Chapter 17

06:31, 18 August 2016

*Payton's POV*I lay down on the couch just after me and Brooklyn made up. I was so scared that I didn't feel anything, because I wanted to so, so badly.

But he did hurt me, and it's gonna take time for me to get over that.

Brooklyn went home, and I was just watching TV, icing my knees, since I've always had horrible knees from playing football so much from a young age.

I heard the front door unlock and my parents soon walked into the living room, my dad carrying his football stuff, and my mom carrying sketchbooks and shopping bags.

"How're you feeling sweetie?" My mom asked me, setting the bags down onto the table. She was referring to me complaining constantly about being jet lagged and starting to come down with a cold.

"A little tired, but I feel like I need to get up and do something, I've literally not done anything all day," I explained, getting up and starting to walk over to the kitchen where my parents were.

I sat down in one of the kitchen bar chairs and continued talking.

"Well if you really want to go somewhere, we were invited to the Beckham's for dinner if you wanna come join us," my mom answered, looking through her bags that she brought home.

"I think I forgot something in the car, I'll be right back," she said and left for the car.

"Yeah, I guess I'll come," I said.

"Are you okay Payton? You've sort of been.. distant these past few days," my dad asked carefully.

"Uh, yeah.. probably just tired and stuff, hadn't really noticed," I lied. I knew exactly what he was talking about and it was true, that I'd seemed distant. It was because of my eating, and the Brooklyn thing, and I'm just now settling back into my normal ways.

"Alright.. well we're going in about a half an hour, if you're coming," my dad said just as my mom came through the doorway with another shopping bag. I smiled and made my way to the elevator, not in the mood exactly to take the stairs. I got in once the doors opened and pressed the third floor, where my bedroom was.

When I got into my room I looked in the mirror and saw a complete mess.

Get your shit together Pay!

I put on a white top with a floral skirt and white vans.

I put on some concealer, bronzer, eyeshadow and mascara(see pic in media slot). I tried to keep it simple, but still look like I wasn't sleeping all day.

I left my hair how it was, curled already at the ends, and grabbed my phone to leave.

I took the elevator down again, and waited in the living room in the meantime.

"Well don't you look gorgeous hun," my mom commented as she walked down the stairs, putting her earrings in.

"Just making the best of it," I laughed.

"You girls ready to go?" I hear my dad say from down the hall. Guess Sean's not coming.. I nod my head and I start making my way to the garage to get into the car. We decided to take the Aston Martin today, and I climbed into back seat.

Once we were at the Beckham's, my dad rang the doorbell, and shortly after, David answered the door with Cruz and Romeo by his side.

"You never used the number.. What a shame," Romeo said with a disappointed look on his face that matched cruz's almost identical one.

"Gotta save it for a time when its needed, you have to have strategies to win the game," I winked and their expressions lit up.

We're let in, and make our way down the hall towards the living room to wait for when dinner's ready.

I head into the kitchen to see Vic and Brooklyn in there. Vic was finishing up cooking, and Brooklyn was on the bar stool on his phone. He was wearing a white tee shirt, khaki colored jeans, and grey and white nike airs(pic in media slot). He looks up at me once I near the kitchen and smiles.

"Do you even have to try? Because I'm pretty sure you've been sleeping all day and you still look like this," he laughs, and I sit down on the bar stool beside him. I roll my eyes and the laughter dies down.

"How was your day?" I ask, as he takes hold of my hand under the table.

"I watched harped and the boys all day, my parents just got home, I love my siblings, but they're a lot to handle sometimes," he chuckled lightly. "How was yours?"

"You were right, I was sleeping all day," I laughed.

"Dinner's ready," I hear Vic yell.

Oh my god. I totally forgot!

"Brooklyn.. I forgot about..." I say in a panicked tone. He gets what I'm talking about and tries to calm me down.

"It's okay.. just do what we've practiced. Just eat little by little.. and if anyone asks, then you're not hungry because you're starting to get sick," he says quietly. I nod my head and walk over to the dining room. Brook pulls a chair out for me, and I sit down.

We start eating, and I grab my fork into my right hand. We were having Italian tonight, it used to be my favorite. I start eating, but slowly. I wasn't even listening to what everyone was saying, I was just focusing on what I was doing, then I heard my name. I whipped my head up, and looked around at everyone staring at me.

"Huh? Sorry I'm just really tired," I said.

"We were just telling the story of how you scored one on three," My dad and David laughed at the embarrassing story of being beaten by a 16-year-old girl.

"You made me play against you guys, so it really was your fault," I laughed, sitting my fork down. I had about three bites of my food, but that was better than nothing I guess.

"She got past me with a corkscrew! It took months for me to master that," David told everyone.

"Really? Because it took a YouTube video and 15minutes for me to get it," I laughed and David rolled his eyes. The conversation continued on, but I sort of zoned out again. Not focusing on food this time though, but just in general.

"Hey, you okay?" Brooklyn asked me, looking over from where he was sitting on my left.

"Yeah, must be so tired from the jet lag, I've never been one to adjust to it quickly," I smiled.

When dinner was done, the families decided to watch a movie. We decided on a marvel movie for the kids, which I'd already seen, so I didn't care much for it.

I just went on Twitter for the time being, scrolling through my timeline for a little while, then favoriting and retweeting fan tweets.

I kept seeing the same picture of me and Brooklyn at the waterfall we went to on our 'first date', and people were starting to draw conclusions about who the guy was. Some were saying it was Kaden, others said Brooklyn, and the other people kept putting out random guesses on who it could've been since you couldn't see the guy's face or hair much since it was covered up by Brooklyn's hat.

Just to mess with people, I decided on favoriting a bunch of different guesses.

After the movie, my parents decided on staying over after the kids were put to sleep.

"Are you staying too?" Brooklyn asks me.

"I don't know, I haven't seen Sean this whole time I've been back, I might just go and hang out with him for a while, he might not be home though or with Matt," I shrugged. Pulling out my phone from my bag nearby, I send a quick text asking him if he was home or not.

After a while of waiting for a response (and not getting one s/o to Sean), I left for my house with the intent to go to bed early. Walking through the doors, I saw Sean and Kaden in the living room playing FIFA, not even noticing me walking in.

"Hey, remember when I texted you asking if you were home and you responded that you were? Because I don't, it never happened," I said loud enough for them to pause their game and pan their attention to me.

Sean looked at me confused, then glanced over to his phone, checking it.

"Oh yeah, I'm home by the way," he said and resumed his game.

"You're so irritating," I sighed dramatically, walking into the kitchen for a water.

Walking back in, we continued our conversation.

"Sorry, I was too busy winning to respond," Sean explained and received a punch from Kaden.

"We're a goal apart, only because you kept playing the game while I was out of the room getting water," Kaden countered, and Sean rolled his eyes.

"Did you need something?" Sean asked.

Well not anymore....

"No, I'm just gonna go head up to bed early, mom and dad are still at the Beckham's," I explained and began walking out of the room.

"What's with you and Beckham by the way," I heard Sean's voice from behind me, forcing me to turn around again.

"We're good, now's not the time to get all overprotective brother on me by the way."

"I won't right now, but no promises for later," he grinned.

"Night guys," I laughed, continuing to walk back up the stairs again.

Getting into my room, I make my way into the bathroom and take off my makeup and pull my hair up into a ponytail, then slip into some grey Nike shorts and a white tee shirt to sleep in.

Crawling into bed, I start to scroll through my social medias and catch up on some YouTube videos until a knock on my door interrupts me.
