PART 27
17:55, 6 February 2026The auctioneer announced that the artist was present and had agreed to personally hand over the art to the winning bidder, which delighted Liying. "At last, I will have the chance to see him in person, and the happiest moment will be when he hands me the first art piece he ever made" Liying thought, also instructing Yibo to take a video of them later.
"Hasn't he always remained anonymous?"
"Yes, they say he lives abroad."
"We're so lucky to get a chance to see him."
The crowd buzzed with curiosity about the artist whose work was so famous, yet all exhibitions and meetings with buyers were handled by his assistant.
Liying proudly looked at Gu Wei as her number was called. She walked to the front as if she were the muse of the evening.
"Why do you like that art so much?" Eros asked Gu Wei, who was watching Liying. "It's relaxing to look at" Gu Wei replied succinctly. Yibo suddenly remembered a painting displayed at Gu Wei's house and looked towards the front where the painting was displayed. "That's why it seemed familiar," Yibo thought. He was about to ask Gu Wei about it, but was interrupted when the auctioneer asked liying.
"How do you feel about receiving that artwork?" the auctioneer asked. Liying couldn't speak, trembling with joy and not knowing how to express it. "I'm his biggest fan," she finally managed to say.
"We are happy to hear that," the auctioneer responded, then introduced the artist when the auctioneer called Gu Wei's name, Liying's eyes widen.
"Let's welcome Mr. Gu Wei, also known as YaZ, the renowned artist. We're honored to have you as our guest."
Gu Wei walked elegantly to the front. Liying turned red with anger. All these years, the artist she admired and whose paintings, art she collected was the very man who was threatening to destroy her family and worse, he bore a striking resemblance to the brother she despised.
As Gu Wei approached, he calmly said, "Oh, so you're a fan. If I had known, I would have just given this to you for free instead of you having to spend so much money. After all, you are the wife of my fiance's cousin" Liying, shocked and feeling betrayed by the world, couldn't react immediately. She wondered why Gu Wei, the owner, had bid against her, making her look foolish. They called out to Liying, but she remained unresponsive, as if lost in deep thought.
"Let's give her some time to collect her thoughts. Maybe she just can't believe that I'm standing right in front of her," Gu Wei said with a smile.
Liying's hands trembled as she looked at Gu Wei and the people in front of them. At that moment, she wanted nothing more than to kill the man standing before her.
Gu Wei thought with a grin. "How would you feel if you found out that the art you bought for 4 billion is Yibo and I holding hands with A-yuan? You might not be able to control your anger and lose your cool,"
While Yibo and Gu Wei were in the car, Gu Wei said, "You should have stayed with her." Yibo had offered to drive Gu Wei home since they came together, but Gu Wei noticed they were taking a different route. "Where are you taking me?" Gu Wei asked, looking at the road. If he wasn't mistaken, this was the way to the house Yibo had built for them. Yibo didn't respond and kept driving.
After several minutes of silence, Yibo suddenly asked. "Did you know from the start what would happen earlier?" Gu Wei looked at him. "What do you mean?" Gu Wei asked, puzzled. "Did you know from the beginning that they would introduce you and display your art?" Yibo asked.
Gu Wei replied. "It's good that you finally know how to ask questions before judging," causing Yibo to pause. "What did you say? Why do I feel like you're implying that I've failed to listen to you before?" Yibo said. "Just a little more proof, and I'll be sure you're Ebisu," Yibo thought. Gu Wei didn't speak and smiled as he remembered the scene earlier.
Flashback.
Despite trying to control herself, Liying struggled to contain her anger. She was about to tear the art apart when Gu Wei whispered to her. "My Dear. You told everyone here how much you idolize me. If you make a scene, they'll say you went crazy with excitement upon meeting me. Imagine the headlines: 'Liying Xiao, CEO of Lyiandro Company, Goes Mad After Meeting His Idol artist YaZ, Also Known as Gu Wei." He pretended to cough. Liying's face was almost unrecognizable from anger, and in her mind, she was already killing Gu Wei.
"Okay, Ms. Xiao..." began the auctioneer, but Liying interrupted him before he could finish. "Mrs. Wang!" she said firmly. "But Ms. Xiao is what's written here" the auctioneer replied. Liying shot him a glare. "I don't care" she retorted, about to leave the stage when Gu Wei grabbed her arm.
"They want us to take a picture together so you can have a keepsake with your idol" Gu Wei said, barely suppressing a laugh.Liying glanced at the audience, including Yibo, who was ready to take the video as per her instructions.
"Shiiiit!" Liying muttered, forcing a smile. "Oh sweetheart, your smile is too fake; you'll look ridiculous in the picture next to me" Gu Wei teased, glancing at Yibo and winking. Yibo, puzzled, smiled back at him. Liying mustered her sweetest smile. "You b@tch!" She muttered. "Your husband is handsome" Gu Wei whispered, causing Liying's brow to furrow. In the end, every shot of Liying showed her either angry, frowning, grimacing, or glaring at Gu Wei.
Before they finished taking pictures, she walked out, knowing that if she stayed any longer, she might do something she would regret.
End of Flashback
Suddenly, Gu Wei laughed, causing Yibo to look at him. Gu Wei immediately noticed Yibo's gaze. "What if I knew from the start that they would display my art? Would you be angry?" Gu Wei asked, turning his gaze back outside. Yibo didn't say anything but held Gu Wei's hand. "This time, I won't side with anyone else but you," Yibo thought. Gu Wei pulled his hand away. "We're here," he said, about to unbuckle his seatbelt, but Yibo reached over to do it first.
In the end, their faces were incredibly close to each other. They just stared at each other, neither one intending to speak or even blink.
