Lucy had been paranoid all night. Would Scott tell Stiles? Did she even have a crush on the buzz-cut boy? Okay, so she might've already known the answer to the second question. And the first, considering that Scott had said he wouldn't tell Stiles. But he hadn't promised he wouldn't, which worried her.

She sat in the middle of class with Scott, her nerves eating her alive as she watched Stiles run to the desk in front of her.

"Dude, I just talked to my dad, who just talked to Jackson, and I've got really terrible, horrible, very, very bad news." He whispered as he sat down.

"I think I already know." Scott deadpanned, watching Isaac take his seat. Lucy took her eyes off Stiles to follow her brother's line of sight.

"How did he get out?" Lucy asked, leaning forward on her desk as Jackson took the seat next to her and behind Scott. Her brother and close friend didn't have a chance to answer before the lacrosse co-captain sneered at them.

"Hey, testicle left and right. What the hell is a Kanima?"

Lucy's eyes widened as the boys nearly fell off their chairs in shock. How did he know about the creature?

"All right, listen up. A quick warning before we begin our review. Some of you, like McCall, might want to start their own study groups, because tomorrow's midterm is so profoundly difficult- I'm not even too sure I could pass it." Coach Finstock announced, gesturing to Scott who tore his eyes away from Jackson. "Okay, I need a volunteer at the board to answer the first question."

"Paralyzed from the neck down. Do you have any idea what that feels like?" Jackson spat at them, leaning over his desk.

"I'm familiar with the sensation." Stiles nodded, causing Lucy to give him a tight smile.

"Wait... why would Derek test you?" Scott asked, pulling his brows together. "Why would he think that it's you?"

"How should I know?"

"Wait, do they think it's Lydia or Lucy?" Stiles asked, sitting up in his seat.

Jackson glanced at Lucy, making eye contact with the brunette. "I don't know, all I heard was their names and something about Chemistry." He filled them in; his voice raised with annoyance.

"Jackson!" Coach yelled, standing in front of his desk. "Do you have something you want to share with the rest of the class?"

Jackson's breath got caught in his throat as he fumbled for an excuse. "Um- just an undying admiration for my coach."

"That's really kind of you." Coach smiled. "Now shut up!"

"How do we know it's not her?" Scott asked, turning in his seat to face Lucy and Stiles again.

"Because I looked into the eyes of that thing, okay? And what I saw was pure evil." Stiles sighed, rubbing his face. "And when I look into Lydia's eyes, I only see 50% evil." Lucy scoffed, leaning back in her seat with her arms crossed. "All right, maybe 60. You know, but no more than 40 on a good day. And Lucy's only like 20%!"

Lucy rubbed her arms. She wasn't killing people in the middle of the night. She had been having a hard time falling asleep thanks to all her worries and fears.

"Stiles, that's not a very good argument."

"I swear it's not them. It can't be, all right? They're fine." Stiles reassured, gesturing to Lucy for proof before turning to the front of the classroom. His eyes widened as he started at a sobbing strawberry blonde girl. Whatever Lydia had written over the board was unreadable. Concerned for her friend, Lucy jumped out of her seat and guided Lydia back to her seat. "Okay then, anybody else want to try answering? This time in English?"

"Are you okay?" Lucy whispered, kneeling next to her seat.

"I'm fine." Lydia sniffled, dismissing her friend with a wave. Lucy smiled sadly, squeezing Lydia's shoulder in comfort before walking back to her seat.

"So, what weird thing has happened to you?" Stiles asked, turning around to face her as she sat down.

Lucy furrowed her eyebrows. "Nothing."

"Nothing? Seriously? No weird daydreams or regular dreams or weird thoughts or feelings or urges-" Stiles scrambled for an answer. Lucy's heart skipped a beat in dread as she remembered the dream she had just a few months ago. She could lie or she could be honest just in case she is the Kanima. As much as Lucy hoped it wasn't true, not to mention she had the dream before she had been bit, she needed to be honest.

"I did have a weird dream, but it was months ago. Before I was attacked." Lucy whispered.

"It's probably nothing then." Scott shrugged. "Maybe it is Lydia."

"Because she wrote something weird on the board? She takes Latin, maybe it's something she learned in class?"

Stiles frowned, shaking his head as he showed her a picture of the board on his phone. He reversed the image, revealing Lydia's message.

'SOMEONEHELPME'

As the trio walked into Chemistry, they discussed the information Jackson had given them. "Derek is not gonna kill her without proof." Scott sighed, eyeing the lab tables.

