Rockaway

09:41, 16 May 2021

Sunlight flooded in as Rose yawned and stretched in her bed, rubbing off the sleep from her eyes. She expected a particular man's hands to be wrapped around her body but to her dismay, the spot beside her was vacant. The bedsheet was cold which meant Loki has left a few hours before.

Panicked, Rose jumped out of the bed. "God! How can he leave me like this? I don't know anyone else except him and Thor? Should I walk out?" Her stomach grumbled loudly making her groan. "I'm hungry..."

Her attention was caught by a soft knock at the door. "Come in please." She called out, knowing that it's neither Loki nor Thor. Loki would have knocked hard and Thor would have just barged in.

The door creaked open and a girl carrying a plate, came in. "Hello my Lady." She bowed, her gaze locked on the floor. Rose smiled and took the plate from her hand. "Hello to you too, umm... your name?" "Ye-Yeona, my Lady." The girl stammered, still not looking up. Rose frowned slightly. Why isn't she looking at me?

"That's a beautiful name, dear! And I'm Rose. Call me Rose." Rose said, placing a hand on the girl's shoulder. The girl looked up at her, a bit surprised. "But-but you're my mistress and I can't call you by-" She stopped when Rose waved her hand. "I'm not your mistress, Yeona. We can be friends. Now, no Lady, please. Just Rose. Okay?" The girl hesitated before nodding. "You're so sweet... Rose."

Rose smiled widely and kept the plate on the bed. She patted the spot next to her. "Come here, Yeona. Sit with me." The girl smiled shyly and joined her. She lifted up the lid for Rose from the plate to reveal some colourful fruits and a glass containing something red in colour. "Prince said to bring you your breakfast, because you missed it." Yeona informed her. "Loki?" Rose asked. The girl nodded.

Rose took a bite of the pink coloured berry and was awestruck. Her taste buds tingled as she savoured the berry with delight. They were soo sweet with the right amount of sourness and were juicy!"Damn! This is soo tasty!" She moaned, stuffing more two in her mouth. Yeona giggled. "It's my favourite one."

"So you are my um...sort of PA, right?" Rose asked, her mouth full of little berries as she offered some to the timid girl. "P...A? I don't understand..." "Uh... I mean you're my personal assistant, then." The girl nodded, still not getting the term properly.

Rose studied the red-head girl, who had her head down and was fiddling with the hem of her sleeves. She was a teen, maybe 16 or something. But this girl was beautiful with bright blue eyes, in a childlike way. Fair skinned with tiny powdered freckles on her bare shoulders and cheeks, that added to her beauty.

"You're pretty." Rose complimented with a wide smile which got wider seeing the girl blush. "Thank you Rose. And you look like a goddess.""Ahahaha! Thank you dear!" Goddess! I'm far away from the word....

"Umm... can I take out your clothes?" Yeona asked, looking up at Rose. Rose's brows furrowed. "But I don't have any spare clothes. Loki said that I'll get it here in Asgard..." "Prince has asked you to check your almirah once." Rose nodded and after gulping down the sweet-and-sour liquid from the golden cup, stood up and opened the door of the huge almirah. Her eyes nearly popped out seeing so many dresses of variety of colours neatly hanged and stacked.

"DRESSES!?!" She started to rummage through the clothes and then with an irritated huff, stomped her feet. "These are dresses! No pants! No shirts! No sweatshirts! Ugh!" Yeona rushed to her side, alerted and confused at the sudden change of her mistress's mood. "Rose, is there any problem? Don't you like them?"

Rose let out a long breath and rubbed her face. "They are fine but... not my type." She turned and grabbed the girl's shoulder. "Don't you wear pants and T-shirts, I mean something that is not a dress?"

Yeona's face contorted into confusion again. "But... that's what ladies wear here. You have to wear dresses. And you can't wear this funny dress here." She said pointing at Rose's loose PJ's. "This isn't funny! It's one of the most comfortable clothing back on earth-Midgard. You don't know because you have never wore it." Rose said, releasing the girl's shoulder.

"Soo...?" Yeona asked, staring at Rose who sighed, defeated. "Well, I have to wear a dress now." Damn you Loki! I should have brought my comfy clothes...

"Yay! Can I choose? Can I choose? Please!" Yeona pleaded, jumping on her toes. Rose couldn't help but smile. This girl is getting more comfortable now. "Go ahead." Rose waved her hand and Yeona started her search. Within a minute, she took out a baby pink gown and handed it to Rose with a very excited smile.

