PART 33

18:06, 6 February 2026

When Gu Wei saw A-yuan, he immediately sat up. "You came back. Please forgive me for not returning sooner," Gu Wei cried, pleading for forgiveness. A-yuan knelt down to be at eye level with Gu Wei. He glanced at Haoxuan, who gave him a reassuring nod, and then A-yuan turned his attention back to Gu Wei.

Slowly, A-yuan raised his hand to wipe away Gu Wei's tears, which only made Gu Wei cry even more. "I'm sorry for what I said," A-yuan managed to say, his voice full of regret. Gu Wei shook his head. "Baby radish, you don't need to apologize. You did nothing wrong. Your reaction was valid, and it's okay," Gu Wei reassured him, pulling A-yuan into a hug without another word. "Even so, I'm still sorry. I shouldn't have said those things," A-yuan said, now crying as well.

Jiyang and Haoxuan exchanged glances and smiled at each other, as if they had accomplished a mission.

Meanwhile, as Eros drove, he tried calling Gu Wei, but couldn't reach him. After several minutes without an answer, he headed straight to the house he had built. He made another call, and after a few rings, the person on the other end picked up.

"My family is having a reunion next month, but before that, I need you to do something for me," Yibo said. "Regarding what?" the person asked. "Liying," Yibo replied curtly. "What??"

"I want her to taste her own medicine, and I want you to recheck the investigations about Xiao Zhan's disappearance," Yibo ordered, catching the person on the other end by surprise. "Are you sure about this? It's been 16 years. This won't be easy," the person complained.

"I know you can do it. Just find a way," Yibo said, leaving no room for argument before ending the call.

He made another call, this time to his lawyer. "I want you to prepare the divorce papers between me and Liying." The lawyer was so shocked that he couldn't speak. "Are you still there?" Eroe asked. "Ah...ah... yes, yes sir," the lawyer stammered. After Eros hung up, his lawyer immediately called Katrina, who answered right away.

"Hello, madam," he greeted. "Is there a problem?" Katrina asked. The lawyer took a deep breath before speaking. "Madam, Sir Wang is filing for divorce." Katrina's eyes widened in shock. "What? That can't happen, not now. If he files for divorce, he'll find out the truth," Katrina said, alarmed.

Elsewhere, Gu Wei and A-yuan remained silently hugging. After a while, A-yuan broke the silence. "If you and Dad were married, how did he marry Mom... I mean her?" A-yuan asked, uncertain if he should still call Liying "Mom" now that his real parent was there. Gu Wei gently pulled away from the hug.

"You can still call her Mom. I'm not rushing you to accept everything, so take your time until you're ready," Gu Wei said, taking a deep breath. "I was gone for a long time, so I don't know how or why they got married. And... Liying is my sister." A-yuan's eyes nearly popped out of his head in shock.

"So you're the one in the picture at Grandma's house. Whenever I looked at it, mo..m she would get mad," A-yuan said, and Gu Wei chuckled a little, noticing how A-yuan struggled with whether to still call Liying "Mom."

"I told you, you can call her Mom. It's okay with me," Gu Wei reassured him, though A-yuan looked at him with a sad expression. "Won't it hurt you if I do that?" he asked innocently. Gu Wei forced a smile. "I'll be okay. Baby radish"

They fell silent again. "Would it be selfish of me to wish for my family to be whole?" A-yuan asked out of nowhere, catching the attention of Jiyang, Haoxuan, and Gu Wei. Gu Wei saw the hopeful look in A-yuan's eyes, like a child asking for candy, and for a moment, Gu Wei lost his voice.

Realizing what he had said, A-yuan was about to speak again, but Gu Wei spoke first. "It's not selfish to want a complete family, but right now, I don't know what to tell you, baby radish," Gu Wei said sadly. "Because I never wanted you to grow up in a broken family," he added.

A moment later, A-yuan fell silent. "Is there something you want to say?" Gu Wei asked gently. A-yuan hesitated, glancing at him. "I want to be with both of you. I want to see you together as my parents," A-yuan said, nearly causing Gu Wei to choke on his own saliva. He glanced at Jiyang and Haoxuan, then looked back at A-yuan, whose eyes were full of hope.

A-yuan only knew that Zhan had been kidnapped and was unaware of the situation between Liying, Yibo, and Zhan. "A-yuan, you know..." Haoxuan started to speak, but Jiyang interrupted. "Can we talk for a momen?" he asked. Haoxuan and A-yuan agreed, and as they left the room, despite his hesitation, A-yuan hugged Gu Wei, which brought a smile to Gu Wei's face.

"A-yuan is sixteen year old, and if you explain to him that you can't be with his father, he'll understand," Jiyang said once he and Gu Wei were alone in the room. Gu Wei took a deep breath, unable to stop the tears from falling.

Gu Wei: "This is the first time he's asked me for something, not as some pretend magic bracelet, and when I saw the happiness in his eyes, I couldn't refuse him."

"But what about your own feelings? It's not easy to ignore what you learned last night," Jiyang said worriedly. "A-yuan doesn't know I'm angry with Eros, and I have no intention of letting him find out. I'll get my revenge on them both in a way that won't hurt A-yuan, and at the same time, he won't be angry with Eros. With that said, I'll put aside my anger for the sake of my child's happiness. His life with Liying wasn't easy, and I don't want him to experience that again with me," Gu Wei said, wiping away his tears.

"I am Gu Wei, not Xiao Zhan, and that's what he knows, and that's what I'll stand by. You should go downstairs; I'll just change and call Lay." Jiyang had no choice but to leave, but before he did, he told Gu Wei that he wouldn't be able to reach Lay because he might still be on the plane and explained the reason for Lay's sudden return it was because of what happened last night.

[Message]"I couldn't reach you, so I'm leaving a message instead. I told A-yuan the truth earlier than I planned, and I know it wasn't easy for him, but I'll wait until he fully accepts me. I'm so happy right now that I don't need an excuse just to be with him. By the way, he wants the three of us to be together. Call me when you land."

Afterward, Gu Wei composed himself, changed into something comfortable, and went downstairs where Jiyang and Haoxuan were seated.

While driving, Gu Wei couldn't help but glance at A-yuan, seeing how happy he was. "Are you happy?" he asked with a smile. A-yuan nodded excitedly.

Meanwhile, Eros was anxiously waiting outside his house, unable to contain his joy. He was certain his son would thank him for managing to bring Gu Wei to them.

Earlier, while Eroe was restlessly waiting, his phone suddenly rang, and when he saw that it was Gu Wei calling, he quickly answered. "Gu Wei," Yibo said. He heard a deep sigh on the other end. "A-yuan is very special to me, so whatever he wants, I'm willing to give," Gu Wei said, ignoring the excitement in Yibo's voice. "He wants the three of us to bond together." Yibo furrowed his brows, wondering why A-yuan would wish for that. And why would Gu Wei agree

"Your son just got out and wants some fresh air. Let's indulge him; he's been in the hospital for a while," Gu Wei explained, unsure if he sounded suspicious. "Oh, okay, so we can bond as well. By the way, about the..." Yibo began to say, but Gu Wei cut him off. "Let's not mention that. We'll come to you," Gu Wei said.

Yibo sighed, and when he saw Gu Wei's car approaching, he ran toward them.
