PART 34

Before unlocking his car door, Gu Wei reminded A-yuan of the agreement they made before he allowed them to be together.

Flashback.

"Baby Radish, before I agree, can I ask a favor from you?" A-yuan was puzzled but nodded nonetheless. "Your dad can't know who I really am," Gu Wei said. A-yuan looked at him, confused. "Are you and Dad fighting?" A-yuan asked sadly. Gu Wei shook his head. "No, no, your dad and I aren't fighting. There are just some things that are hard to explain right now," Gu Wei explained. "And your dad is still married to Liying," he added.

"But you're married to Dad too, right?" This time, Gu Wei didn't know how to respond, and A-yuan quickly noticed. "Alright, I won't tell Dad who you are. I promise," A-yuan said. Gu Wei smiled at him, thanked him, and then called Yibo.

End of Flashback.

"I promise I won't tell our secret. What's important to me now is being with both of you" A-yuan said with a smile.

A-yuan happily stepped out of the car and immediately embraced Eros. "Dad, why didn't you go to the hospital earlier?" Yibo glanced at Gu Wei, who was avoiding his gaze, trying not to cry. "There was an emergency. How are you feeling now?" Eros asked, because of the attention that A-yuan receives from Eros, instead of answering, hugged Yibo tightly.

A moment later, Yibo suggested that A-yuan go inside first. A-yuan eagerly agreed and went inside. Once A-yuan was inside, Gu Wei went to the back of the car and lit a cigarette. "I can face him as if nothing happened, for the sake of my child," Gu Wei thought to himself, but his thoughts were interrupted when he sensed Eros approaching him.

He tightened his grip on his cigarette. "About..." Eros began to speak, but Gu Wei cut him off by turning to face him. "Let's not talk about what happened last night. I'm sorry if I reacted the way I did. Whatever happened between you and Xiao Zhan is none of my business now, and I just want us both to be comfortable in front of your child," Gu Wei said before continuing to smoke.

Eros felt a sadness he couldn't fully understand as Gu Wei's cold demeanor made him feel distant, even though they were standing close together. "Sorry," was all Eros could say. Gu Wei didn't respond, and after finishing his cigarette, he took out some alcohol, spraying it along with a bit of perfume to remove the smell of smoke.

"Let's go inside," Gu Wei invited as he headed towards the gate. Eros, however, remained rooted in place, watching Gu Wei's back as he slowly disappeared from view.

"I'll find out who you really are and why you're so close to A-yuan despite only being with him a few times. Should I consider repeating the DNA test?" Eros questioned himself before stepping inside.

Elsewhere, after speaking with Yibo's lawyer, Katrina called Lara. "How are you?" Lara asked on the other end of the line. "I'm okay, but I think we might have a small problem," Katrina replied, and her concern was evident in her voice.

"What happened?" Lara asked. Katrina sighed. "Yibo's lawyer called to inform me that Yibo is filing for divorce."

"What? Why did he suddenly decide that?" Lara asked, shocked. Katrina recounted the events of the morning and what Yibo had done, causing Lara to grip her phone tightly. "Even though I know that Liying's mistake is unforgivable and that she must face the consequences, it doesn't change the fact that they are both my children, and it breaks my heart to see them come to this," Lara said, unable to hold back her tears.

"I never failed to remind Liying that she shouldn't interfere in her brother's relationship, but she's stubborn. Whatever she wants, she does, and because of her stubbornness, she has put her brother in harm's way," Lara added.

Meanwhile, Haoxuan and Jiyang waited for Lay at the airport. After 30 minutes, they saw Lay coming out and immediately approached him. After exchanging greetings, Lay mentioned that he had read Gu Wei's message but didn't call him back because he received a message from both of them that they would be picking him up.

"They're at Yibo's house now," Haoxuan said as they got into the car. "Then let's give them some time," Lay suggested. "How is Liying?" Lay asked. Jiyang and Haoxuan exchanged knowing smiles. "She was rushed to the hospital after fainting," Jiyang replied, causing Lay to look at him. "This afternoon, Yibo left their house with his belongings, but not before he hit Liying, which is why she was taken to the hospital" Jiyang recounted with a chuckle.

Lay laughed as well. "Maybe my cousin hit his head, and now he's coming back to his senses," Lay joked.

Elsewhere, Ziyi received a call from Haoxuan. (Ziyi is Gu Wei's psychologist, and her girlfriend is Xuan Lu. Gu Wei's cousin.)