"All right, so he tests her like he did with Jackson, right? But when and where? And when is he going to test Lucy?" Stiles asked, looking for Lydia. She sat at the front of the classroom, rooting through her bag.

Lucy glanced over her shoulder, her blood running cold as she made eye contact with Isaac and Erica. The blonde smirked as the two walked by, determination in their step. "I think here and now."

Noticing the spare seat next to Lydia, Lucy rushed towards it, landing beside her as Isaac and Erica were forced to sit behind the girls. Scott and Stiles cautiously took the seats at the table next to the girls, keeping their eyes on the werewolves behind them.

"Einstein once said, 'two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity. And I'm not sure about the universe.' I myself have encountered infinite stupidity." Mr. Harris deadpanned, moving behind Stiles and patting his shoulder. Lucy bit back a smile as Stiles screwed his eyes shut in embarrassment. "So, to combat the plague of ignorance in my class, you're going to combine efforts through a round of group experiments. Let's see if two heads are indeed better than one. Or in Mr. Stilinski's case, less than one." Stiles opened and closed his mouth, attempting to come up with a sarcastic comment only to come up empty-handed. "Erica, you take the first station. You'll start with-" Stopping in the middle of his sentence, Mr. Harris cringed at the numerous hands in the air. "I didn't ask for volunteers. Put your hormonal little hands down. Start with Mr. McCall. All right, next two."

Lydia ended up paired with Allison, the two sitting directly behind Scott and Erica. Thankfully, Lucy had been paired with Stiles. On the downside, Isaac was in front of them.

After what felt like only two minutes, Mr. Harris rung the bell on his desk. "Switch."

After multiple rounds, Lucy found herself at a table with Isaac while Lydia was with Erica. Due to her nerves, Lucy kept her eyes on her lap as Isaac completed the experiment for the two. After Mr. Harris announced the crystal was edible, Isaac turned to face Lucy.

"You can have it." He held it out to her, a small smile on his face.

Knowing better than to trust him with anything right now, Lucy shook her head. "No, that's okay."

"I insist." Isaac continued. "I'd rather not ingest a crystal; I prefer to just look at them."

Lucy's face contorted into one of confusion. Why was he being so nice to her? She glanced back to Stiles and Scott, who had become partners. Both boys just stared at her with a gulp. Lucy looked behind her, at Lydia, who licked her fingers after eating the crystal. Deciding that it must be safe, since Lydia had eaten it with no problems, Lucy carefully took it from Isaac's hand and stared at it.

"I'm not going to hurt you." Isaac smiled. "I'm not evil."

"I never said you were."

"So, it's Derek you don't trust?"

Lucy nodded. "Not right now, anyways." Taking a deep breath, she put the crystal in her mouth and chewed. It had an odd aftertaste, but other than that, it was fine. She was fine. "Nothing's happening." She whispered, looking back at the boys.

Scott and Stiles could only stare at her in shock.

Lucy's heart dropped as she turned back to Isaac. "What was in it?"

"Kanima venom." Isaac shrugged his shoulders like it was nothing, but he never looked away from her eyes. "And you're just fine."

Lucy's heart sped up. Stiles and Scott had known he had poisoned it; she could tell from their reaction. And they had given her no warning, because they wanted to see. Their curiosity was about to get her killed.

"Maybe I'm just immune?" Lucy rushed out. "I mean, it can't be me. I haven't been sleeping well; I've been staying up late. I would know if I was the Kanima."

Isaac tilted his head. "You could be lying to me right now."

"But I'm not!" Lucy protested.

Isaac's voice turned cold. "Then you're lying to yourself."

After Chemistry, Lucy had run from the room, ignoring her friends and their protests. She found herself with Lydia in the library, studying peacefully until Jackson, Allison, and Stiles pulled them out.

"If we're doing a study group, why didn't we just stay in the library?" Lydia asked, confused with the amount of people forcing her to leave the school. Lucy on the other hand, had a fairly good idea as to why they were leaving. The only reason she didn't fight back was because she didn't want to die.

"Because we're meeting up with somebody else." Stiles improvised.

"Hmm, well, why don't they just meet us in the library?" Lydia asked, resisting the force of hands on her back.

"Lydia, shut up and walk." Jackson snapped, grabbing his ex by her upper arm and practically dragging her out the doors. Stiles, who had a tight grip on Lucy's wrist, pulled her along as Allison checked for any wandering eyes.

