Chapter 6

00:41, 6 February 2019

Y/n POV:

The next morning, Ralph awoke us all because the twins were saying something about a beast in the sky.

'There was a beast-'

'It landed over on the mountain-'

'It's a beast-'

'Ok, quiet!' Ralph hushed the twins.

Jack looks to him, 'we could hunt it.'

'Hunt it?' Ralph questions, 'you're joking.'

'We could travel up there and kill it!' Jack says.

'You can't possibly kill it, god knows what it will do! Plus we shouldn't worry about it, we need to build shelters and watch the fire!'

'We need meat!'

'We need a civilized area to live. We don't even know if the beast is real.'

'Maybe there is a beast,' A voice said, causing everyone to fall quiet and look for he quiet and shy boy; Simon.

'What?' Some people say.

'Maybe there is a beast ... What I mean is ... maybe it's only us ...' Simon quietly speaks.

'He's crazy.'

'Batty.'

'What is he talking about?'

Simon puts his head down and walks off a little to avoid all the staring.

'Whatever, just make sure you're main priority is the fire, Jack,' Ralph tells my brother.

'I will, I will. But we will need to eventually hunt this beast down and kill it.'

'Jack-'

'I'll watch the fire, fucks sake ...' Jack mutters.

'You better.'

'Is that a threat?' Jack moves closer.

'It doesn't have to be if you keep the fire going,' Ralph also takes a step closer.

'Don't threaten me, I bet you can't even fight,' Jack smirks, taking advantage at his tall height and looking down to Ralph.

Ralph loses it and pushes Jack, who only pushes him back. Piggy breaks in to attempt to stop them arguing, only to get pushed down by Jack, causing laughter around.

'Right, I'm not going to be part of this! I'm making my own group! Anyone who wants to have some fun can join me!' Jack announces, earning cheers from the boys.

'This is stupid, Jack! There's no point in making a separate group!' Ralph tells Jack.

'Just shut the fuck up! I've made my choice, when all those brats get older they can join too!' Jack begins to walk away, he gestures at me to follow.

'Sorry, Ralph,' I shrug as I follow them. I hear footsteps behind me and see Percival. I pick him up and continue walking away.

'You're being irrational!' Piggy screams.

The hunters only make pig sounds at him and laugh and call him names. I almost laugh, what am I turning into?

Jack leads us to a place he calls 'castle rock'

'We don't need them! We can make our own group and be better!' Jack says, lifting a spear in the air.

'How will we make a fire?' I ask.

Everyone thinks for a moment.

'We could steal piggys glasses?' Maurice suggests.

'We'll do it at night, so we won't be seen.' Jack says. 'Until then, scatter around and whatever!'

'Hey,' someone says behind me.

I turn and see Roger, 'Roger.'

'That kid is pretty attached to you.'

'I suppose it's seeing any girl as a mother figure. You have to admit, he's adorable,' I smile at Percival.

Roger smiles a faint moment, 'I suppose so.'

'How's your head?' I ask him.

He chuckles darkly. He's psychotic, but intriguing, 'you won't leave it alone, will you?'

'I'm concerned for you,' I move a little closer, only about two inches.

'Nice to know you care,' He smirks.

'I do care.'

'Why?' Roger asks, it takes me back a little.

'Why wouldn't I?' I furrow my eyebrows.

Roger glances down a moment and shrugs.

'We should have guards standing around, just in case,' Jack says.

'I'll see you, Y/n,' Roger walks off.

'Yeah, bye.'

'You two are getting close,' A voice startles me from behind. I turn and see my brother, Jack.

'You almost gave me a heart attack,' I exaggerate.

Jack ignores me and continues, 'do you like him?'

'Who?'

'Don't play dumb. Roger. Do you like him?'

'I don't even know him,' I say, 'I've barely talked to him.'

'Doesn't stop anyone liking people, Y/n,' Jack tells me, 'just tell me if you like him or not.'

'I mean, he's attractive-'

'But do you like him?'

'A little,' I admit quietly, 'but, like I said, I barely know him.'

I look up and see Jack smiling at me.

'Stop smiling like the Cheshire cat, Jack. It's only a small crush, it'll probably pass in a few days.'
