The Roads We Stay On Ch. 13

Ash's POV

"Anyone want to answer this question?" Professor Kukui asked, pointing to the board.

A hand shot up behind me. "That's a Ditto!" Lillie answered. "They can change their form into anyone or thing that they see." 

"Great job, Lillie." Professor Kukui praised.

I've been here in Alola for 4 weeks now. I go to this school called the Pokemon School on Melemele Island and learn things about pokemon there. There isn't any Pokemon League here, so I really just have fun with my new friends. My mom went home after we gave the egg to Professor Oak's cousin, who just so happened to be the school's principal, Principal Oak. If you want to know where I'm staying, I'm staying at Professor Kukui's house. I now have three pokemon here too. They are Rockruff and Rowlet. Rockruff is very playful and Rowlet sleeps too much. Pikachu is still here with me, so that makes three of them.

After school, I met up with all my new friends right by the school gate.Lillie, Lana, Kaiwe, Mallow, and Sophocles. 

"How about we go to my family's restaurant?" Mallow asked. "We can go and have lunch over there."

"Alright!" I jumped at the mention of lunch. As of on cue, my stomach growled. Everyone, including our pokemon, laughed.

A Few Minutes Later~

We were waiting for our food that Mallow was preparing for us and chatted.

"Hey, did you guys see Hoenn Pokemon Contest in Verdanturf Town?" Lana randomly asked. "My sisters were watching it earlier so I watched it with them. It was really cool!"

My ears perked up. Huh? A Pokemon Contest? Hoenn? Verdanturf? What?

Since there weren't many phones in Hoenn, I couldn't call Serena or anyone else at all. A few days ago I spent my time searching for the Hoenn Pokemon Contests. I already knew what channel it was on so that was easy, but I didn't know when they had one. Serena's to be precise. When I actually found a contest performance, I found out that Serena wasn't I it, much to my disappointment. I wonder what was happening with her.

I stared at Lana intensely. "Was there a person named Serena performing? Or Dawn? Or May? Or Drew?" Ash questioned. (Just realized that I made Serena's new traveling group a whole performing group... Go figure...)

Lana looked at me surprised. "Umm... well, there was a person named Serena and Dawn. The Serena girl ended up winning. I actually really like her!" Lana answered.

"So she has two ribbions now?" I asked.

"No, they said that that ribbion was her third." She said.

Third?! I missed the other one?! I hung my head low.

"How do you know about her Ash?" Kiawe asked.

"Huh?" I said, picking my head up. "Oh, umm, Serena used to be my traveling partner in the Kalos region." I told him.

"You've been to Kalos before?" Sophocles said in awe. "Tell me Ash!" He jumped out of his seat and grabbed my arm. "I heard that there was something called Mega Evolution in that region. Is it true?" He asked, shaking my arm. I sweat dropped.

"Yeah... There is..." I replied slowly.

"Is it like Z Moves?" He asked.

Okay, okay. Before I answer his question, a Z Move is a move that is suuuppper strong. You wear something called a Z ring that holds a Z crystal which activates the move. There are multiple types of Z crystals that go with each type. For example, there are Firium Z, Waterium Z, Grassium Z, Electrium Z (which I have), etc. The moves only work for whatever pokemon is that type.

"Umm... Ash? Are you okay? What are you staring at?" Lillie asked, waving her hand in my face.

I shook my head. "Nothing." I answered quickly. "And no Sophocles. It isn't like Z Moves. Mega Evolution lets specific Pokémon mega evolve, which is basically the next stage of evolution after their final evolutions. They can also change back after doing it, but like Z Moves, they can only  be used once per battle. Pokemon can only Mega Evolve if they have a strong bond with their trainers, but they also have to have two things. A Mega Stone and a Key Stone. The Key Stone is for the trainer and the Mega Stone is for the pokemon. Also, on order to Mega Evolve, a pokemon has to have a Mega Stone that is specifically for themselves. For example, a Blaziken needs Balzikenite to Mega Evolve, and an Absol needs Absolite to Mega Evolve. It won't work if the Mega Stone isn't for them, if they don't have a Key Stone, and if they don't have a strong bond." 

As I finished, everyone looked at me dumbfounded and shocked. Kiawe was the first to speak.

"That's the first time... I've ever heard Ash say something so smart..."

"Hey!" I yelled.

Just then, Mallow came out with multiple plates of food in her hands. "Food's ready!"

"Yes!! Thanks!! I'm hungry!!" I said as I dug into my plate, everyone laughing.

Serena's POV

"Alright, so if we keep going this way, we should end up in Petalburg- Woah!" Drew yelled as he caught May, who blushed and rubbed the back of her head after apologizing.

The whole time that we have been walking, May has been tripping on random things at least every five minutes and, Drew has been catching her every single time. And every single time, they'd blush, earning a smirk from both me and Dawn. After my win in Verdanturf Town and earning three ribbions (Dawn now had three too and Drew still had four, while May had none because she didn't want to perform this year), we decided to go to Petalburg City, or more like I had suggested it and they all agreed.

"S-so..." May said awkwardly, brushing herself off. "Why did you want to go to Petalburg City?" May asked me. "It's not like they have a contest over there."

