Chapter 5

00:40, 6 February 2019

Y/n POV:

Ralph told me to wander around and look for non-poisonous berries to eat. The others were building shelters whilst the hunters were told to watch the fire. God knows where Simon is, apparently he keeps to himself.

I don't actually feel like picking them since I don't care. I can tell which are and which aren't poisonous, my dad taught me how to tell.

Suddenly, my back gets pushed into a tree with my arms pinned either side of me. I feel shocked and look at the guy who did it. Roger.

'Dangerous for a girl like you to be wandering around, no?' He purrs in my ear, 'something might happen to you, sweetheart.'

'And why would you care, Roger?' I look into his eyes, almost challenging him.

He smirks to the side, then looks back at me.

'Roger, don't be a dick about it and just ask her if she wants to help!' Jack emerges from the bushes.

I look back to Roger, who smirking at me, 'wanna help us hunt?'

'Seriously?' I ask.

'Yeah, you can join us if you'd like,' Jack states.

'Um, sure?' I say.

'Cool, grab a spear and come on,' Jack walks off.

Roger let's go of me and passes me a spear.

'Oh, how sweet, did you make this for me?' I smile at him.

His laugh is hidden in a single smirk as he winks at me, 'Just for you, sweetheart.'

----time skip----

About 15 minutes later, we hear a pig around the trees. Jack hushes us all raises his knife. He attempts to stab it, but misses. Everyone else runs after it, some taking different routes to catch it off guard. Roger jumps from quite a height and catches it, though he did hit his head against the ground.

'Are you alright?' I ask him.

'That was quite a hard hit, Rog,' Jack says.

'Yeah, I'm fine,' He says touching his head, then smirks, 'stabbed it though.'

Some of the boys cheer and go after it since it moved forward. I stay with Roger and look at his head.

'You should lay down, you'll be dizzy,' I tell him.

He looks at me, 'I'll be fine.'

'And concussed,' I lean my head to a side slightly.

'Fine, I'll rest when we get back if it makes you happy,' He almost mocks me.

I smile innocently at him, 'thank you, Roger, for caring about my feelings.'

He looks at me, with a sly smirk on the side of his lips. Why am I looking at his lips? I notice my hand still on his head whilst we remain on the ground. My fingers gently touch his hair.

'Oi, lovebirds, help us carry the pig will you?' Jack yells to us.

He rolls his eyes and gets up, I follow after.

Jack insists we paint our faces with its blood and dyes we make from nature. Next thing I know, we're all painting put faces red, blue and black.

'It will help us be blended in next time, since we only just managed to catch this one,' He tells us, 'now let's take it back and have a feast!'

The boys cheer and we carry it by tying it's legs to a stick. We reach where the fire is and see Ralph.

'Ralph, we caught a pig!' Jack boasts.

'We stabbed it in the head!' A boy cries out.

'There was blood everywhere!' Another says.

'You let the fire out,' Ralph says gestures to it.

'We can re-light it, but we can feast on meat! Actual food!' Jack says.

'You let the fire out,' Ralph says more sternly, his teeth gritted together.

Jack looks a little nervous at the repetition of this sentence, 'so?'

'There was a plane! We could've been saved! The smoke could have alerted them!' Ralph tells to Jack.

'I didn't see a plane,' Jack states.

'That's because you were all too busy hunting and killing a bloody pig!' Ralph continues to yell. 'There was a plane for hells sake!'

'We could've been rescued!' Piggy pipes up.

'Shut up, fatty!' Jack retorts, some of the boys laugh. 'We'll keep the fire going from now on, then.'

'Good,' Ralph says.

'Re-light the fire, we can cook the pig and have meat!' Jack says.

We do exactly that and eat our meat, though I notice piggy isn't given any.

'Aren't I having none?' Piggy asks.

'You didn't hunt,' Jack scrunched his nose at the sight if the boy.

'Nor did Ralph or Simon,' Piggy states.

Simon, being the Jesus kid he apparently is, gives his piece to piggy.

Jack goes to him and speaks, 'eat, damn you! I told you I'd get food and I did!'

'Just keep the fire going next time. That needs to be our priority.' Ralph says.
