Chapter 20

23:06, 28 November 2022

"Ne..

 N..san..

.. Nee-san!"

"Yes!" She shook her head, "ehem.. yes I'm here!"

"Isn't that my line?" They both jumped at the third voice that joined them. Keira turned raising an eyebrow. "Not anymore big guy."

His grin, suit, and muscl— She looked up humming the thoughts away before looking at his words, "I thought you left your villain ways Keira."

He said walking towards the boy and carrying him over one shoulder. Tenko's eyes sparkled, a small smile on his face.

"I have no idea what you're talking about." She innocently smiled her mind totally not going back to when she snuck in to meet him the first time ever. His grin turned a bit smug before he turned to Tenko and talked with him. The corner of her lips went up at the sight.

They were talking and laughing before Tenko turned to her and--Hmm?

Her head tilted a bit as she looked back at him.

Why was he.. looking at her like that? His smile fell and accusing words fell out.

"Why did you leave me nee-san?"

She gasped her eyes flying open. Her breath came out in harsh pants. Where was she? What happened?

For a second there was nothing except the sound of her sharp gasps. Then it all flowed back.

"Quirks are so easy to manipulate~ if you think about it Shane Keira, you can make anyone a villain." He sneered and everything went to chaos.

"Te..nko! Al..l mi..ght!" She went to get up and found the action terribly hard. "Ugh.. Ten..ko.. an..y..bo..dy.." she finally sat up after struggling a bit. Her eyes darted around. Part of her seeing the room she was in, the other slowly recollecting the horrible events that went down.

"Nee-san!" "Keira! Snap out of it!"

Tenko's tears.. All might's shout.

Her hands covered her face. What had she done? Horror filled her. Her quirk.. had went out of control. She pulled her hands away from her face feeling them wet. She stared at her hands that tears kept falling to.

What have I done? What have I done?

Sobs racked her body as the dam broke and everything inside fell out.

He sat down letting out a sigh, his form deflating with a cough. Finally a break..

Young Midoriya passed the exam. He should receive his acceptance letter any day now. He looked up at the ceiling remembering the last couple of months. It was time.. His eyes softened to a somber look. Hopefully, his successor would reach more people and save them. The next symbol of peace.. The image of the green haired boy flashed in the front of his mind for a second before disappearing as he let out another sigh.

He was doing this a lot these days.. sighing.

She wiped her tears, her hands shaking. Her eyes darted outside the window where the sun was shining on Musutafu. Or is it Tokyo? She slowly moved her legs. They barely moved. In fact every part of her body was so hard to move. She felt her teeth gritting in frustration.

She saw a button to call the nurse in the corner of her eye. Her hand slowly twitched before moving a bit. Every movement felt a bit excoriating as she reached ever so slowly to the button. She was so close-- The door opened, a nurse coming in with a clipboard in hand and the most bored look on her face. That look changed when she saw Keira staring at her.

"You're awake!" The nurse sounded so surprised that it made dread fill Keira with a horrible question.

How long was she asleep?

She opened her mouth to say something but could only make a rasping sound as she realized how parched her throat felt. "Whe.. I.. a.."

The nurse checked up on everything Keira was hooked on before telling Keira she was going to call the doctor.

A few minutes later, the door opened and a man came in with the nurse following. After checking her vitals and doing a lot of check ups, he finally sat down. Keira had been given a glass of water and she could slightly move better.

"You have been a coma for a long while now Shane-san." That was the first sentence. "Normally we don't keep patients for that long and the chance of you waking up was less than 3%. Your condition and main organs have been stable. We couldn't find anything wrong. However, your quirk is the only thing that had been acting up. It is the reason why you've been in a coma for so long."

Her memories weren't all there but she got the gist. She got the gist alright.. Her eyes shut, her hand coming to her head slowly and covering her face as she tried to get her breathing in order.

"H..ow.. lon..g.. was I.. sle..epin..g?" She choked out the words. The doctor seemed hesitant before he said it.

"18 years."

***

Yagi Toshinori had a routine for a while now. He had moved to Musutafu to teach in UA. Now that he had shortened hero time, he had time for other stuff. Wake up, morning run, saving people, UA, and then another walk, and then contemplating why he was still alive, before saving more people and going home.

That routine was changed a bit when he found Midoriya Izuku.

He leaned back in his office chair at UA sighing. An itch made his hand go to his side where the sign of the end of his hero days and the last thing from..

A few seconds later the itch stopped. He turned back to his laptop.

18 years. 18 years? 18 years?!

She focused on taking deep breaths. The panic attack from a while had passed but her mind still repeated the same two words. She was facing the ceiling, her breath turning erratic before calming before going again erratic. Keira could feel it. She was on the brink of another panic attack. She could barely move.

No wonder.. I've been asleep for.. She closed her eyes, her hands going slowly on them as a memory came to mind.

"Did you?" he looked at her confused, "..come to TDL before?" he shook his head a dark look going on his face and she cursed herself at bringing up probably bad memories.

"Ne Tencchan.." his eyes went to her again and she felt his look much more somber than before, "Let's make lots of lovely memories okay?" his eyes widened and she almost glimpsed tears well up. She held up her pinky with a grin, "C'mon!" he blinked once twice before a smaller pinky linked with hers.

"From now on, no matter how the past is, we'll make the happiest memories. Pinky Promise~!" this time, she saw the tears glistening in the dark as his pinky tightened around hers and he nodded with the most emotion she had seen till now,

"Mhmm!"

"No.. why?"

Tears streamed down more.

Why why why why why why?!

Her brain couldn't comprehend how they reached this moment.

It's only fair after all. You took something that is supposed to be mine and now I'll be taking it back.

Of course, he had to pop out. She disrupted the plans of the villain mastermind in this world. Her teeth gritted, angry desperate tears still flowing, How could I be so carefree?!

She had went out and cared for the kid and forgot this was all a freaking anime!

I should be going home. Now that Tenko and All might are not here and everybody is in the beginning of the story, that's enough playing.. hero.

I've let you play the hero role for a while now..

The words made her nauseated even more.

Bastard bastard bastard!  Her hands shook, fisted over her wet face. Her chest ached feeling empty, something missing. She felt anger flooding her and trying to fill the gap.

This is my fault. My mistake! I really was dumb from the first second. Tears went down.

This was enough.

She did what she could before breaking it all down with her own hands.

The message was clear. It was foolish to try and change a story bound to happen.

She should've tried harder to go home rather than have a family with the number one hero and a child destined for villainy--

She froze, his image materializing in the front of her mind. He was looking at her. His eyes were scared and he was looking at her questioning. His eyes that she could almost see as if they were in front of her, broke her false anger and she admitted it.

--and a child destined for villainy--

The last thought hurt. She didn't mean it, but..

It really hurt..

More sobs went out.

She closed her eyes sniffs coming out of her, apologizing to Tenko in her head over and over and forced herself to sleep.

Maybe the next time she wakes up, this would all be a nightmare.
