PART 26
21:35, 5 August 2024[Chat]"Are you so busy that Lay has to tell me?"
"But it’s okay, at least he told me."
"I’ll pick you up tonight. I wanted to visit you, but I might disturb you."
"It’s okay if you don’t reply as long as I know you read this." (Seen)
"By the way, By the way, I slept here in the hospital with A-yuan" (typing..) Yibo smirked. This time, Gu Wei replied. "It’s good you’re giving your son some time."
Eros: "You reply so fast when it’s about A-yuan."
Gu Wei: "Because he’s more handsome than you."
Eros: Wait, what?? Do you like my son?😲 He's still baby.🙄😑
Gu Wei: "Hahahahaha, idiot, your emoji is as annoying as you are, I’m busy. Bye."
Eros: "Answer my question."
Gu Wei: "That kid is like my baby, idiot. Bye."
Eros: "Is he really more handsome than me?"
"YESSSSSSSS SUPERRRRR."
"Dad, why are you laughing?" asked A-yuan, who had just woken up. It was the first time he had seen his father this happy, so he was curious about who he was chatting with.
"Oh, you're awake. I am chatting with someone who is blind. How are you feeling? " Yibo asked, surprising A-yuan. In the past few days, A-yuan had wondered if he was seeing things because his father's behavior towards him had changed. If getting sick meant he could get his father's attention, he would want that.
"I'm okay, Dad. Thank you" A-yuan replied.
...
Late in the evening, Eros indeed picked up Gu Wei from his house. "You're here early" Gu Wei said as he approached Yibo. "I just wanted to be with you" Yibo replied meaningfully, causing Gu Wei to raise an eyebrow. "Is that so?" he said before getting into Yibo's car.
Meanwhile, Liying was waiting for Yibo to call her, as she knew he was going to an auction. "Is her secretary lying to me?" she wondered to herself.
Flashback.Liying had an informant in Yibo's company who reported all of Yibo's schedules and activities to her.
"Did the new interior designer come in?"
"No, ma'am."
"Why not?"
"I don't know, ma'am, but Sir is going to an auction tonight and mentioned he had company," the secretary said, making Liying happy. "He better make it up to me" Liying thought. "Did he say who?"
"No, ma'am, but I think it’s you since you’re his wife."
"Exactly! Okay, bye." After ending the call, Liying smiled broadly and quickly left her company to buy a new dress. As a fashion designer, she wanted a new style. While driving, she couldn't wipe the smile off her face as she imagined holding hands with Yibo in public. They had been married for a long time, but they had never attended events together.
"I know you will love me too," she whispered.
End of Flashback.
She called the secretary and learned that Eros had left a while ago. "If he left earlier, why isn't he here yet? I'm paying you not to be stupid," she yelled over the phone. "Give me the address of the auction," she ordered before hanging up.
While Yibo and Gu Wei were in the car, Gu Wei asked, "Doesn't your wife know you're going there with someone else?" Yibo glanced at him. "She doesn't need to know everything I do. We're only married on paper, that's all."
"Still, it's a marriage," Gu Wei said, looking out the car window.
"What exactly is the reason you married her?" Gu Wei asked while looking at Yibo. "We were drunk and then..." Yibo started to say, but Gu Wei interrupted. "Let's talk about it later; we don't want to ruin our night" Gu Wei said just as they arrived at their destination.
Upon entering, they saw that the place was quite crowded, and one of the staff members showed them to their seats. Since Yibo was a regular, he always got a VIP seat at the front. "Sir, right this way," the staff member said. Yibo nodded in response.
When the organizer got a good look at Gu Wei, his eyes widened, but before he could say anything, Gu Wei gave him a meaningful smile.
A few minutes later, they noticed a woman standing at the entrance. "So, it turns out my husband didn't invite me, but rather his cousin's fiancée!" Liying said loudly enough to capture the attention of everyone inside. As she walked towards Yibo and Gu Wei. Gu Wei whispered something to Yibo, which only made Liying angrier.
"Next time tie up your wife, she's going to go wild again" Gu Wei whispered. "I can give you some rope if you want. I have plenty at home." Eros chuckled and immediately stood up. "Not here, Liying. There are too many people. Don't make me say something you'll regret," he warned, which somewhat calmed Liying. "Is he talking about divorce?" she wondered. She glanced at Gu Wei, who wasn't looking at them. "I'll be quiet if you make him leave your side," she demanded angrily.
Gu Wei stood up. "I'm not difficult to talk to," he said, about to walk away, but Yibo grabbed his hand. "I invited you here, so where I am, you stay," he said firmly, making Gu Wei smile while Liying seethed with anger but restrained herself.
Mr. Wang, do you want your wife to cause a scene here like an escaped zoo animal? There are so many people watching, and I don't like the attention" Gu Wei said. "Just go back to your seat," Yibo ordered.
"Wang Yibo!"
