THIRTY-NINE

The music was loud as Amanda and Olivia swayed together on the dance floor at their reception. A little over a year since Olivia gave birth to Clayton and Daphne, Olivia and Amanda finally planned a reception to celebrate their relationship and all the amazing things that had happened over the few years they had been together.

"Charlotte, Daphne, and Clay are sleeping on that bench in the corner," Amanda breathed into her wife's ear.

"Today was really exciting, Mandy. They got to get dressed up and ate lots of cake. I believe they also danced themselves into exhaustion," Olivia chuckled, as she turned so she could look at their son and daughters.

"We did the same thing, but we aren't sleeping on a bench," Amanda laughed.

"It would be frowned upon since this is our party..." Olivia trailed off, as the song changed and she felt her wife pull her closer. 

"We could sneak upstairs to our room and get busy if you wanted," Amanda spoke into her wife's ear before kissing her right below her earlobe.

"Why are you always so horny?" Olivia laughed as Amanda escorted her towards the edge of the dance floor.

"I'm sorry, but I have a sexy wife that I cannot get enough of. So, wanna go upstairs?" Amanda asked, but her wife didn't respond because Charlotte had woken up and was stumbling towards them.

"Hi, Mama," Charlotte yawned as she reached her arms up to Amanda. 

"Hey, sweetie. How was your nap?" Amanda asked as Olivia tightened the rubber bands around Charlotte's pigtails.

"I think Clay kicked me," Charlotte replied with a deep frown.

"It's just like when he was in my belly and would kick your hand," Olivia smiled as Charlotte looked at her.

"Really?" the toddler asked, and Olivia nodded.

"Really. Are you ready to go home? Get in your pajamas and go to bed?" Olivia questioned, as she took the girl into her arms and snuggled her close.

"Are you and Mama coming?" Charlotte asked, and Amanda shook her head.

"You are spending the weekend with Grandma. Mommy and I will be home on Sunday afternoon before you go to bed."

"I wanna stay with you," Charlotte sniffled as she buried her face in Olivia's hair. Olivia rocked her slowly back and forth before kissing her cheek softly.

"You won't even miss us this weekend because you are going to have so much fun with Grandma and the twins. You can watch movies, play games, and eat lots of ice cream! Doesn't that sound like fun?" Olivia exclaimed as she tried to make her little girl happy.

"What are you gonna do?" Charlotte asked as she was carried towards where the twins continued to sleep. Olivia and Amanda exchanged glances before Olivia gave their daughter a fake answer.

"We are going to catch up on some work and probably sleep a lot. Today was a big day for our entire family."

After securing the twins and Charlotte in their car seats and watching as Serena drove them home, Olivia and Amanda went inside to say goodbye to their guests and start gathering their wedding gifts. They headed upstairs to their hotel room and locked up the moment they entered. 

"Did you have fun today?" Amanda asked as she started to get out of her dress while Olivia sat down on the bed and kicked off her heels.

"It was a lot of fun. I didn't realize how many people would come, but I wonder if the open bar was encouraging," Olivia laughed softly.

"I think they all cared about us, Liv. So many of our guests worked with the squad or leaned on us in their time of need."

"I guess they do care about us, otherwise they wouldn't have shown up," Olivia admitted as she stood and tossed her heels in the corner. Olivia walked to where her wife stood before helping her unzip the back of her dress. She pushed the white satin fabric off her shoulders before kissing her exposed skin.

Amanda closed her eyes tightly as Olivia kissed and sucked on the skin of her shoulders and then worked her way to her neck. 

"I love you so much," Olivia breathed into Amanda's skin, as she wrapped her arms around Amanda's waist and tugged her tightly against her body.

"I'm so glad we stayed together," Amanda whispered.

"Me too. Life is so good with you," Olivia replied, as she stepped back and finished taking Amanda's dress off. Once it was on the floor, Amanda stepped out of her dress and turned to face her wife. 

As she looked at Olivia, she couldn't believe she wasted so much time dating immature men when Olivia was there all along. Olivia always had her back and took care of her when she could no longer take care of herself. 

"Do I have something on my dress or face?" Olivia asked, since Amanda was staring at her for longer than usual.

"N-no... I'm just thinking about how lucky I am," Amanda replied, as tears welled in her eyes.

"Mandy, are you going to cry?" Olivia asked, as she quickly stepped forward and pulled her wife close.

"I'm so happy, Liv! I have a beautiful wife and three adorable babies. Things are so good, but I'm worried something may fuck it up. I don't want anything to change," Amanda sniffled, as she quickly buried her face in Olivia's neck.

"Nothing will mess up what we have, because we are fighting for what we have. If someone tries to mess up our life, we will fight them hard," Olivia replied.

"Are you sure that this is what you want? Like you don't want to get a divorce and-" 

"Amanda Louise, I love you so much and enjoy being your wife. Watching you with our kids is worth all the trouble you caused me over the years," Olivia smiled, as she gave her wife's body a tight squeeze.

"Can we climb into bed and just talk? I'm a little too emotional right now for my earlier plans," Amanda spoke, as she stepped back and moved to grab her pajamas.

"Of course, Mandy. Anything for you."
