Kakashi's POV
"Ahhh, good morning everyone!" Sakura yawns.
I watch her sit down at the table, and Tsunami comes over with some tea in her hand.
"Here you go." Tsunami says with a smile.
I can't help but fidget with my gloves, I just have a feeling something is going to go wrong today.
"So Naruto isn't here? Looks like he was out all night again." Tazuna says, as I keep fidgeting with my gloves. What is making me so nervous? I feel a questioning glance from Kaji, as she looks to me and narrows her eyes.
I widen my eyes a fraction, no genin should be able to do that! Did she hear it, or feel it? How would she have known I was growing anxious?
"Yeah! He's gone completely crazy, he's been out climbing trees in the dark." Sakura explains to Tazuna. I feel a slight growl come from Kaji's throat, but I can tell she pushed most of it back. Sakura, being the oblivious person she is, didn't hear her warning sign.
"He could be dead by now, you know, from using up too much of his chakra." Sakura drones on, completely uncaring as to whether her comrade could have dropped dead by now. I can feel Kaji growing angrier and angrier with her teammate. I give it a couple minutes before she pounces on Sakura, 5 tops. As her sensei, I know I shouldn't be saying this, but Sakura needed to be taught a lesson on teamwork. She obviously doesn't understand it.
"Well I certainly hope he is ok." Tsunami says to everyone. "A child spending the nights in the woods alone." She says, almost disapprovingly.
"There's nothing to worry about. Naruto is a goofy kid, but he is a full-fledged ninja. He can handle himself." I say, covering up my anxiousness with my bored face.
"Psh, yeah right. Naruto didn't pass the exams three times! I bet he is out there gathering the buzzards. I could care less about him." Sakura says, probably trying to impress Sasuke.
Kaji immediately rises from her chair, making it scrape on the hardwood floor. She removes her clenched hands from the table, and stomps over to Sakura's seat. Kaji grabs a fistful of Sakura's clothing, and slams Sakura into the floor.
"Tsunami, can you sit down on a chair? I don't want to make you fall to the floor." Kaji demands. Tsunami obeys Kaji's orders, and I feel my legs stop working. It's a weird feeling, almost like you got your legs chopped off, like they are just a ghostly part of your body.
She obviously temporarily paralyzes Sakura, and I can see fear coming off the pink haired girl in waves.
"You listen here Sakura, if you weren't so incompetent, then maybe you realize that Sasuke isn't a fucking all-mighty being. Although he doesn't show it, and will probably never admit it, he cares deeply for Naruto. Just because Sasuke acts like he doesn't care, doesn't mean he couldn't be worried on the inside. Even a prick like Sasuke cares for Naruto. Instead of trying to copy Sasuke why don't you forge your own god damn path. If you stopped worshipping Sasuke, maybe he would start to enjoy your presence. Don't you ever, ever, take your comrades for granted. You never know when they could all disappear." Kaji says to her.
She throws Sakura on the floor harshly.
She turns back to Sasuke and myself, and with a sarcastic smile, "I am going to go look for my friend." Kaji says to us. "I'll be right back."
The feeling in my muscles come back to me, and I twitch my toes just to get the feeling back.
I hear another chair move, and I see Sasuke walking out the door. He turns towards me and tells me that he will be going on a walk.
It's painfully obvious that he is going to go look for Naruto with Kaji.
Without sparing Sakura a glance, he shuts the door behind him and I hear his footsteps get farther and farther away from us.
I see Inari smile softly at the door, before getting out of his chair.
I raise a brow at him, "Let me guess, you are gonna go for a walk too?" I say sarcastically.
Inari chuckles boyishly, "No, I'm just going to go help my mom with the dishes."
I look at him, kind of confused by his drastically changed attitude. I know Kaji talked to him, but I didn't know her speech could have turned his attitude about life around 180 degrees.
I'll have to ask her about that.
Sasuke's POV (whoa what?!)
I shut the door softly, and my face automatically turns into a scowl.
'How could she know that? Is she that good at reading emotions? I'll have to ask her how she does that... it could come in handy one day.' I think to myself.
I think a little deeper about Kaji. I wonder what happened to her, she seems like she has been through a similar situation to myself.
'What she said was true though... not even I know why I care for that loser. He'll probably just hold me down... yeah... I don't care for him at all.' I try to convince myself.
I hear voices coming from a little ways ahead.
I run over there to make sure nothing was wrong, only to see Kaji holding a girl in a headlock with a kunai to her heart. She slowly releases the girl from the headlock and puts the kunai back in her pouch.
I see the girl look at her arms, confused as to why one of them didn't work. Huh, so she used her kekkai genkai on her.
"What happened?" I ask Kaji, knowing that Naruto would've given me a stupid answer.