"I know. I wanted to go here because I heard that this was your hometown, so, why not?" I answered.

"Your dad is a gym leader too, right?" Dawn added. "So we can meet him and your family."

"I guess so. My dad is the gym leader of the Petalburg City gym, and he uses normal types. My brother, Max really looks up to him, but he says that he wants to be a Pokemon Breeder when he grows up." May said.

"Why?" I asked.

"Do you remember Brock? That guy you saw when when Ash called you?" May asked.

"Him? Yeah, I do." I said.

"Well, me and my brother traveled with Ash and him. Brock was a Pokemon Breeder and I guess he kinda rubbed off on my brother." May shrugged.

"So, everyone in your family will be smart, except you." Drew said plainly, still staring at the map.

"Why you!" May jumped on him and started pounding him into the ground.

"Hey- Ooph! I'm sorry- Ooph! STOP!!" Drew kept screaming at her.

Me and Dawn both laughed.

Le Time Skip~

When we finally got to Petalburg City (thanks to Drew's navigation skills), we first went to the Pokemon Center. While we were walking, we often more than not ran into angry wild pokemon like Beedrill and Ursaring. We sat down waiting for our pokemon. May started talking to Dawn about random stuff like clothes and food, but May suddenly started punching Drew into a pulp again when he said that May would get fat if she kept eating so much.

I sweat dropped looking at the cute to-be couple. My eyes glanced over at the phone and I sighed. Ash hadn't called me in about a month now. I was getting worried but I was also really sad. Maybe he has something better to do...

Dawn seemed to notice my change in attitude and put her hand on my shoulder.

"Hey Serena, are you okay?" Dawn asked me.

I looked at her. "I'm fine." I put off a smile. "I guess I'm just tired." I lied. Dawn looked at me in disbelief.

Suddenly, the Pokemon Center chime went off, signaling that our pokemon were good to go.

Saved by the bell I guess.

We talked with each other for a little bit longer and then went to grab dinner.

Le 'Nother Time Skip~

As I came out of the bathroom after having a refreshing shower, May shouted, "Me next!" She ran into the bathroom and slammed the door shut.

Me, May, and Dawn were all sleeping in the same room, while Drew slept by himself due to the fact that he wasn't a girl. Since there were only two beds, one of us had to share with someone else, which May and Dawn both said that they'd be fine with.

As I walked over to my bed, Dawn looked at me suspiciously. I turned and looked back at her after plopping onto my bed. "What?" I asked.

"Spill." Dawn simply answered.

"What?"

"I saw that look you had earlier. What were you so worried about?" Dawn asked.

"W-what? I-I don't know what you're t-talking about!" I squeaked.

"Stop lying." Dawn said.

Am I that easy to read?! Is Dawn really a psychic type pokemon... More proof for me.

I sighed. "F-fine." I gave in. "I was thinking about why Ash hasn't been calling me lately..."

Dawn gasped. "You guys really are dating!" She yelled happily.

"Dawn!" I shouted, blushing furiously at the thought of me and Ash dating.

"I'm just kidding, I'm just kidding!" She laughed. "But seriously, why would you be worried about that. He could just be somewhere far away that doesn't have phones." 

(Spot on Dawn, spot on.)

I sighed again. "I guess you're right."

There was a little bit of silence for a while but Dawn broke it saying, "You really like him, huh?"

I almost fell off my bed. "W-WHAT DO YOU MEAN?!? IDONTLIKEASHBUTIDOLIKEASHWAITFORGETTHATLASTPART!!!" I shouted a very mumbled sentences, still blushing crimson. I dove into a pillow.

"Hehe! It's written all over your face! Don't worry, don't worry! I won't tell anyone." She promised, wiping her finger across her lips as if zipping a zipper.

"Y-You promise?" I asked, peeking out from behind the  now-warm pillow.

"Yep!" She said enthusiastically.

Suddenly, May shot out of the bathroom and talked me into a hug. "Don't worry! I'll help you!" She shouted.

"W-what? Y-you heard that?" My face lit up again.

"Don't worry! I won't tell a soul!" May said happily.

Dawn jumped out of bed and hugged me as well. "Me too!" 

Feeling more comfortable, I laughed a relived laugh and hugged them both back.

I loved these guys.

Bonus- Drew's POV

I sat on my bed stroking Absol's soft white fur, the rest of my pokemon around the room and on my bed. I was reading my book and the room was very quiet and peaceful until I heard shouting. Me and my pokemon turned in the direction of the voice and looked at the wall separating our room from the girls' room. Suddenly, I heard more shouting, then screaming, then laughing, more shouting, and then laughing again. Gosh, girls are so loud.

What the heck was going on in there?

Another chapter! Yay!! So after tomorrow I'm on Christmas break, but since we're moving and have to pack, so I might not be able to update as fast as I usually can, but I'll still try at least once a week. Also, I'm going to start writing my Contestshipping Fanfic so updating here won't be as often, but when I publish that story, please check it out! I might post some things on there about this fanfic and  vise versa. But since I'll be on Christmas break, that means that I'll be able to write more (maybe)!
