Chapter 38
08:59, 2 August 2013Chapter 38:
"Kendall!" Kathy exclaimed as he had tweeted a picture of her and me making the pastries.
"What?" He asked innocently as he fixed his beanie on top if his head. She rolled her eyes smiling and continued to clean the counters of flour. I however was forced to sit next to Kendall and not clean. I sat drinking my coffee as Kendall did as well. I leaned my head on his shoulder as he grabbed my hand, leaving it in plain sight on the counter. "Oh mom, remember my friend Heather?" Kendall asked. Kathy stopped a second and thought a moment. She then nodded, stopped cleaning and listening to her son as she took a sip from a mug. "She's engaged." Kendall announced. Kathy smiled.
"Awe, how nice. Who's the young man?" She asked. I smiled.
"My best friend Scott who I came to LA with." I said. Kathy put a hand to her chest and smiled.
"That's so sweet! God works in mysterious ways ya know, making it where two friends come to LA and meet another set of friends." Kathy winked at Kendall taking another sip of coffee.
"Mom..." Kendall griped at her. She giggled and nodded.
"Anyway, so, what are your guys' plans for Christmas?" Kathy asked us, looking between the two of us before we could answer. "Uh." I said looking at Kendall as he looked at me.
"We don't have any, are we being invited to your house?" I asked. She smiled and nodded.
"I guess we have plans here now." Kendall announced as thunder broke out above the house. I jumped startled. A moment later, the lights went out. Through the house, there was talking, and some young kids screamed as darkness broke out through the household. I grabbed onto Kendall, hoping this was reality and not one of my messed up dreams.
"Babe... Babe... My arm is losing feeling." Kendall chuckled loosening my grip. Kathy must've been digging through the Cupboards looking for most likely a flash light.
"Bobby, why don't we go into the living room where the fire place should be going?" Kendall asked leading me out of the kitchen. We went into the living room where Kevin, Kenneth, and Kent, Kendall's father, were lighting candles around the room. There were about thirty people now in the living room, as everyone was now gathered there and didn't really know what to do to pass the time. Kendall and I walked past plenty of people and sat in front of the fire place, soon joined by Kathy and kent to my left, with Kevin and Kenneth on the right of Kendall.
"It's boring!" Some younger family members yelled out. I giggled as Kevin stood up.
"I have an idea, come on little bro." Kevin said patting Kendall on the back. Light from lightning shown through the windows in the living room. I really wished Kendall hadn't had followed Kevin to wherever they were going. But only minutes later, they were back, Kendall holding a guitar. "Okay everyone, just like old times, Kendall Schmidt is going to sing for us!" Kevin said sitting down, Kendall shortly following his brothers move sitting next to me.
"You okay babe?" Kendall asked strumming the guitar a bit. I nodded, our faces illuminated by the fire light. "Okay, one, two, three, four." Kendall mumbled strumming his guitar. He was amazing. Everything he did was perfect as if it came natural and no practice was necessary.