"I just saw a stranger touching Naruto, I thought he would hurt him." She replies back, still cautious of the strange girl.
I nod at her in understanding.
"Well, I must be off." The girl says to us, "Thank you Naruto, for helping me pick these herbs." She says, pointing to the basket on her hip.
"No problem!" Naruto yells back at her.
She starts walking away, but turns around and smiles at Naruto. "Oh and Naruto? I'm a boy."
She walks away, as Naruto whispers, "B-but he was prettier than Sakura!"
I shake my head and sigh as I walk away, Naruto yelling behind me.
Kaji's POV
I hear Naruto whisper something about how pretty that boy was, but I didn't catch all of it because my thoughts are clouded.
'I recognize him from somewhere... where?' I ask in my mind.
I look back to see Naruto chasing after Sasuke. I look back to where that boy walked off too and weighed my options.
'Ok, either find out the truth and possibly get killed... or just go back to Tazuna's house.'
'We all know which one you are gonna choose Kaji.' Minoru chuckles inside my head.
I wait in my spot until I can no longer hear Naruto yelling at Sasuke. I walk the way that boy went, and kept walking until I felt a faint heart beat. Wait, make that two heartbeats.
I followed the heart beats until I looked around, and realized I was in a deep part of the forest. I walk a little more, and find a weird shaped house hoisted up into the trees.
'Ah, so the boy went here.' I say in my head.
I walk up to the house and climb a tree to get on the walk way to the door. I jump silently on the wooden boards as I pad up to the front door. I open it, and see that boy again, holding a kunai to my neck.
"What a lovely greeting service ya'll hold here." I say sarcastically, activating my kekkai genkai, making his arms drop limp against his torso. I chuckle at his bewildered expression, "You aren't very good at listening are you? I explained all about my kekkai genkai while fighting Zabuza, Hidden Mist tracker." I say to the boy sarcastically.
He slightly narrows his eyes at me, before stepping back. "Well as long as you don't hurt my master, I do not care what you do." He says.
"So Zabuza, how is it going? Took a few bad hits in that last fight." I say while calmly sauntering to the kitchen.
He growls at me as I make myself at home, casually making a sandwich.
"Last time I checked you were a demon, not a dog." I say to him teasingly, as I pick up my now completed sandwich.
I walk over to the side of Zabuza's bed, sitting on the floor so I can see his face as I eat.
"You know, if you weren't such a douche, you'd be really hot." I tell him, munching on my delicious sandwich.
"You're like, 12." Zabuza says dumbly, a very very faint blush appearing on his cheeks.
"What?! No way! I never knew! Gold star for figuring that out, Zabuza! Honestly, where is your award?!" I sass him.
A kunai flings towards me, but instead of hitting me, it hits my delicious sandwich. The kunai pins my sandwich into the wall, and I look at the wall, shocked. I turn my head slowly, feeling my anger bubbling inside of me. I see that kid looking at me menacingly, as if he could do damage to me.
"Do not sass my Master." He says to me.
I narrow my eyes into a harsh glare, slowly rising from my place on the floor. "Do you know... how good that sandwich was? I haven't had a sandwich in about three years, and the time I do, some snot nosed brat ruins it?" I ask rhetorically. "Say you're sorry." I demand to the kid.
He firmly shakes his head no.
I activate my kekkai genkai on him, making him fall limp against the floor. I pick up a fistful of his clothing and bring his head centimeters in front of mine. "SAY YOU ARE SORRY!" I yell extremely loud at him. I see a pinch of fear in his eyes, nothing is more scary than not being able to control your body in front of a powerful enemy.
"SAY IT!" I yell louder at him.
"I'm sorry.." He says quietly.
"SORRY FOR WHAT?!" I shout at him.
"Sorry for ruining your sandwich experience..." He tells me, fear evident in his eyes now.
I switch my mood extremely quickly, putting a smile on my face. "You are forgiven!" I tell him cheerily.
Zabuza sweat drops at me as I pat the kids head. "Woah you have soft hair." I tell him. "What shampoo do you use?"
I release my Teishi-tai, allowing the boy to move again. I drop him softly on the ground.
"Hey, what's your name kid?" I ask him.
"My name is Haku." He tells me.
"Well, see you later Haku. Zabuza, don't over exert yourself, heal well, all that jazz. Peace you guys!" I tell them, throwing a wave over my back. I run out of the door and back to Tazuna's house.
I end up walking back, partly because I'm lazy and mostly because the sky is beautiful tonight.
I keep my head up, staring at the beautiful stars that alight the night sky. I hear one more unfamiliar heartbeat. I ignore them, still looking at the stars. I quickly jump up, dodging a kunai that was thrown at my legs.
