Chapter 21: Don't Be Tardy!

(Maya’s POV)

“Lee, why didn’t you invite Andy?” I asked Liam as we set the table. Liam rolled his eyes and looked at me. “What was that for?” I asked him. “Andy won’t be back for another week,” he bluntly told me. “Sorry, I thought I was this week,” I told him. “Honeys! I’m home!” Niall chimed as he walked into the dining room. “You weren’t kidding when you said 5:45,” Liam joked as him and Niall hugged. “I don’t joke around,” Niall laugh as he walked towards me to hug me. “You never do,” I joked as I hugged him back.

“Need any help?”  He asked me. “Want to put the rolls on the table?” I asked him. “Are they out in the open where I can see them?” Niall inquired. I just laughed. “Yes, come with me Nialler, I’ll show you where they are,” Liam laughed. The two guys went into the kitchen and I went to the bathroom for a final look at myself before everyone else got here. We decided to tell management early before the boys came over so we could finally post about it after we told them. After we got engaged yesterday we video chatted with both of our families and told them.

“Love, the guys are all here come on!” Liam called from the living room. I glanced down at my ring and smiled. I applied a little more lipstick and then went down to see the guys. “Hey everyone!” I chimed as I entered the room. “Well, what’s the news?” Louis asked. “I already told you guys it’s a puppy,” Harry assured them. “Actually, we’re getting married,” I told them. “WHAT!” They call exclaimed at once in complete shock. I stuck out my hand so they could see the ring.

“This is incredible!” Harry squealed like a little school girl. I couldn’t help but laugh. The rest of the night was pretty much perfect, but who am I kidding? Anytime I spend with the guys of One Direction the night is perfect. We are all one big messed up family and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

I watched the guys play a game on the Xbox and I couldn’t help but laugh this had become my life for over a year now, and I love it. Sometimes it has its downfalls but the good things overrule that’s for sure.

Maya: I can’t wait for you to come out!!

Serra: I know a month in LA is what I need!

Maya:  Oh yea and you will be taking the One Direction jet. Did I forget to mention this?

Serra: Uh yes you did!

Maya: Just go to the airport and they will show you where to go!

Serra: You two are amazing!

Maya: We had a little help from Paul as well.

“Babe, who are you texting over there?” Liam asked. “Serra we are discussing her coming up here!” I proclaimed.  The guys just laughed as they turned back to their game.

“I need something to drink, anyone want anything?” I asked the guys. Zayn looked up, “Yeah, I’ll help you,” he offered. I nodded and headed to the kitchen. “Do you have a second?” He asked me. “Yeah, of course, what’s going on?” I asked him. He shuffled his feet and messed with his hair, I could tell something major was bothering him.

“What’s going on, Zaynster?” I asked him as I got sodas out of the fridge. “Perrie called the wedding off,” he sighed. “WHAT!” I cried. “Don’t tell anyone I don’t want to take the spotlight away from you and Liam during your happy time,” he sighed. “Zayn, c’mon what happened?” I asked him.

“I really don’t know,  she just called me and told me she needed space and until she was able to tell me what she wanted then we should take a break and that she wasn’t ready to get married,” Zayn explained to me. I could tell he was about to cry by the sound of his voice.

Later as we ate dinner Zayn kept to himself and I tried to keep the wedding talk little as possible for his sake.

Jane: Were you going to tell me you were getting married…or not?

Bri: Maya…I’m so sorry…

Serra: Can I come sooner! I miss you!

“Love, your phone is going crazy,” Liam commented. “It must be her other boyfriend. I talked to him today and he said that Maya was been neglecting him,” Harry chuckled. I couldn’t help but laugh. Harry always insist that I have some secret boyfriend hidden somewhere and one day everyone will find him.

“You caught me!” I joked. Everyone laughed, but Zayn, that’s when it got awkward. We really didn’t say much the rest of the meal. “Sorry to cut it short, but I’m going to head home,” Zayn informed us shortly after we got done eating. “No problem, lad, we’ll see you soon,” Liam assured him. We all said goodbye and then the rest of us headed back to the living room. “Guys I don’t know if he wanted me to tell you but Perrie called the wedding off and she said they need to take a break,” I explained to the guys.

“Why would she do that?” Harry asked. I shrugged it didn’t seem like something she would do, but maybe something was going on between them no one knew about. “Do you think Zayn is lying?” Niall inquired. “Why would he lie?” I asked him. “Well, maybe something happened and he doesn’t want to tell us the truth so he made up that lie,” he suggested.

“Zayn wouldn’t lie to Maya,” Liam pointed out. “You guys can’t let him know that you know, or he’ll kill me!” I told them.  

Jane: Maya…please…just talk to me.

Bri: MAYA!!!!

