Alternative Ending

11:13, 2 April 2018

I was talking to a friend of mine and a follower of this story and she suggested writing an alternate ending. And so I did.

If you are not into sad endings, I guess this might not be for you. Really sorry.-----You’re sitting on wet concrete steps facing the lake as you absorbed as you absorbed the rain water falling unto you. A heavy sigh escaped you as you watch the rain fall heavily on the lake. Even if you have sat there for an entire hour, the confusion and fear never left. You breathed out heavily and gazed at the dancing lights from the skyscrapers surrounding the lake. It was so peaceful. You just wish that things would be as peaceful in your life as well. You were still deep in your thoughts when you suddenly felt the rain water stop hitting your body. With a confused expression, you looked up and saw an umbrella already shielding you from the harsh tapping of the rain. You then looked at the person who was holding the umbrella for you. You were surprised to see Jin towering over you. You immediately stood up and faced him.

“W-what? How did you know I was here?” You confusedly asked Jin who continued to gaze at you. You were about to step back from him, but Jin held your hand preventing you to do so. And for the first time after you guys have argued, you didn’t resist his touch and just let him hold your hand. You gazed into his face and you can see both worry and fear.

“(Y/N), please don’t walk away from me. Don’t say anything. Just please listen to me.” He said and you just looked at him, waiting for what he has to say. He looked down at his feet for a moment, trying to gather the courage to continue on.

“I was a fool. A big fool who was afraid of facing his true feelings and scared to take the risk. In the end, I hurt you and pushed you far away from me making you loathe just the very sight of me when deep in my heart all I wanted to do is keep you by my side and stay with me.” You looked down on your feet. Something painful pinched your heart as you heard his words. You wanted so badly to believe him, but something inside you told you otherwise. You breathed heavily before looking back into him.

“But the kind of pain you gave me seems to not and will probably never heal. It hunts me like a bad dream, Jin. And every time I see you, it reminds me on how much you pushed me away.” You cried to Jin and your tears seem to never end.

“I don’t know, Jin. I’m so torn right now.” You cried as you avoid his gaze. He held onto your hand a little tighter. He fears that if he doesn’t, he will lose you. He let go of the umbrella that was shielding you both from the rain. He can already sense that you are on the verge of waving the white flag and would just walk away.

“Just tell me how I can walk away from loving you. And believe me, I would do it.” Jin cried as he held your hands tightly.

“Do what you did before, Jin. Hate me. Loathe me. Think of me as a faceless stranger. Just forget that I was once a part of your life.” You cried.

“I can’t do that, (Y/N).” Jin groaned.

“And why not?” You exhaled.

“Because…” He exhaled. “I cannot treat you as a stranger on the street because you are everything I see. I cannot forget that you are part of my life because you are my life and without you, my world would stop and I’d go insane and I cannot loathe and hate the person that I’m crazily in love with.” You cried even more with the words you have heard. Jin moved in closer to you and engulfed you in a hug. This time, you did not fight back. You just let his warm body shield you from feeling cold.

“I have hurt you so badly to the verge of loathing me, but please (Y/N), give me a chance and let me heal you. Will you trust me? I promise this time that if you fall, I will catch you. Let me prove to you how much I love you.”You stepped away from Jin’s embrace and looked at him deep into the eyes. Your face still stricken with tears and rainwater.

“I-I’m sorry, Jin.” You gently said to him and slowly let go of his hands. “Those were the words that I dreamt of hearing from you before, but…” You weren’t able to finish your sentence when Jin cut you off.

“Of course there’s a ‘BUT.’” He said in frustration as tears continued to flow. He collapsed on the concrete steps, disheartened. You slowly knelt down in front of him.

“Jin, please listen.” You gently place your hands on his face. He placed a hand over yours, feeling the warmth that is radiating to his skin.

“That is so sweet, but I’m not ready to accept your heart right now because I’m too broken to receive it. I’m afraid I might break it. I might break you.” You sobbed.

“No, we will try to work on it. I will work on it. I will make sure to mend what I have broken. We will make it through, just don’t leave. I need you in my life.” He grieved as he held your hand, not wanting to let go. He peppered it with kisses as he pleaded you to stay. You can’t help but break down further. You know how it feels to have your heart broken ad it pains you to see Jin in this state, but you fear that both of you might hurt each other more if things do go well along the way.

“I’m really sorry, Jin. Believe me, this will be the best for the both of us.” You said as you tried to break free from his grasp.

“No. No. NO! Please, (Y/N). I’m afraid that once you leave me, you will never come back.” He cried.

“Jin, look at me.” You said as you cupped his face between your hands and make him look at your tears streaked face.

“Don’t ever think that just because we’re apart we will forget each other. We have created too many fond memories for that to happen. You are an important part of my life. That will not change.” You slowly inched your lips towards Jin’s. It was sweet, yet painful. It will probably be your last kiss from him. You broke away slowly and looked at his face. His eyes still closed savoring the last few seconds you had with him. The moment he realized that your lips are no longer near his, he slowly opened his eyes.

“Goodbye, Jin.” You whispered and placed another kiss this time on his forehead. You abruptly stood up and walked away from Jin who is still situated on the concrete steps, soaking on the rain. Despite the heavy downpour, you could still hear his sobs grow faintly as you walk farther away from him. You didn’t bother looking back as it will just shatter your heart seeing him in that situation. You are thankful that the heavy downfall conceals the endless tears that escape your eyes as you leave behind the only person that you love the most.--------------------Hope you like this official chapter.