Lucy, Lydia, and Jackson all climbed into the backseat of Stiles' jeep. Allison climbed into the passenger seat as Stiles started the vehicle. Despite Lydia's protests, Stiles drove at a high speed all the way to the McCall house.

"Is Scott coming?" Lucy asked as she unlocked her front door, letting everyone clamber inside.

"He's meeting us here, I think. I hope." Stiles muttered, deep in thought. He quickly turned all of the locks on the front door, struggling with one of the stiff ones. Once he finally got it, he turned to face a concerned Lydia. "Uh, there's been a few break-ins around the neighborhood." Pulling a chair under the door handle, he finally looked satisfied. "And a murder. Yeah, it was bad."

Jackson sucked in a breath and turned towards Lydia. "Lydia, follow me. I need to talk to you for a minute."

The strawberry blonde nodded, following Jackson up the staircase.

As Lucy paced back in forth in front of her doorway, hours went by as the sun set and the moon rose. Stiles and Allison peaked out the curtains at the street in front of the house.

"It's me," Allison spoke up when Scott finally answered his phone. "You need to get here now. Right now."

"They're here." Stiles whispered, catching the girls' attention.

"What are you doing?" Lucy whispered, watching as Allison typed another number into Stiles' phone.

"I think- I think I have to call my dad." She sniffed, holding her hand up to her mouth. Lucy's eyes widened, snatching the phone away.

"No, you can't! If he finds you here, you and Scott-" Lucy warned, worried for her brother's safety as well as her own.

"-I know. But what are we supposed to do?" She shrugged sadly. "They're not here to scare us, okay? They are here to kill you and Lydia."

Lucy took a shaky step back, panic rising. Hearing her friend say it made it seem so much more real.

"I got an idea," Stiles announced, his voice shaking. "Just shoot one of them."

"Are you crazy?" Lucy whimpered, hugging herself tightly as she sat down on the staircase.

"Probably, but we told Scott we could protect ourselves, so let's do it. Or at least give it a shot, right?"

"Okay." Allison agreed.

Lucy shook her head as her eyes watered. "I'm gonna die."

"Look, they don't think we're gonna fight, so if one of them gets hit, I guarantee they'll take off." Stiles continued. "So, just shoot one of them."

"Which one?" Allison asked, moving towards the window as she readied her bow.

"Derek. Yeah, shoot him. Preferably in the head."

"If Scott was able to catch an arrow, Derek definitely can," Allison reminded him.

"Then shoot a beta!" Lucy scoffed, throwing her hands in the air.

"Yeah, there's two betas. Just pick one." Stiles whispered.

"You mean one." Allison corrected.

"No, I mean two. Erica and Isaac." Stiles assured, looking out the window. "Where the hell is Isaac?"

That caught Lucy's attention. She stood up quickly, freezing when dread pooled in her stomach. She turned around slowly, gasping as she saw his silhouette. Before she could move, Isaac had thrown her into the wall. She landed on the ground with a grown as she heard Allison and Stiles fight back.

Sitting up as her head spun, she watched as Isaac tumbled into a table, knocking off the empty glasses from breakfast. Climbing to her feet, Allison bolted upstairs. As Isaac set his sights on Lucy, Stiles stepped in front of her as she stood up shakily. Before Isaac could charge at them, Scott rounded the corner.

"Stay the hell away from them!"

The front door swung open, and Derek's smirk was replaced with a frown as Erica and Isaac were thrown at his feet. Walking outside, Scott, Allison, Stiles, and Lucy stood across from them. Her brother stayed in front of her protectively.

"I think I'm finally getting why you keep refusing me, Scott." Derek spoke, moving forward. "You're not an Omega; you're already an Alpha of your own pack." Derek nodded to the humans on the porch. "But you know you can't beat me."

"I can hold you off until the cops get here." Scott challenged as sirens wailed in the distance.

A hiss came from the roof, taking all the attention away from Derek and his betas. The group stared as the Kanima crawled out from Scott's window. It screeched as it looked down at them. Lucy covered her mouth, her eyes watering as she stared at the creature. Lydia. The Kanima ran away, disappearing from their sight once again.

"Get them out of here," Derek ordered to Boyd, who moved towards the pair on the ground.

"Would someone please tell me what the hell is going on?" Lydia demanded as she stormed onto the porch. Lucy's eyes widened as she ran towards her friend and wrapped her arms tightly around her in relief.

"It's Jackson." Scott whispered.
