Chapter 62

10:01, 29 January 2016

*Payton's POV*It was now morning, and I woke up feeling extra horrible today. My nose was stuffy, or runny, or both if that's even possible, I got no sleep last night because I had a bad cough and couldn't breathe for the most part. I had a migraine that couldn't seem to go away even with the medicine, which accompanied a 103 fever. My throat was hurting a lot too, which didn't help when I tried to eat or talk.

My parents had been checking up on me a lot during the night, and Sean was bringing me ice waters to cool me down and snacks every now and then ever since I'd woken up a few hours ago. Or not really woken up, since I hadn't gotten much sleep at all.

I think Sean felt guilty from what I'd told everyone last night, even when I told them I was fine..

I picked up my phone and saw that it was now 10am, and I had a few messages from my friends, asking to hang out, stop by, or telling me to feel better because they'd probably heard that I was sick by now. One stood out to me though, and it was Kaden's flashy contact name staring back at me through my bright iPhone screen.

From; Pooh bear🔥❤️Text me when you're awake I wanna stop by if that's okay with you, hope you're feeling better xx

I smiled and texted him back.

To;Pooh bear🔥❤️Been up all night, but you can come over whenever xxx

He replied shortly after my few minutes of moping around and having a minor coughing fit.

From;Pooh bear🔥❤️I'll be over in 15 then(;

I took a few breaths through my mouth to catch air and got up, changing into a grey knitted short sleeve tee shirt, black Adidas leggings and all white Adidas sneakers(pic in media slot).

I walked downstairs without (many) complications, and into the kitchen to see my parents sitting there looking at something on their MacBook Pro set down on the glass table.

"Hey Payton, feeling any better?" My dad asks, and I take a breath to speak but start coughing right away.

"Does that answer your question?" I joke, leaning back against a wall. I guess it was the lack of oxygen from my nose being so stuffy, on top of the horribly deviated septum that I have, or maybe the fever, but I was feeling really lightheaded. "Death is slowly taking over me," I strained.

"You're so dramatic," my dad chuckled and looked down again at the screen in front of him.

"I know, I should be an actor, not a model, how didn't we see it before?" I asked dumbfound. I giggled a little at my over sarcastic thought and walked into the the pantry and grabbed a bag of mini marshmallows. I stuffed my hand inside the bag and shoved a handful into my mouth.

"You're just gonna eat those? You'll spoil your dinner Payton," my mom gave me a disapproving look.

"I don't want dinner, I want marshmallows," I pouted. "They help my throat, I read an article about it somewhere," I winked, putting another handful into my mouth, making some pour out onto the ground in the process.

"Since when do you read?" Sean blurted out, laughing in hysterics as he walked into the kitchen, opened the fridge, and grabbed a water bottle.

"Since it gives me an excuse to eat marshmallows for dinner," I went to shove him into the wall lightly, but he dodged my hands running away.

"If you get me sick, I'm seriously gonna break the heels off of your stilettos," he said in a threatening tone.

"Don't touch her shoes Sean, they cost more than you," my mom joked and I burst out laughing, spitting out some of the marshmallows in my mouth.

I heard the front door open, and seconds later Kaden walked in, a Starbucks cup in hand.

"Pooh bear!" I yelled running up to give him a hug.

"You know this latte was for you, but I might just give it to Sean, he is my favorite twin and all," he laughed.

"Boo, you whore," I exclaim, throwing mini marshmallows at him. He rolled his eyes and handed me the Starbucks cup.

"Thanks," I smiled and set it down on the kitchen bar table.

"So what've you done all day?" He wondered, walking in behind me towards the table where my parents were sitting at. I sat down in one of the bar stools near the table, and Kaden did too, taking the bar stool facing me.

"Watched some Netflix because I couldn't sleep, um... Caught up on some emails and booked some shows and shoots for next week, oh I walked into a wall a few minutes ago.." I chuckled, remembering the incident in my room as I was on my way down here. "I really wanna play football though," I pouted.

"We can play football when you're not running a fever and can't breathe half of the time," he countered.

"I'm fine-d," I rolled my eyes.

