The Adventures Up Ahead Ch. 12
07:17, 18 December 2017Just messed with a magic 8 ball. Asked if Amourshipping would be real. It said, "No doubt about it." Me fist bumps the air. Anyways, onto the chapter!
Ash's POV
While me, mom, Pikachu, and Mr Mime were eating breakfast, we suddenly got a call on the telephone. My mom rushed out of her seat to get it.
"Hello?" I heard my mom ask.
"Delia! Nice to see you." Said a familiar voice.
"Oh! Professor Oak! Hello! Why did you call us?" Mom asked.
"Right. I was wondering if you all could do me a favor." The Professor said.
"Sure. What do you need?"
"Could you and Ash deliver an egg to my cousin in the Alola region?" He asked.
The Alola region? I rushed over to the phone and plopped myself in front of the screen
"The Alola region?" I asked excitedly. "I wanted to go there as soon as I heard about it!"
Professor Oak chuckled. "Well Ash, what do you think? Could you and your mom take the egg?" He asked.
I looked up at my mom expectantly. "Mom?" I asked.
She smiled. "I don't see why not." She answered.
I jumped as high as I could out of sheer joy. "Thanks mom!" I hugged her gratefully. She patted my head.
"Great!" Professor Oak said. "Now just come by my lab and I will give you the egg. You don't have to leave today but please leave soon for the Alola region." He told us.
"Yes!"
"Thanks again!" And with that the call ended.
I started jumping all over the place. "Yes! Mom, we're going to the Alola region." I said excitedly.
"I know Ash." Mom laughed. "Now go pack. We're leaving tomorrow."
I stood straight and saluted her. I was about to run upstairs when I saw Pikachu drinking a bottle of ketchup.
" come on Pikachu!" I called to the little yellow mouse pokemon. "We need to go pack!"
Pikachu looked at me, still drinking his ketchup. When he took the bottle out of his mouth, he had a red ketchup mustache.
"Pika pi! Pika pikachuuu!" He called out.
"Come on!" I ran over to Pikachu and picked him up. He got mad and started flailing around in my arms, but I wouldn't let go. Suddenly, elections sparked around Pikachu and he shocked me.
I really should stop doing that.
Le Time Skip to the Next Day~
"Raichu Airlines 20-40 flight to Alola is now boarding. Passenger's please start boarding the plane. Thank you."
"That's our plane Ash! Let's go!" My mom said.
"Alright!" I followed her as I pulled our luggage.
Pikachu was on my head looking around at the scenery and Mr Mime was next to Mom. When we finally got into our plane after dropping off our bags and luggage, I plopped onto the chair near the window. There were three chairs per row. Pikachu sat on my lap, my mom sat in the middle, and Mr Mime at the far side. Pokemon and people filled the plane. I looked out the window and saw the runway, more planes, and lots of workers.
As I kept looking out the window, my mom said to me, "Hey Ash, did you call your friends before we left?"
I turned around and gave her a puzzled look. "What do you mean? I was thinking of calling them once we get to the Alola region." I answered."
"Well," Mom started. "While you were packing, I did a little research on Alola, and it turns out that they don't have much phones over there. They have TVs and all, but not many phones, so u won't be able to call them a lot."
"Huh?" I said. "B-but! I-I!" I groaned and slumped into my chair.
I wouldn't be able to call my friends and let them know that I was in Alola. At least they have phones though. Whenever I see one, I'll call them immediately. But they have TVs right? I could still watch Serena's contests...
I sighed. Over the speakers, a voice came on. "Attention all passengers," the pilot said. "We are about to launch. Please buckle your seatbelts. Thank you and enjoy the ride."
The plane started rumbling a little bit and it moved forward. When it launched into the sky, I felt like I was being thrown back into my seat. Pikachu squeaked in alarm. I turned my head to the window and looked outside. The runway and everything on it was getting smaller and smaller, until you couldn't see a thing.
As we kept flying over the lands and seas, I sighed.
Alola here we come.
Serena's POV
"So then, all of a sudden, Ash's stomach grumbling broke the silence and we all started laughing." Dawn said.
"Haha!" May laughed. "Yeah, he does do that a lot!"
It was an afternoon, two days after the Slateport City Pokemon Contest. We were sitting down eating lunch and just talking. Dawn kept talking about her time traveling with Ash and May kept laughing and agreeing whenever Ash did something dumb. Drew kept eating, but from time to time would glance over at May.
"Hey Serena," Dawn suddenly said. "Have you ever fought with Ash before?" She asked.
"Yeah. Actually, me and Ash fought many times before." May said.
"I know right? Me and him too. It's so easy to get into an argument with him." Dawn said.
"U-uh... W-we have... But it was only once. Not exactly a fond memory." I studdered.
"What did you fight about?" Drew surprisingly asked. He had been quiet this whole time.
I sighed. "Fine." I took a deep breath to prepare for a (somewhat) long story. Dawn, May and Drew straightened, very interested.