"Hm, I am kind of busy right now. Please leave, if you could." I tell my attacker politely.
"Hn." They say.
"Wait! Only Sasuke would say that! Who are you, anyways?" I ask my mystery attacker. I turn around, sensing his heartbeat right behind me, my back now pressed against his stomach.
"Woah there bud, a little too close to comfort." I say, walking forward about five steps before turning around to see the Sasuke impersonator.
Woah, he looks a lot like Sasuke. He has long midnight blue hair, and eyes with lines under them. He is wearing an Akatsuki cloak, and has a leaf headband with a slash through it.
Hmm, after a careful analysis, I decide that he is indeed Itachi Uchiha.
"Huh, never thought I'd run into two legendary people in a month." I mutter to myself.
He doesn't say anything. What a surprise!
"Well, since your here, and I was gonna sit here and watch the stars anyways, wanna watch them together?" I ask him.
"Why would you ask such a calm question to an S-rank criminal?" He asks me, cautious.
"You are harmless. Brave, selfless, but not cold hearted." I say to him, smiling a wide grin at him.
I walk ahead of him, trotting over to the small pond. I take my shoes off and dip my feet in.
"Hey! The water is pretty nice, it would be a good time to relax!" I tell him.
He silently walks over to me and takes his shoes off also, dipping his feet in the water. He sits closer to me than I expected, but I shrugged it off. The guy had a hard life, I'm not gonna ruin the one moment he has to relax.
I lay down on my back, folding my hands behind my head. I watch the stars glow in the sky, wishing I could be on.
"Wouldn't it be nice to be a star?" I ask him.
I sit in the silence, still looking with interest at the stars above me.
"Why are you so carefree around me? You obviously know who I am. Why would you sit in a comfortable silence with me watching the stars? I could kill you in an instant." He asks, curious.
I sigh softly, "Because I respect you. I know you don't hurt without a reason, you never do." I tell him.
"I murdered my whole clan." He tells me bluntly.
I start to laugh really loud at him, making him grow even more confused.
I wipe a tear that formed in the corner of my eye from laughing. "Itachi, you don't think I know the real reason you killed your clan?" I tell him, still chuckling. "You are, and will always be, a Leaf Village shinobi." I tell him, smiling warmly at him. "Don't worry, I won't tell Sasuke. I know what you want to happen, and although I could think of a thousand different versions, I can't sway you."
He looks at me, with a ghost of a smile on his face, before turning back to look at the stars.
I focus my attention on one dull star in the sky, not shining as bright as it's neighbors. I squint, seeing it grow duller and duller. I smile softly at it. I don't know why, but I like that star. It doesn't try to outshine its brothers, it just helps them light up the night sky.
I take my feel out of the water, and start to strip down to my underwear and bra.
"Well, I'm gonna go swimming! Feel free to join me." I tell Itachi, who has a blush on his face.
I dive in, head first, and feel my body encased in the water. I love swimming in pond and lakes. All the fresh water surrounding your body, giving you goosebumps-
My thoughts were interrupted at I felt his heartbeat get closer to me. I look back at him only to see him getting into the water. Shirtless.
My mouth drops open at how hot he was. "Damn boy! You are one fine piece of man!" I tell him, chuckling as his stoic expression turns to one of embarrassment. He swims towards me really fast, and I see that as a challenge.
"I'm gonna get you." Itachi says playfully, as he chases after me.
I try to pump my arms harder, but to no avail. Itachi grabs my leg, pulling me back to him. I crash into his chest, and he holds me in his arms. He swims towards the shore of the pond, me still being held captive in his arms.
"Hey! Let me down!" I yell playfully at him.
He shows me a small smile, before dropping me on the sand. He sits on me, looking me down in the eyes.
"Gosh, get off of me, you fat ass." I tell him, glaring at his eyes. His onyx orbs shine with amusement.
"No thanks, I'm good right here." He tells me, slightly smirking.
I narrow my eyes at the Uchiha. "Itachi..." I tell him warningly.
He raises an eyebrow, challenging me. I quickly reverse the position, with me sitting on top of his stomach. I smirk in victory, before looking down at him and sticking my tongue at him. He smirks, like he has won. I look at him, confused. He shifts the position back, but this time holding my arms above my head. This time, I am the one to get a blush on my face. His face is about 3 centimeters above mine, eyes looking at me mischievously.
I start to squirm, only making Itachi's smirk grow a little wider. "Stop squirming." He tells me, smirk growing even wider.
"Make me." I tell him, searching for a challenge.
"If you say so." He tells me, something different fills his eyes. He leans down and firmly plants his lips on mine.
What the heck?
