"Are you just gonna let him do that! Haku was your friend!"

"No, he wasn't, just a merely a tool that was of use to me. I used Haku, just like Gato used me." Zabuza states emotionless.

"What!? Haku sacrificed his own life just to keep your dream alive! And you only think... that he is a tool?! Man, if that's what you actually think, that's the saddest thing I've ever heard! If I ever get to be as strong as you... will I become evil too?" Naruto yells at Zabuza.

"Your... your words cut deeper than any blade." He tells Naruto, tears dripping out of his eyes. "Haku felt emotions, and now curse him, I feel them too!"

"Sorry Zabuza, but you were just getting a little to expensive. So I decided to remove you from the payroll, and if you could kill a few of these ninja then that would be great." Gato says.

"Wow, you sure are short. You didn't measure up to my standards Gato" I yell over to him, cracking up at my pun. Cause he is short and measure- you get the point.

Zabuza bites off his bandages covering his mouth and everyone gasps.

"Surprised? Even I am a human being." Zabuza says, "Boy! Hand me your kunai!" He yells over to Naruto.

Naruto passes Zabuza a kunai, which he catches in-between his sharp teeth, and sprints towards Gato. Gato, being the coward he is, runs to the edge of the bridge and commands his henchmen to attack Zabuza. Relentlessly, Zabuza passes through, killing some of the mediocre henchmen. However, he gets several knives and spears lodged into his back. He stabs a kunai straight through Gatos heart, killing him.

All of the henchmen look scared as Zabuza struggles to get back to Haku, only making it half way there. I walk towards him, and yank all of the spears out of his back.

"You are a pretty splendid ninja, Zabuza." I tell him, as I prop him up on my back, carrying him to Haku.

He chuckles a little bit, "Thanks kid. You aren't half bad yourself. Hey, can you bury me and Haku next to each other?" He asks, struggling to get the words out of his mouth. I nod my head yes, and he breathes, well wheezes, out a relieved sigh.

I place him next to Haku, and hear him mutter a few words to him. I feel snow land on my nose, and I look back down to see Zabuza slowly closing his eyes.

"You are a good ninja, Kaji. I have to go now... be with... Haku." He finishes, his eyes closing, signaling that he has died. I shed one tear over him, he wouldn't want me to cry any more. I don't even know why I'm crying. Probably because this reminds me of my brother.

"Hey! Who is gonna pay us now?" One goon shouts.

"If no one is gonna pay up, then we should just go raid that village!" Another suggests.

They all agree, but before they do that, I make a wall of my clones.

"You will do no such-" I was cut off when one arrow made its way in front of the goons.

"To get to the village, you are gonna have to get through us first!" A hoard of villagers appear with pitchforks and knives, you know just a casual riot.

All of the goons retreat, and I smile softly.

I trudge over to Sasuke, falling on my knees next to him.

"I'm sorry... I couldn't save you, Sasuke." I tell him, as my world fades into black.