That night I laid in bed wondering if I was doing the right thing by avoiding the text messages from Jane and Bri. I couldn’t decide if I wanted them back in my life. They hurt me in ways I didn’t believe they were capable of.  “Lee, are you awake?” I asked him. I took his snoring as a no.  I grabbed my phone and tweeted about the engagement. Paul had suggested it earlier but I never got around to it.

@_MayaMay_  soon I’ll be the Mrs. Maya Payne…has a pretty ring to it…doesn’t it?

Harry: Just so you know I’m really happy for you and Liam. If I can’t have you he should. Love you twinnie.

I laughed to myself as I read Harry’s text besides Liam he was the guy I was closest with out of the One Direction guys since we were so close in age we called each other twins from the beginning and now everyone calls us “The Twins”.

Maya: Aww thanks twin! I guess I love you too.

Harry: I thought you weren’t ready for marriage yet.

Maya: I thought I wasn’t either until I talked to Liam about it.

Harry: Please be careful.

Maya: Why wouldn’t I be careful?

Harry: Don’t rush into something you aren’t ready for and then get hurt in the end.

Maya: When did you become so deep?

Harry: When my best friend and my twin are involved.

Maya: Harry I know what I am doing okay?

Harry: Are you sure Maya?

Maya: YES! You sound just like my mother!

Harry: Well I know for sure I am not your mother. But I know she wouldn’t want to see you hurt either, now before you start planning this wedding make sure this what you want.

Maya: Why are you talking like this?

Harry: Acting like what?

Maya: Like you are trying to talk me out of marrying Liam…it’s like you don’t want me to for something. What is going on?

Harry: Zayn came over and told me everything that happened.

Maya: And how does that have to do with my wedding?

Harry: Can I call you in the morning and tell you?

Maya: No tell me now.

Harry: He doesn’t think you guys have been together long enough to know if it’s the best thing for you two to get married. He is only looking out for you guys, plus he doesn’t like it that his wedding was called off and now Liam is getting married.

I heard Liam get out of bed and walk to the bathroom. “Lee, are you okay?” I asked him. “Yeah, what are you still doing up?” He called from the bathroom. “Couldn’t sleep, that nap I took after everyone left gave me an energy boost.” I explained to him. “Can you go get me some water?” He asked. “Yeah, do you need anything else?” I offered. “No thank you.” He told me. I shuffled down the stairs into the kitchen. As I grabbed a couple water bottles out of the fridge I tried to shake the text message from Harry out of my mind, but it wasn’t leaving.

I know that Zayn is going through a hard time but he couldn’t take it out on us, or have us feel like we should postpone our wedding because of what happened. As I got back to the bedroom the lights were turned on and Liam was trying to find a new shirt to wear. “What happened?” I asked him. “Got sick, need to change,” He sighed. He looked as pale as a ghost. “Do you need to go to the hospital?” I asked him. “No, I’m fine,” He said with a yawn. “Just lay down and drink the water. I’ll find you a shirt,” I offered. He nodded as he took the water from me and lay against the headboard on his side of the bed.

When I finally found him another sleep shirt he was fast asleep in the middle of the bed.

@_MayaMay_ Liam caught some nasty bug and has taken over the bed. He is lucky I love him. I just want my bed back!

Once I got him over to his side I laid back down.  When Liam realized what had happened he pulled me close to him. “If you get me sick you’re dead,” I warned him. He hummed as he drifted back to sleep.  

The next morning I woke up before Liam which was a rare event. I got out of bed and headed downstairs to get some breakfast. I tried not to make too much noise I didn’t want to wake up Liam.

Maya: Good morning management! Just a heads up Liam is sick again, he is sleeping now but has had a rough night. I’ll let you know how he is feeling when he wakes up.

I ate my bowl of cereal as I scrolled through Twitter and Instagram. I sent a few snapchats to Serra since I miss her so much.  I walked back upstairs to get ready for the day, even though Liam was sick I had plans with Eleanor while she was in town.

Eleanor: We still on for today?

Maya: Well, of course!

Eleanor: Just checking!

I took a shower and then got dressed. I reached for my hot pink skater shirt, a plain white v neck, and my denim vest. I got dressed and then added my neon yellow bow belt. “Where are you going?” Liam asked as he woke up. “Out with Eleanor,” I told him. “Who is going to help me?” He whined.

Maya: Who wants to take care of Liam?

Louis: Since you are with Elle, I’ll take him.

Maya: Thanks Louis! You’re the best!

 I curled my hair and teased my crown. After my hair was done I placed my white daisy flower crown around my head and did my makeup and brushed my teeth. “Louis is coming to help you out,” I told Liam as I put on my white high tops. “Well, you look stunning wish I was going out with you not El,” he whined.