"Alright. Before Ash got his 8th gym badge in the Kalos region, he had become a little... umm, discouraged. He had a pokemon battle with his friend and lost. He suddenly went out of it because his pokemon got really hurt and he blamed it on himself. That night, he decided to go out to clear his mind and asked everyone not to follow him. The next morning he wasn't back so I got worried. Then I went out to look for him." I stopped.
"And?" May asked. All their eyes were on me expectantly.
"The gym he was going to challenge was in Snowbelle City, so there was snow everywhere. When I found him, he was sitting on a log deep in thought. When I called out to him, he looked at me but then pulled down his hat and apologized for not coming back. I told him that if something was bothering him that he could tell me, like how he helped me. I told him that I knew how he felt and then suddenly... he got mad at me and told me that I didn't know how he felt. Then I got mad too and told him to tell me. He told me to leave him alone and I... I just broke... I threw a snowball at his back when he wasn't looking, and I said some... pretty mean stuff at him. I threw two more snowballs at him and then ran off crying..." I trailed off.
Flashback~
"Ash!" I called out to him after finding him. He sat on a fallen log and was thinking. I smiled, panting since I ran the whole way here.
He looked at me and grabbed his hat and pulled it over his eyes. "I'm sorry." He said. "I shouldn't have just left you like that." His eyes downcast to the floor in front of him.
"Ash, if something is bothering you, you can talk to me." I told him as I walked closer to him. "I'll listen. Anytime you want."
He didn't answer and kept his gaze on the ground.
"Seriously, anytime, anywhere." I tried to reassure him.
Still no response.
"I know how you feel, I've been there." I tried, determined to help him feel better and have him rely on me.
"Remember when I really goofed at the show-"
"You don't have a clue how I feel!" Ash jumped up, facing me, an enraged look on his face. I was taken aback in shock. I had never seen Ash act like this. Suddenly, my fists began to clench and I too, became mad.
"Then tell me about it!" I demanded.
"It's not your business. Leave me alone." Ash turned around and looked away from me.
I was so mad. When had the boy I admired so much become something like that. Ash never would act like this. He was always strong, determined, and he would never give up until the end. I bent down and clumped three piles of snow together. I hurled one of them at his turned back.
"Huh?" He muttered. He turned around and faced me.
My head was downcast and I held the two remaining snowballs in both hands. "The Ash I know is full of energy. He's a leader, always tries his best, he's always positive, and he never gives up."
I turned my head up to face him, tears forming in my eyes. "He hangs in there till the very end." I drew back, preparing to throw a ball of snow at him. I launched it.
"You're not acting," I said in between each throw. "Like the Ash I know!" Both snowballs were free from my hands. He blocked the first snow clump with his arm, but the second one hit him in the face, causing him to fall over and trip on the other side of the log.
"Stop!" I yelled at him.
"Give me back the real Ash! Because you sure aren't him!"
And with that, I ran back in the direction of the Pokémon Center, tears streaming down my face. I didn't care that he fell because of me, or the fact that I just left him out there. All I could think about was the fact that that wasn't the Ash I knew. The Ash I loved. But somewhere in the back of my head, I knew. I had just made a big mistake.
Flashback End~
"Umm... Serena?" I heard a voice call to me.
"Huh?" I muttered. I felt myself being shamed and I looked up.
"Are you alright?" Dawn asked, still shaking me.
"H-huh? What do you mean?" I asked.
"You're crying." May answered.
I turned in her direction and saw both her and Drew staring at me worriedly. I touched my face with my bare hands and I was, indeed, crying.
I sniffled. "I-I'm okay. Just... yeah, not really good memories." I said, brushing the tears off my face.
Dawn kept rubbing my back and we all sat in silence for a little while as they let me collect myself.
I sighed, felling better now. "Alright," I said. "We should really get going now. We have to pack before we go." They all stared at me, worried looks still etched in their faces. I gave them all a reassuring nod and they all got up.
"Well you girl can go and pack. I'm just gonna check if they gave out the next location for a contest yet. Besides, it might take a little while because May here always has too much stuff. I mean, seriously, who needs all of those clothes?" Drew said teasingly, staring at May who glared back at him and clenched her jaw.
"I do!" She shouted, lunging for him.
Le Time Skip~
As we were walking around Slateport City, we often stopped at clothing stores for May, who usually came out with nothing or something. We would also stop at some snack stands like a Magikarp shaped taiyaki. We kept walking around until we came to a stop by the sea.
"Woah!!" I said in pure awe. In Kalos, there were few places where you could see the ocean and my house was pretty much inland. I had seen the ocean once with Ash, Clemont and Bonnie, but the view that I saw from here was absolutely beautiful.
The blue sky made the water look a beautiful blue and the sun shined brightly overhead, making the water glisten. Light breezes created waves in the water and they often lapped at the shore. The beach's tanned white sand littered the floor and lots of pokemon were around. Krabby, Kingler, Corsola, Shellder, Slowpoke, Slowbro, Psyduck, and other pokemon that I had never seen before.
"Do you guys wanna go down?" Drew chuckled.
I noticed that May and Dawn were doing the same thing as me. We all nodded and walked down the stairs to the sandy beach.
