THIRTY FIVEcontinuum ALEXA MONTGOMERYTHE SANCTUARY

I rushed to the railing, looking over to the bottom, my head spinning. I was terrified. I could hear people in pain, but I could hear others shooting their guns.

Everyone ran out in terror, others laying on the floor either dead or injured from the explosion. They were closer than I thought.

My eyes stared in horror as I gazed down at some of my people bleeding out with missing limbs.

My jaw clenched and my hands gripped the railing. This can't be happening.

This must all be a dream.

There's no way this is happening again.

Horrible memories flashed in my head in and out. Flashes of me getting hit with the explosions, flashes of Alexandria dying, flashes of dad dying.

I was ripped from my thoughts when there was an eruption fairly close to me, causing the almost unstable ground I stood on to shake violently.

I quickly ran down the stairs, sprinting down the hallways, pushing passed people as I did.

"Everyone out!" I yelled as I made my way through the halls. Most of the people were coming from the armory, getting ready for the war.

My head filled with thoughts. Scary thoughts.

As I finally got to the armory, I ran to the right side, grabbing the most powerful gun I could find. I also armed myself with 2 SIG Sauer p226's.

I frantically looked around for something else useful. I went to the back, spotting grenades and something that I have never ever used before.

I had no time to argue with myself whether it was safe to use or not.

I grabbed a few grenades, a small bag to put them in, and then the weapon I almost was too scared to use.

I wasn't going to use it unless it was absolutely necessary. It was huge, but it had a sling so I could put it on my back.

It was heavy and definitely slowed me down, but it provided a great amount of safety.

I left the armory and rushed to the source of more explosions, yelling and gunshots.

Once I reached the main area where I just was not even 10 minutes ago, my heart broke.

Seeing all the bodies. All the ones who were left to suffer. I couldn't kill them just yet.

There was just no time.

More detonations blew in every direction, causing the building to begin to have debris.

My heart raced, my stomach completely dropping. I felt so sick.

I needed to get everyone out.

I needed to kill every single living drifter.

I made it outside, bullets flying through the air.

I raised my gun, shooting at the ones I knew weren't my people.

My legs carried me quickly, dodging the bullets in the air.

I spotted 3 drifters hiding behind trees. I raised my Heckler and Koch HK416, aiming it at the men who shot at my family.

I pulled the trigger, gunning them down.

I sprinted towards the bodies of the people I just killed, hiding behind that tree, checking the area for other drifters.

Once I saw that it was clear, I squatted down to their bodies and checked for anything useful.

I searched every single pocket, finding 2 grenades and an empty clip.

"Useless pieces of shit." I muttered, shooting them in the head.

I stood up fully, trying to sneak my way to where they all were, but before I could take another step, a strong force knocked me down onto the ground.

I yelped as the back of my head hit the rocks on the floor. A fist connected with my cheek hardly, but that didn't cause me any pain in this moment.

I grabbed the hands of the man and tried to throw him off of me, but he was about 215 pounds and I was 115.

"You all made a mistake coming back here." I threatened, throwing my fist to his throat, but his quick hands caught it.

He twisted my wrist, his other hand pulling out a knife. I screeched, trying to bring my wrist out of his hand.

"You made the mistake of coming here." I grunted as I tried to get him off.

"That's the thing... you'll go down, we win." He growled, thrusting the knife into my left shoulder.

I screamed, kicking my legs and throwing him off of me. I toppled on top of him, shoving my knee into his throat to hold him down.

"You asshole that hurt!" My right hand gripped the handle of the knife and yanked it out with a yelp. Bad idea.

"Y-you're gonna d-die." The man choked. "Whatever." I thrashed the knife down into his forehead, killing him instantly.

I sighed, my head tilting down and my right hand gripping my wound."Oh you dick." I whispered and stood up, my legs trembling.

I then heard a yell from a far but didn't quite make out what it said.

I twisted my head to where the yelling was coming from to see Rick and Carl running in this direction, his gun pointed right near me.

"carl, rick!" Thank god they were okay. He was still yelling something but I just couldn't hear it.

Rick pulled the trigger, the bullet barely missing me."Woah, asshole! Watch where you're shooting!" I shouted, turning my body towards them

"Watch out! Behind you!" He yelled once again once he was a bit closer.

My eyes widened and I turned around immediately, seeing a drifter.

Before I could do or say anything, I felt a sharp pain in my stomach.

My legs grew numb instantly and my throat clogged with something. The drifter then took off, but that was the least of my worries.

I tilted my head down, seeing a metal pole through my abdomen. My numb legs gave out and I fell to my knees.

"Alexa!" "No no no!" Carl and Rick finally approached me, dropping to their knees as well, but it was too late.

I coughed, nothing but blood coming out. Bad sign.

"P-pull it... out." I mumbled, my body losing all feeling in general.

"Alexa, n-no... that'll kill you." Carl held his hands on my back, tears flowing down his cheek.

"R-Rick. Pull... it... out." My voice was barely audible because I just could not feel a thing."Alexa please-""Do it!"

Ricks eyes that were welding up with tears looked at Carl, then down at the pole.

His bloody hands gripped it and slowly pulled it from my body. I let out a scream and then fell onto my back, feeling the blood gush from my stomach.

"W-we need to get you to- to a doctor." Rick panicked, grabbing my hand tightly.

"Mmm- no." I shook my head, feeling it being lifted and laid down on Carl's lap.

His hands were cradling my cheeks, his body quivering.

"Alexa you- you can't die." He cried softly.

"I-its okay... we- we alm... almost made it c-Carl." My breath began to short and sharp.

I was going to die and I knew it. I knew it as soon as more blood erupted from my throat and onto my face as I coughed it up.

"Alexa please!"

"G-go s-ave the- the oth-others." I felt a small tear leave my eye... but I wasn't scared.

I was going to be with my family.

With mom and dad. Where I belong."I love you! You can't die on me!" Carl shouted.

"It's o-okay my love." I could tell my life was draining away. All of my limbs were completely numb and I felt no pain.

"I-it doesn't h-hurt."

"Alexa, please just- just wake up!" What?"Wh-What?" I grumbled.

This is when I noticed that no more shots were being fired and all I could see was rick and Carl. I guess that happens in death.

"Alexa, sweetie, wake up." Rick said."W-wake up? I-m awake." I didn't understand what they meant.

My eyes shifted back to Carl. He was no longer crying. The feelings in my limbs came back. I lifted my head and I had no wound.

"Wake up."

This is shitty but u might be happy with the next chapter