"Fine doesn't have a d at the end of it, you're not fine-d," he mocked me.

"Is that seat comfortable?" I asked.

"Yeah? Why?" He looked at me in an 'are you okay' type of way.

"Just 'cause I thought that the floor would be more comfortable for you," I smiled.

"Why would th-" he started but I pushed him off of the bar chair as he fell on the floor. "Funny, really," he rolled his eyes jokingly.

"Don't mock me then," I giggled.

"Why are you on the floor?" Sean laughed, coming back into the kitchen looking at Kaden weirdly.

"Oh, I thought it would be more comfortable than the chair," Kaden spoke with sarcasm dripping from his voice. I held back a laugh, but failed horribly. I took a sip of the white chocolate chai latte Kaden had brought me, as he stood up from the ground and sat back in his chair, taking his phone out of his back pocket while doing so.

"What're you doing?" I questioned as he pointed his phone at me.

"Vine," he smirked. "How're you feeling Payton?"

I played along with it.

"I'm fine-d," I said with a straight face but then burst out laughing. He ended the vine, and I could tell he tagged me in it because I heard my phone go off after that since my notifications were on for his vines. I rolled my eyes and got up to get some water out of the fridge.

I instantly regretted it, because the rush of dizziness coming to my head was too much for me.

"Pay, you okay hun?" My mom asked, looking up from her work on the laptop, as did my dad soon after,

"Y-yeah," I replied, and continued walking towards the fridge. Water would help, it always does. I'm probably just dehydrated.

Taking a few more steps, my head spun even more, and my vision soon became fuzzier, then darker.

I felt myself completely black out, hitting the ground harshly.

~•~•~•~•~•~•~Beep.

Beep.

Beep.

Beep.

I groaned, my first instinct being to clutch my head, as if the throbbing headache I had would just go away by doing so. I opened my eyes, adjusting to the brightness of the bland, tackily decorated room, soon recognizing myself to be in a hospital.

"Oh good, you're awake," a woman in her early 30's came in through the door with a smile plastered. She had a white coat on, and dressed professionally, so I had assumed that she was my doctor.

"Yeah, why am I here?" I questioned, still holding onto my head.

"You passed out, probably from the stress your friends had told me about," she explained, jotting something down on her clipboard.

Stress? I wasn't under any stress? What was she talking about?

"I'll go let your party know that you're awake now," she nodded her head as she walked back out of the door which she came from.

Soon after, Kaden, Matt, Brooklyn, and Sean came into the room. Why was Brooklyn here? Didn't I tell him we couldn't be friends because I couldn't be hurt again?

"How're you feeling?" Sean asked, feeling my forehead for a supposed temperature.

"I feel fine," I swatted his hand away. No 'fine-d' this time. Huh. Guess my nose wasn't as stuffed as I thought it was anymore.

"You need ice, and water, and food while I'm at it, be right back," he rushed out of the room. Good, I thought to myself.

"How long have I been out for?" I rubbed my temples.

"A few hours, you were probably really stressed, I mean it was a lot of pressure to put you on the spot like that I'm sorry," Brooklyn bit his lip. Wait what?

"Why would I have been stressed? On the spot for what?" I questioned.

"We were in the hotel, remember? And we sort of asked you to choose between us really suddenly," Kaden explains. Why tf would we have been in a hotel?

Then I remembered the last time we were all in a hotel together, the closest thing in my mind to what they were describing.

"So are you just gonna not choose one of us? Have you moved on or something?" Brooklyn kept on packing.

"No, it's hard to just 'choose.' And can't I just say hi to a guy without you guys freaking interrogating me?!" I tried to keep myself calm.

"It's hard for us too. We can't just wait around for you to make up your mind." Kaden said, but not in an angry way.

"You want to know who I choose?" I asked, and they nodded their heads carefully. I sighed and decided to just answer. One of them's gonna be hurt anyways, so I might as well just do it now.

No.

It can't be.

"What date is it?" I asked, and they gave me a concerned look. Brooklyn took his phone out of his pocket and looked at it briefly before responding.

"May 16th," he answered.

I felt my face go pale, and my breath caught in my throat.

Because last time I checked, it was May 24th.