He kisses me, and my automatic response is to kiss back. I feel the feeling in my chest... warm? No, not just warm. Hot. A burning fire. This feeling, I've only ever felt that when Hikaru lied to me about him liking me. He removes his other hand that were pinning my arms down and move them to caress my cheek. We kiss for a little while more, before he breaks it off and smiles softly down at me.
I turn my head to the side a little and mutter, "Wow, hot and a good kisser."
He obviously hears me because of our close proximity and chuckles.
He gets off of my stomach and lays next to me. He slowly puts his arm near mine, reaching for my hand. He holds it in his, that hot feeling spreading through my body like a wild fire. I feel him turn his head towards mine, me still looking up at the stars with wonder filled eyes. I look over to him, my red eyes connecting to his dark blue ones. We both smile at the same time, and he chuckles quietly while I laugh like there is no tomorrow.
I look back towards the stars, a wide grin splattered across my face.
"You know, this is the most fun I've had in a while." Itachi admits to me.
I turn my head, the soft grass tickling my cheek. "I'm glad I could make your life a pinch better." I tell him honestly.
He smiles, a real, genuine smile, not taking his eyes off of the bright stars above us.
"Hey, I probably have to leave soon, and I'm sure your teammate is wondering where you ran off too. So, can I sing a song for you? I kind of wrote one for you..." I mutter sheepishly. "I mean, if you don't want to thats ok-" I start to ramble before a deep chuckle come out of his throat.
"I'd love to hear your song." He tells me honestly.
I smile softly up at the stars, before taking a deep breath and beginning my song.
(A/N Ok! AMAZING SONG GUYS SERIOUSLY I LOVE IT! It's called Battle Scars by Paradise fears and all of ya'll need to go listen to it because you will die of the amzingness)
This is an anthem for the homesick, for the beaten,
the lost, the broke, the defeated.
A song for the heartsick, for the standbys,
Living life in the shadow of a goodbye.
Do you remember when we learned how to fly?
We'd play make-believe; we were young and had time on our side.
You're stuck on the ground,
Got lost, can't be found.
Just remember that you're still alive.
I'll carry you home.
No, you're not alone.
Keep marching on,
This is worth fighting for,
You know we've all got battle scars.
You've had enough,
But you don't give up.
Stick to your guns,
You are worth fighting for.
You know we've all got battle scars.
Keep marching on.
This is a call to the soldiers, the fighters,
the young, the innocent, the righteous..
We've got a little room to grow.
Better days are near,
Hope is so much stronger than fear.
So if you jump, kid, don't be scared to fall.
We'll be kings and queens in this dream, all for one, one for all.
You can light up the dark,
There's a fire in your heart,
Burning brighter than ever before.
I'll carry you home.
No, you're not alone.
Keep marching on,
This is worth fighting for,
You know we've all got battle scars.
You've had enough,
But you don't give up.
Stick to your guns,
You are worth fighting for.
You know we've all got battle scars.
Keep marching on.
On and on, like we're living on a broken record.
Hope is strong, but misery's a little quicker.
Sit, and we wait, and we drown there,
Thinking, "Why bother play when it's unfair?"
They say life's a waste, I say they lack belief.
They tell me luck will travel, I tell 'em that's why I've got feet.
Left, right, left, right.
Moving along to the pulse of a heartbeat.
This could be the last chance you have to fly.
Do you like the ground? Want it to pass you by?
Man, you had it all when you were just a kid.
Do you even remember who you were back then?
What do you want in life? Will you be twice as strong?
What would you sacrifice? What are you waiting on? Don't stop, march on.
I'll carry you home.
No, you're not alone.
Keep marching on,
This is worth fighting for,
You know we've all got battle scars.
You've had enough,
But you don't give up.
Stick to your guns,
You are worth fighting for.
You know we've all got battle scars.
Keep marching on.
Keep marching on.
I finish my song, and look over to see Itachi staring at me intently. I cock my head to the side, silently asking what he was so focused on.
He doesn't answer, just keeps looking at me.
"Well," I say, "I have to go now." I state sadly. "But, I'll meet you again one day!" I say to him, brightening my mood. "Yeah! And the next time we meet, I'll have a special song prepared for you!" I tell him excitedly.
I stand up, and he sits up. I smile softly at him, "Thank you, Itachi. I really had an amazing time with you tonight. I don't think I've ever had that much fun before." I tell him, putting all of my clothes back on.
I start to walk away, but remember that I had to do something. I walk right back to Itachi and plant a firm kiss on his lips, and he kisses back almost immediately. I pull back, "Till we meet again, Itachi." I say to him huskily.
I walk back to Tazuna's house, squealing on the inside.
Today was a good day.
I take it back.
Today was a great day.
