CHAPTER 20

When Magnus returned with Asmodeus, Simon, Helen, Jace and Clary have all arrived.

“Magnus…good to see you after a long time” Jace said hugging Magnus.

“Good to see you too Jace” Magnus said and looked at Izzy to know if she had told him about Robert and Izzy shook her head to say no.

“Good to see you Magnus” Clary also hugged him. 

“You too” Magnus said hugging her back.

“Guys meet my dad, Asmodeus Bane” Magnus said introducing his dad and then everyone shook hands with him and were sitting in the living room chatting.

“Alexander?” Magnus said walking into the room and saw Alec in the corner of the room sitting on the floor.

“Mags you are back?” he asked.

“Baby…what is it?” Magnus asked kneeling next to Alec.

“I don’t know what I’m feeling right now Mags…” he said.

“Hey it’s okay…” Magnus said hugging Alec. “Let’s not think about it too much…I talked with dad, and he told me that he will help us to find what he’s up to…”

Alec nodded.

“Baby now stop crying okay?” Magnus said wiping Alec’s tears. “Everyone’s here…let’s go enjoy okay…” Magnus said helping Alec up.

Alec nodded and went to wash his face. 

“Now put on your beautiful smile for me” Magnus said touching Alec’s cheeks.

Alec smiled but Magnus knew that it was completely fake smile. Magnus smiled back and locked their arms together and walked to the living room.

After sometime Alec forgot about his concern about Robert and was having fun with his siblings and friends. 

“Guys…I’ll quickly go to the supermarket and come back quickly…” Magnus said seeing that they didn’t have ice cream at home. 

He quickly put on his jacket and walked to the supermarket which was about 500m away from their house. Magnus was very attentive to everyone’s taste so he bought different flavours and went to the check out.

He knew that the man in front of him in the queue looked familiar but he couldn’t pinpoint to who it was. Then he suddenly remembered and took out his phone to check the screen shot he took of Robert. And he was shocked. It was Robert, Alec’s father.

Magnus was now billing his things and Robert was walking away…he had mixed feelings whether to follow him or not. But when he straightened up his thoughts Robert had already disappeared. 

Huh…I should have followed him… Magnus thought and sighed.

Regretting not being able to find Robert he walked back home. And he was shocked once more to see Robert standing in front of their door with a bag full of chips and chocolates.

Magnus didn’t think twice he quickly went to him and called out “Robert!”

He turned with surprise in his eyes. “Do you know me?”

“Uhm…not exactly but uh…I…can we talk for a moment” Magnus asked with hesitation.

To his surprise Robert nodded. Magnus smiled and sent a text to Alec.

‘Baby, something urgent came up at work…I kept the ice creams and some chip in front of the door come and get them…I need to run…don’t worry nothing serious’

Magnus walked to the coffee shop which was opposite to their house with Robert.

“Uhm...” Magnus just sat without knowing what to say.

“Do you know who I am?” Robert asked after a few seconds.

Magnus nodded.

“I thought you would…because the other day you were there with Alec. Are you his friend?”

“I…uh…I’m uh…” Magnus stuttered.

 “You must be…so what do you want to talk about?” Robert asked.

Okay Magnus you got this…don’t stutter, speak confidently…you can do this…Magnus thought and took a deep breath.

“First of all Robert, I’m not Alec’s friend” he said and Robert looked at him confused “I’m Alec’s fiancé” he said and waited for Robert reaction.

His reaction was in between being shocked and confused but he didn’t say anything.

“I know how things were between you and your family…and your recent appearance has affected Alec in a very bad way…I need to know why you are here…” Magnus said with confidence.