"Why? Did something happen?" Lulu asked. "Yes, they sent me the voice recording of Yibo and Gu Wei's conversation. Honestly, I feel so sorry for your cousin. Why can't he catch a break from all these problems in life? He's shown great improvement these past few days, probably because he's been spending so much time with A-yuan," Ziyi said while packing their things.

"This is all Liying's fault. Sometimes, I wonder if she's a demon disguised as a human because if you were a decent person, you wouldn't do that to your brother. I'm just his cousin, but I love him very much not as a cousin but as a brother, once my brother was jealous because I loved Zhan more than him" Lulu said jokingly, causing both of them to laugh.

As Gu Wei stepped inside, he couldn't help but smile at the sight of A-yuan happily exploring the interior of the house. "If it weren't for what happened, we probably would have created many happy memories in this house, and there's a good chance A-yuan would have had a sibling by now," Gu Wei thought to himself. But as soon as he realized where his thoughts had wandered—to the idea of A-yuan having a sibling—he blushed and shook his head. "What are you thinking, Gu Wei? Stop it," he scolded himself.

He was startled when Yibo spoke behind him. "What are you thinking about? Why are you blushing?" Gu Wei glared at him. "How I'm going to make life difficult for you and Liying," Gu Wei replied sarcastically. "And I'm blushing out of anger," he added before walking away, leaving Yibo puzzled.

"What did he say?" Yibo muttered to himself. "Sometimes, he's so hard to understand," he remarked.

"Do you like it here?" Gu Wei asked A-yuan, who smiled and said, "Yes, especially when I'm with both of you." Gu Wei smiled back awkwardly. "Dad, whose house is this?" A-yuan asked as Yibo approached.

"It's mine," Yibo said, glancing at Gu Wei. "Does...," A-yuan hesitated, noticing Gu Wei wasn't looking at him. "Mom," A-yuan finished softly. "Does she know about this?"

"She doesn't know, and she mustn't find out. So don't tell her," Yibo responded, and A-yuan nodded cheerfully. "Since you're guests here, what would you like to eat? I'll cook; I'm pretty good at it," Yibo boasted, making Gu Wei roll his eyes.

"There's a lot of hot air in here, probably from all the wind blowing through your head," Gu Wei quipped, making A-yuan laugh. Yibo pouted. "But I'm handsome," he retorted. "We don't care, right buddy?" Gu Wei said, taking A-yuan's hand and leading him to the sofa. "Why are you both ganging up on me?" Yibo asked dramatically, even pretending to wipe fake tears. But instead of feeling sorry for him, A-yuan and Gu Wei just laughed.

"You're such a fool," Gu Wei said. A-yuan, sitting between them, suggested, "How about a contest to see who's the better cook? I'll be the judge and decide whose food tastes the best."

Gu Wei gave an awkward smile, scratching the back of his neck. "I don't know how to cook," he said shyly. When he was still with Eros, Eros had learned how to cook so that once they got married, he could always do the cooking for them. That's how much Eros loved Ebisu. But after everything Ebisu went through, he never got the chance to learn these kinds of things.

Eros smiled. "You don't know how, or are you afraid of losing?" Yibo teasingly asked. Gu Wei stood up and crossed his arms over his chest. "Me, afraid? No way." A-yuan whispered to Gu Wei. "Challenge him. I'll be the judge." Gu Wei glanced meaningfully at A-yuan, then turned back to Yibo. "Fine, I'll compete with you in cooking," Gu Wei said, and Yibo happily pulled him towards the kitchen.

As Eros led him, Gu Wei looked at A-yuan as if his life depended on him. A-yuan gave him a thumbs-up while following them. When they reached the kitchen, A-yuan couldn't resist taking a picture of the two of them, and in his excitement, he sent it to his friends Jinling and Jingyi.

Elsewhere, the twins Jinling and Jingyi were in their room when Jingyi suddenly raised his voice. "Is that Uncle Yibo and A-yuan's superhero uncle?" Jingyi asked, grabbing Cheng's attention. "Is that Gu Wei?" Cheng asked as he looked at Jingyi's phone. "They're together, the three of them? Does Yibo know? Is that why they're together?" Cheng questioned himself, taking Jingyi's phone to show it to his husband and in-laws.

Meanwhile, Yibo took an apron and put it on Gu Wei, trying to hide his awkwardness since A-yuan was watching them. "Now my family is complete. Maybe if he's with us, Dad will love me more and finally give me the time I deserve," A-yuan whispered to himself, smiling.
