Chapter 18

"SILENCE!" (Wow, dumb old door? That you?) The ninjas in the room turn towards the puff of smoke. A guy with 2 scars on his face and several other ninjas appeared.

"Sorry to keep you waiting. I'm Ibiki Morino, proctor for the first test of the Chunin exam." He said. He was scary, but not as scary for Akiko.

"Hmph. This is a good opportunity, so I'll only say this once. There will be no battles, competitions without the permission of the proctors. And even if you get permission, actions that could lead to death of an opponent will not be permitted." His expression darkened. "Any pig that screws with me will be disqualified immediately. Got it?" The room tense. This guy really is scary. Akiko got bored as she began to braid her long hair.

"Heh, this exam looks easy!" Some guy said.

"Now then, we will start the first test of the Chunin exam. Turn in your applications and take one of these number cards in exchange and sit in you designated seat. After that, we will hand out the paper for the written exam." Ibiki said. Uh oh, Naruto wasn't really the type to do written exams.

Akiko was luckily seated behind Naruto as she examined the people around her. Naruto began to stress out. Ibiki tapped a chalk on the board.

"There are several important rules to this first test. I will take no questions, so listen. First off is the first rule. You are given 10 points each from the start! The written exam has ten problems in all! Each question is 1 point. And, this test is a point deduction system. You are deducted one point for each problem you get wrong! If you get three wrong, you'll have seven points. For the second rule, pass or failure will be determined by the total points of the team. For a teams of 4, same thing." Ibiki said. 

Shet- we goin down- 

"W-wait a minute! What do you mean total points of the teams?!" Sakura asked. 

"There's a perfectly good reason for this. Shut up and listen. If you've got it, here is the most important rule. Those who are deemed by sentinels as have committed an act of cheating or something similar to that will have 2 points deducted for each act. In other words...there may be those who will be dismissed during this test without waiting for test grading. If you aspire to be a Chunin at all, know that Shinobi should act like exemplary shinobi.(Basically like a role model, dang, I remember this when I was in elementary-)." Ibiki said.

Ok Akiko, just go with the flow...it's just a test. Akiko thought. (What I usually think is Eh, whatever. xD)

"And, in this case. Even one person on the team getting 0 points, Everyone on that team will fail."

Haha, oh shet- we really not gonna pass- 

"You may now start." The test was really easy for Akiko, Sakura, and Sasuke. But the whole burden goes on Naruto, he is the one that needs to carry their team and pass.

Please!! Please let Naruto to get at least one point! Sakura prayed.

I see what they're trying to aim towards now..... Akiko thought and sighed. She finished in less then 10 minutes, reading all the words on the test.

If being a shinobi is like this, I'm probably going to lose all my braincells. She thought and flipped her test paper around so whoever tried to copy wouldn't see. She looked around and looked at her teammates. This exam was a test for all the future shinobis. 

Time passed by as Naruto still struggled with his exam. Many were caught in the process.

"Listen up everyone! This is the tenth question!" Ibiki announced.

"But before that. I'm going to add some rules for the last question. First, you guys will choose whether or not you want to take the 10th question! If you don't want to , then your score will be 0. In other words, you fail. And of course, the same goes for your teammates." Ibiki said. He was a real mental torturer

"W-what?! Then we have no choice but to take it anyways!" 

"Y-yea!"

"And one more rule. If you chose to take it and is unable to answer it correctly, then you will have to..... relinquish your right of taking the Chunin Exam Forever." He said. The room turned silent. It was a choice between death, or death.

"That's absolutely stupid!" kiba yelled. Ibiki chuckled.

"You all were given a choice. But this year you were just unlucky to get me who made the rules. But I gave you a choice to go back. For those of you who aren't confident, you can choose not to take it and take the exam next year or the year after that." Ibiki chuckled once again. What a cruel game he's playing at.

"Then let's begin. Those who don't want to take it, leave. Once I confirm your number, I'll ask you to leave." He sad.

Oh, its those types of mind games. Naruto, you better not raise your hand. Akiko thought. 

The person next to Naruto slowly raised his hands.

"I'm quitting! I'm not going to take it!" He said.

"#50 fails. #130, #111 will be failed as well." Said one of the proctors. Slowly, more and more people raised their hands and began to leave. Naruto slowly raised his hands. Akiko was surprised but he slammed his hands down immediatley.

"DON'T ENDERESTIMATE ME, I WILL BECOME THE HOKAGE EVEN IF I STAY AS A GENIN FOREVER! I'M NOT SCARED!" Naruto yelled as Akiko smiled. There was that cinnamon roll as himself again.

That's right, that's the Naruto we know. Akiko thought and smiled softly which was caught by Sasuke.

Should I try and become a baka too....? He thought. (-//////-)

"I'll ask again. It's a choice that will alter your life. If you want to quit, now is your chance!" Ibiki said.

"I'm not going back on my words. That's my ninja way!" Naruto said, giving the people around him confidence. Ibiki looked around as the proctors nodded, he nodded also and turned towards the soon-to-be Chunins.

"I like your determination! Then, for those who are still here.....you passed!" He said smiling as Naruto and the others were dumbfounded.

"H-huh?"

"H-hey, what does that mean? All of a sudden, you just told us we passed. What about the 10th question?" Sakura asked. Ibiki laughed.

"There wasn't such a thing to begin with!" He said.

"Well, you can look at the choice you just had to make as the 10th question!" 

"Wait. Then what were all those 9 questions for?" Temari asked.

"The objective of the 9 questions were already accomplished. To test your individual ability to gather information!" Wow Ibiki, so evil.

"As your proctor, I added 2 stages. For stage 1, the written exam. You were to gather information from those who had the answers, adding additional pressure from me and my other proctors. Stage 2 was the 10th question, you were to choose whether to give up or not. The reason behind this test was to last as long as you can. That being of said, I had two Chunin in the group who knew all of the answers from whom you could cheat." The 2 raised their hands. 

"Hehe, well I already knew that! Right, Hinata?" Naruto said. He probably never even realized it.

"Just remember this. To be given the wrong information can bring catastrophic blows to your friends and village. So that is why, we forced you guys to cheat. And we filtered out those who were clearly lacking in those abilities. You all have successfully passed. The first exam for the Chunin exam has been completed. I wish you all good luck," Ibiki said. 

Then a huge ball broke the windows and a lady popped out. She had a fish net shirt and a opened jacket. She also had a pony tail.
