Lucy ran her fingers across the movie cases on the store shelf. For the first time in a while, her mother didn't have a late shift coming up. It landed on a day when Scott didn't have plans, so Lucy announced they were having a family movie night.

So here she was, trying to pick a good film for their upcoming family night.

The shop was silent as she looked through the shelves, but it didn't surprise her. The whole town had been silent since the curfew was put into place due to the mountain lion attacks.

Glancing at her phone, Lucy had exactly fifteen minutes to get home before curfew. She was pushing it, she knew that, but she wanted their family night to be perfect. She had even bought a wide selection of snacks and planned to cook a nice dinner for the three of them.

"Can somebody help me find The Notebook?" A familiar voice called out. Lucy stepped out into the open part of the store, causing Jackson to jump.

"Sorry. I haven't seen an employee yet, but the romance section is that way." She pointed towards the opposite side of the building.

"How are we supposed to pay for anything when no one is working?" Jackson grumbled, walking past her.

"Maybe they're in the back?" Lucy suggested, going back through the action movies. Her and Melissa's preference was romance, but she knew Scott would prefer something with more fighting, so she decided to compromise and do two movies.

"Lucy." Jackson's voice sounded almost empty, and she turned around quickly, seeing him standing next to an aisle.

"That's mystery. I said romance was to your right." She deadpanned, crossing her arms when the boy didn't turn around. When he didn't respond, a cold chill ran down her spine.

She slowly crept towards him, peaking over his shoulder to see what had caught his attention. Usually, the team captain was full of words, arrogant ones, but words nonetheless.

An older man was laying in the middle of the aisle, bleeding from multiple gashes in his neck. Lucy screamed, tripping over her feet as she stumbled backwards. She gasped when her back hit something cold, a ladder. It fell from the impact as the girl steadied herself, watching the ladder take wires out with it.

"Shit." Jackson mumbled as the electricity went out, leaving only a few lights flickering. He grabbed Lucy's arm, pulling her back. "Let's go."

The pair stopped when a low growl emitted from the back of the shop.

"What was that?" Lucy whispered. Jackson clapped a hand over her mouth, pulling her behind a shelf to shield their bodies from view. He leant out, checking to see where the creature was.

Lucy whimpered in fear as she heard cases of movies falling. Before she and Jackson could move, the cases created a domino effect and landed on top of them. They struggled to move, realizing they were trapped.

The creature, whatever it was, approached them from behind. Jackson's arm and the case covered Lucy completely, blocking her from view of the creature. She felt it climb on top of the case, reaching forward to grab the collar of Jackson's shirt. It growled again and from this close, Lucy had a sinking feeling that it wasn't a mountain lion.

Cops and paramedics surrounded Lucy and Jackson, as well as Lydia who had been in her car outside. Lucy shivered, her sweater doing little to nothing to cure her cold chills. Her eyes softened when she watched Stiles jump out of his father's car.

Jackson and Lydia were together, the boy yelling rudely at the officer trying to help them. Seeing the familiar brunette by herself, Stiles decided to run up to her.

"Are you okay? What happened?"

"I think I'm okay, but I'm not sure. Something attacked us." Lucy responded, the breeze blowing through her knotted hair. Stiles glanced around. After seeing that none of the cops were watching them, he leaned closer.

"Like a mountain lion? Or something else?"

"The cops said, before they called my mom, that it was just that mountain lion everyone is fussing about."

Stiles licked his bottom lip, raising an eyebrow. "Is that what you think it was?"

The memory of its growl sounded through her mind. She shook her head. "I don't know what it was, Stiles. But it was not a mountain lion."

"Hey! I told you to stay in the car!" Sheriff Stilinski shouted, seeing his son with the girl.

"Sorry! Friend of a friend, just checking up on her." Stiles responded. "You're not hurt, are you?"

"Just shaken up. We, Jackson and I, got stuck under a shelf. But it couldn't see me. Jackson's arm was over my head."

"It didn't hurt you?" Lucy shook her head. "Did it hurt Jackson?"

"It touched him. The back of his neck. But I don't think he's hurt. And Lydia was in her car, it didn't even see-"

"-Lydia? Hey, is she okay?" Stiles interrupted, running over to the strawberry blonde. Lucy sighed, pushing her baby hairs out of her face as the wind picked up again.

"-her." She finished her sentence, now standing alone. Her friend had also been pretty shaken up and wanted to stay with Jackson after she and Lucy checked on each other.

She decided to let the couple, and now Stiles, be. Lucy sat down on the cold pavement, the wind continuing to pick up, as she waited for her mom's car to pull into the parking lot.

"Why the hell can't I just go home? I'm fine." Jackson's loud voice reached her ears. She turned her head, letting it rest on her knees as she watched him continue to yell at the officer while Stiles stayed next to Lydia.

"I hear you, but the EMT says you hit your head pretty hard. They just wanna make sure you don't have a concussion-"

Unlike Jackson, Lucy had complied with the EMTs since she had also hit her head. It turned out she was fine, but they did suggest she take a day off school as a precaution and to rest.

"-what part of 'I'm fine' are you having a problem grasping? Okay, I wanna go home."

"And I understand that-"

"-No, you don't understand..." Jackson's words drifted away from Lucy's ears when her attention went to her mom's car, which had just pulled into the parking lot.

"Lucy? Lucy! Oh, there you are sweetie." Melissa jumped out of the car and ran up to her daughter, wrapping her arms around her tightly. She pulled back, resting her palms on the sides of Lucy's face. "Are you okay? What happened?"

"I'm okay, Mom. I promise. I just hit my head, but the EMT says I can go back to school in two days." Lucy made eye contact with Stiles, ignoring the gut feeling she had. "It was just a mountain lion."