The person next to them spoke. "Why don't you sit in our seats? The event is about to start, and you're causing a disturbance" Jiyang, who had been listening with Haoxuan, suggested. "Yes, there's space behind you, so we'll move there," Haoxuan added, glancing at Gu Wei, who nodded in agreement.
"At least some people have common sense, unlike others," Liying remarked, sitting beside Yibo. The seating arrangement was now Gu Wei on the right, Yibo in the middle, and Liying on the left. "Are you okay?" Yibo asked Gu Wei. Gu Wei glanced at Liying, who was looking at him. "I'm fine, just uncomfortable with the attention we're getting," he whispered, loud enough for Liying to hear. Yibo glared at Liying before looking back at Gu Wei. "I'm sorry this always happens when you're with me," Yibo said apologetically.
"Why are you apologizing? He deserves it for being with a married man" Liying interjected.
"If you don't want me to throw you out, shut your mouth. You've already embarrassed me enough," Yibo snapped. Gu Wei rubbed his head, which Yibo noticed. "Are you in pain?" he asked, concerned. "No, I'm just thirsty," Gu Wei replied, and out of the corner of his eye, he saw how furious Liying was. He smiled to himself. "If only I had known that you had feelings for Yibo, I would understand your anger whenever we're together. Now, I'll show you how I gradually take away the man you're obsessed with," Gu Wei thought.
Yibo called a staff member to bring water. When the staff handed it to them, Yibo opened it for Gu Wei, which reminded Liying of the time she forced herself on a date with Eros and Ebisu, where Eros took care of Ebisu just like this. She suddenly felt a surge of fear—what if one day she wakes up and Yibo is no longer with er, that Gu Wei will finally get him? "I won't let Yibo go. I'll kill anyone who comes between us" Liying thought while glaring at Eros and Gu Wei.
"Hon, you might be forgetting that we're in public and people know we're married. We could end up on social media," Liying said.
"Since you know that, you shouldn't have come here or sat next to us," Yibo whispered to her. Before they could argue further, the auctioneer spoke, presenting the first item.
The first item was an artwork by a famous artist, followed by a necklace with a teardrop pendant. Gu Wei's eyes widened. "Oh my gosh," he whispered. Yibo glanced at him and followed his gaze. "Do you want it?" Yibo whispered to Gu Wei, who nodded in response.
The necklace was called the "Soul of Teardrop."
"Let's start the bidding at $500,000."
Yibo: "$700,000."
Haoxuan: "$800,000."
Liying looked at Yibo. "Who is that for?" she asked.
Yibo: "$1 million."
Gu Wei: "$1.5 million."
Liying: "$1.7 million," she said, glaring at Yibo.
Yibo: "$2 million."
Gu Wei: "$2.3 million."
Liying: "$2.5 million."
Yibo: "$3 million."
Gu Wei: "$10 million."
Yibo: "$20 million."
Yibo ultimately won the Soul of Teardrop necklace. A part of Liying hoped Eros would give it to her, so she grabbed his hand. "You didn't need to buy something so expensive for me," she said loudly enough for Gu Wei to hear. Gu Wei chuckled.
"Okay, let's proceed to the artwork on my other side. I know many of you are familiar with this artist or are fans. This is the first artwork by YaZ."
Liying's eyes widened. She had been a longtime fan of this artist and never missed an exhibition. She also collected YaZ's artworks.
"Oh my gosh! This is the one I've always wanted to buy, but it was never for sale," she exclaimed. Yibo frowned. "I feel like I've seen this artwork before, but I can't remember where," Yibo thought.
"Start bidding at $12 million."
Liying: "$15 million."
Gu Wei: "$20 million."
Liying: "$30 million."
Yibo looked at Liying. "I want that artwork," she said.
Gu Wei: "$60 million."
Yibo glanced at Gu Wei. "What's going on?" he wondered. Gu Wei just smiled.
Liying: "$100 million."
Gu Wei: "$500 million."
Yibo alternated his gaze between the two people beside him. "I'm not surprised if my neck hurts after this," he muttered.
Liying: "$800 million."
Gu Wei: "$1 billion."
Liying glared at Gu Wei. "Bitch! $1.5 billion."
Gu Wei: "$2 billion."
Haoxuan laughed from the back, catching everyone's attention. "Don't mind me, just continue," he said, giving Gu Wei a meaningful look.
"I don't have that much money right now, but I won't lose to him. Losing here would mean losing Yibo too," Liying thought.
"Going once?" the auctioneer asked.
Liying: "$2.3 billion."
Gu Wei: "$3 billion."
Liying: "Bitch! $3.3 billion."
Gu Wei: "$3.5 billion."
Liying: "$4 billion."
Auctioneer: "Going once, going twice Sold"
Liying smirked at Gu Wei, who gave her his sweetest smile. "Thank you," he mouthed. Liying looked at him, puzzled. "Do you have that much money?" Yibo whispered, knowing that despite Liying having her own company, their sales had been declining.
