(Y/N)
"Laxus, stop!" I stood in the entrance of the doorway, squinting my eyes do to the light being cast from Laxus' buildup of magic energy. He was letting out a bestial yell as he built up more and more energy. I still was in shock that he had mastered Fairy Law, let alone was really resorting to using it to win the guild.
Natsu and Gajeel's head whipped around to stare at me.
I guess Gajeel joined the fight. Must've been some battle with three dragon slayers fighting.
"(Y/n)?!" Natsu exclaimed. At that moment Levy entered behind me and grabbed my arm, hiding behind me from Laxus' fury. Gajeel's eyes landed on her.
"You idiot, what are you doing here?" Gajeel spat at her, though he was clearly saying it out of concern for her wellbeing.
I took a step forward and walked towards Laxus slowly, my hair flowing behind me because of the wind from Laxus' energy. Natsu and Gajeel laid down in front of Laxus, obviously knocked down by him.
"Laxus, stop this. That kind heart of gold I know you have inside you has been clouded with these delusions of us being weak. But this does not define you. Hell, maybe we are weak," I chuckled. "But if we are, we're only weak on a basis of magic, because we have something so much more important than magic- family."
I continued walking forward until I was so close to him I could touch him. I could feel everyone's eyes on me.
"Laxus, what you're doing is making Master sick. See him one last time, before it's too late. He's on his deathbed, Laxus." I could hear Natsu and Gajeel take a sharp inhale behind me. At this point Laxus had stopped bellowing and building up energy, though he still held the orb of light energy in between his palms. I took one last step. "Please Laxus, I know that big heart is still inside you. Stop this now; it's not too late. This is not who you are. You know who you are."
I placed a hand gingerly on his cheek and felt tears cascading down my cheeks as I looked into his completely white, lifeless eyes of fury. "Who you truly are."
At this his pupils came back and dilated. His pupils shook and stared right at me as he processed all of this.
Without warning he glanced past me at the two dragon slayers. His lips curved into a wicked smile while my hand still held his cheek. "This is working out perfectly for me. Now that the old man's at death's door I have an even better chance of becoming Fairy Tail's new master."
My face contorted to that of horror, but he remained unfazed. He didn't even look at me; it was as if he was completely ignoring the fact I was standing right in front of him. Levy let out a chocked sob and Gajeel muttered under his breath, "Damn you."
"This will be the dawn of a new era for Fairy Tail!" Laxus exclaimed as he began charging up his magic again and rubble from the destroyed church rose around him. "I'll rebuild everything from the ground up. I'll form the ultimate guild, one so powerful all will tremble at our name!"
I felt frozen watching Laxus form these terrible words. Never would I have ever imagined him saying this about our guild.
"You can't do this! Don't you even care about Gramps at all?!" Natsu cried out.
"Fairy Law." Laxus' grin grew as a magic circle appeared in front of him with the Fairy Tail insignia on it.
"(Y/n), move!"
I couldn't move. I couldn't breathe. It felt like my brain had gone frozen and my legs had gone numb and all I could do was watch the love of my life kill me and all of our loved ones. Maybe I just didn't want to move. Maybe somewhere in my heart I thought that he would realize the error of his ways and stop this.
I felt Levy's small hand wrap around my wrist and try to pull me away, but it didn't work. I stood staring into Laxus' eyes that still refused to look at me.
I felt the muscular arms of Natsu and Gajeel begin to pull me away from Laxus. Now I could finally react. I squirmed in their arms but they held me, pulling me further and further away from the blond. "No, no! Laxus please! LAXUS!" I shrieked with tears running down my panicked visage.
As I called out a light so blinding surrounded us, and the whole town of Magnolia. We all flinched and shut our eyes.
I guess this is it. Ironic, killed by the one I thought would never hurt me. The love of my life. My mind flashed back to the time Laxus had hurt me in the past as teenagers. I should've known better. I thought bitterly.
"I guess this is the end." I whispered, smiling slightly as a single tear cascaded down my cheek.
"Heh, I finally surpassed the old man." I heard Laxus mutter, with a pinch of sadness to his voice.
The world around me faded to white.
Then, as quickly as it came, the light faded and left us all kneeling on the ground coughing.
"What the? No way... impossible! How in the hell are you all still alive?!" Laxus yelled, staring at us all with wide, confused eyes.
Gajeel ignored him, "Levy, are you alright?" He asked gently.
She gave him a small nod. "What about Natsu, is he okay?"
Natsu sat up, his teeth gritted and eyes covered with a shadow as he breathed heavily.
Gajeel smirked, "Looks just fine to me."
"But I hit them with so much magic energy..." Laxus stared at his hands in shock.
"The other guild members and the citizens of Magnolia remain unharmed." A voice came from the entrance, though I didn't turn to look at it. I kept my attention on Laxus.
"Freed." Laxus murmured.
"Looks like your spell didn't work." Freed continued on. "Not a single person was killed."
"But that's impossible. I cast the Fairy Law spell perfectly!" Laxus growled.
"That may be so, but your true feelings have betrayed you. You've inherited more than strength from your grandfather, deep down you also have the master's heart." Freed explained calmly.
I spoke up then. "Whether you admit it or not, it's obvious you care for us." As I spoke Laxus continued glaring at Freed, keeping his attention off me. "The Fairy Law spell only affects those the caster sees as their enemy, and since no one was hurt we know how you truly feel. Deep down, you don't see us as your enemy."
"You can try to hide your feelings Laxus, but your magic will always reveal the truth within your heart." Freed smiled as he explained.
"No, that's ridiculous. The truth is anyone who would ever dare stand in my is my enemy!" Laxus yelled.
"This has gone on long enough! You need to go see the master before he's gone!" Freed demanded, taking a step forward.
Lightning surrounded Laxus due to Freed's words. "Let the old man die for all I care! He's nothing to me; he may be family, but I'm stronger!"
"Who do you think you are?!" Natsu retorted. "You're not stronger than Gramps, you couldn't even pull off Fairy Law! You may be his grandson but you're no better than the rest of us! Don't you know blood-ties don't matter? Everyone in the guild is considered family!"
"That's a lie, blood-ties do matter!" Laxus' eyes turned all white once more.
"You've been a member long enough to know better than that," Fire surrounded Natsu. "If you think that makes you above everyone else in the guild you're wrong!" Natsu swung his fist at Laxus.
Laxus met Natsu's fist with his own and there was an explosion of lightning and fire that knocked Levy and I back. Normally I would've been able to withstand it like Gajeel, but in my injured state I had lost almost all my strength.
Gajeel looked back at us and walked towards us, wrapping his arm around Levy and guiding her out while Freed held my arm softly and led me out as well.
Levy looked back at me. "You okay?" She asked and I numbly nodded, staring at the church as the two dragon slayers burst out of the roof, battling midair for the fate of the guild. Then, black spots danced in my vision and I felt my knees buckle as the ground came closer and closer to my eyes.
Please, don't let him win Natsu.
"(Y/n)!" I heard Levy call out before I finally passed out from exhaustion.