While we played around on the beach, we all noticed an old man fishing. As we got closer, we realized that the old man was actually struggling with his line and was being dragged into the water. We all rushed over to him and managed to save him before fell in. His rod was still in piece and he was very grateful.
"Thank you so much!" He said. "I guess it's because I'm older and I don't have as much strength as I used to." He chuckled.
"Are you okay sir?" I asked.
"Yes, yes. I'm fine. Come here." The old man walked to his bag and took out four small poles. He pressed a button on each of them and they all grew into full sized fishing rods. "You bunch can have these." He said to us, handing each of us a rod. Surprisingly, he gave us a colored of which coordinated with us. Drew received a green rod, May got red, Dawn blue, and I got pink.
"Thank you." We all said bowing.
The old man waved it off. "No, no. It is the least that I could do. You bunch saved me. I honestly don't know how to swim!" He laughed.
We all bowed again and walked off.
"That was a nice man." Dawn said happily while fiddling with the rod in her hands.
"Why don't we go and try these rods out?" Drew suggested. We all nodded and raced for the water after taking our shoes off and putting them and our bags near a rock so that they wouldnt get wet.
Le Other Time Skip~
"That was fun!" Dawn exclaimed happily.
"Speak for yourself!" I pouted. "I didn't get a catch at all!" Everyone laughed at me as I crossed my arms together.
The sun started going down as we got all of our stuff. Dawn turned around and looked at the water.
"Wow! Amazing!" She gasped.
We all turned around and saw that the water was reflecting the setting orange rays of the sun. The sea looked even more beautiful than it had in full daylight.
"It's absolutely beautiful..." May said, her full attention on the water.
"Not as beautiful as you..." Drew muttered. Suddenly realizing what he said, he clasped his hands over his mouth and glanced at May to see if she heard. May was the farthest away from Drew, so luckily for him, she didn't hear him.
Unluckily for him though, me and Dawn both heard, so we turned towards him and smirked. He looked at us, knowing that we had heard him, and blushed. He gave us a don't-say-anything look and we both giggled.
Suddenly, I heard a cry. It sounded like a pokemon That was hurt. I raced off in the direction of the cry, everyone else calling out to me to wait. When I found the pokemon, I found out that it was a Milotic. It was laying on the sand and was in pain. I ran towards it and checked it over. It was in to much pain to back away from her and stood still. As I looked it over it I found that it must have crashed its tail against a rock really hard. Drew, May, and Dawn suddenly came up behind me.
"Serena! What happened- GASP!! Is that a Milotic? What happened?!" Dawn asked in shock.
"I heard its cry and ran over here! Drew, do you have a potion on you? Bandages?" I asked.
"Uhh, yeah. Hold on," Drew dug into his bag and pulled out a purple spray bottle and white cloth. "Here." He threw them towards me.
I quickly grabbed them and applied them to Milotic's wound. I wrapped the bandage and looked at Milotic for anything else. Other than the tail, everything looked fine. Milotic looked instantly better and opened its eyes.
Milotic turned and looked at me. The next thing I knew, the pokemon pushed its head against me for a hug. I instantly hugged back.
"You're welcome." I said to Milotic.
Milotic pulled back and nudged my backpack.
"Huh?" I said.
She nudged at it again.
"You... You want to come with me?" I asked.
Milotic nodded and a bright smile grew on my face. "I'd be glad to have you with me!" I said happily.
I took a pokeball from my backpack and booped it against Milotic's nose. Milotic made a happy sound before being sucked into the ball (that doesn't sound weird at all...). The pokeball shook once, twice, then three times before making a "Ding!" noise, signaling that the pokemon was caught.
I picked up the pokeball in my hand. My first Hoenn pokemon! I can't wait to perform with her!
"Great job Serena!" Dawn tackled her into a hug.
"Good job!" May said.
"Congrats. But before we start celebrating, how about we go back to the Pokemon Center? I think we decided to pack up to early. We can leave tomorrow morning, but until then, your pokemon can meet each other." Drew suggested.
I nodded. That sounded like a good idea. We got up and walked towards the Pokemon Center. As we walked towards the building, we all kept talking and laughing. I'm so glad that I made new friends here in Hoenn. If I hadn't met them, I don't think that I would have been able to get my first ribbon. I'm really glad that I met them. All of them.
I started fidgeting with Milotic's pokeball. I couldn't help but wonder about what would happen from this point on out.
Two chapters in a row! I'm on a roll (Or I have a lot of free time... I have a lot of free time)! So I have decided that the next chapter will be the time skip. Not to big of a time skip though. Like, umm, 1 month later? Yeah, something like that. Anyways, I hope that you all enjoyed! I really love writing this. Speaking of which, I think I want to start a new fanfiction. Don't worry, I'll still work on this one. I'm not starting it yet though. I wanna make a Contestshipping fanfic now! I'm thinking that the schedule will be something like this fanfic first, then the other one, and then this one again, and repeat. Anyways, thanks for reading! Please vote or comment if you have the time. Thank u!!