Rose rolled her eyes. "Pink...yuck." She muttered. "Can't you take out something that is black or dark?" Yeona frowned. "It's your first day in Asgard. I don't think you should wear black today. And this dress will look beautiful on you. Just try it." To keep the girl's heart, Rose grabbed the dress and entered the bathroom while Yeona started to arrange her bed.

Rose stepped out and cleared her throat. Yeona turned and squealed happily."I told you! I told you that you will look beautiful!" She said, clapping her hands and it made Rose smile. At least, the girl is happy. The dress was simple and to Rose's surprise, it felt comfortable and not itchy. The dress was full sleeved and was off-shoulder. It was tight around the waist and then loose like a skirt. "Now sit here. Let me brush your hair." Yeona grabbed Rose's hand and made her sit on a chair, facing a dressing table.

As the girl started to brush her hair, Rose decided to do some chit-chats. "So Yeona, how old are you? In terms of Midgardian years." Rose quickly added. The girl thought for a moment. "Umm... According to your years, as Mum has taught me... I'm 15. You?""21... So, you have siblings?" Yeona nodded. "A little brother. Yevhen. He's five years old according to your aging process. And we are going to have one more sibling soon."

Rose smiled widely as she applied some red gloss on her plump lips. "Your momma is expecting?" Yeona nodded happily. "She says, the new one can come anytime now. I'm excited." She giggled making Rose laugh. "What does your parents do?""He is a soldier in Allfather's army. And mother is Allmother's umm... PA." The girl replied.

"And what about you, Rose? Your parents?" The question made Rose's smile falter a bit. "I'm an orphan. Never had a chance to meet them." Yeona's fingers stopped. "I am really sorry. I didn't mean to hurt your-""It's ok. Don't apologise dear." Rose smiled. An uncomfortable silence fell between them.

Unable to cope with the silence anymore, Yeona opened her mouth only to close it again as someone knocked at the door. Hard. "Come in Loki!" Rose called out and Yeona shot up, standing. Loki peeked in and then stepped inside. Yeona bowed low at the sight of the young prince."My Prince." Loki nodded his head, acknowledging her greeting.

He then turned to face Rose with a wide grin. "I see you're wearing a dress."Rose faked a tight smile. "Yeah! Thanks to you Loki. How am I looking?" She asked, twirling a bit that made Yeona suppress her giggle. Loki stepped forward and kissed her forehead. "As beautiful as usual, my Angel. But something is missing..." He said as he inspected her with a small frown."What?"

Loki didn't answer her but walked over to Yeona to whisper something to which the girl nodded with a smile. Loki handed the girl something and Yeona sat back brushing Rose's hair again. "But my hair is already combed!""Hush!" Both Yeona and Loki together sushed her, making her zip her mouth.

With a tug here and a twist there, Yeona sat braiding Rose's hair as Loki gazed at his beloved, fondly. "Finished!" Yeona whooped and stepped back for Loki to inspect Rose's hair. "You did a wonderful job, Yeona." Loki praised smiling down at the little girl who blushed red. "Thank you Prince....I think my work here is done. Can I have my leave?" Loki nodded and with a goodbye wave, she sprinted off the room.

"Was it needed?" Rose asked, unable to suppress her smile. She had to admit that her hairstyle was amazing. Some braids here and there with a silver vine like headdress completed her hairdo. This girl is talented!

"Of course it was needed. You're my girlfriend and you should make yourself presentable." Loki said, booping her nose. He took her bandaged hand in his and started to unwrap it to reveal a pink stripe of the completely healed slash. "It healed quickly." Rose mumbled.

"Because of the Asgardian balm." Loki answered, his face down. Rose noticed his frown and placed her hand on his cheek. "What's the matter, Loki?""Please never pull a stunt like this again. You made me scared."Rose shook her head quickly. "I'm sorry but I won't do it again. I promise. It just...just happened before I could stop myself." Loki hummed softly and kissed her palm.

With a flick of his hand, the crystal necklace (the earlier one given by Loki) disappeared from around Rose's neck only to be replaced by another one, this time with a pink stone. Rose's eyes widened as she ran her fingers over the simple yet beautiful necklace.

"I know that you don't like heavy jewelry so I thought....you'll like it. I mean I'm not sure but it looked good and as luck could have, you're wearing a pink-" Loki had to stopped his blabbering because of the lips that was pressed on his so suddenly. Although, he didn't complain about it, rather kissed her back. It was a short kiss and it brightened up their faces.

"So it means you liked it?" Loki asked grinning and scratching his neck. "How can't I love something when it's given by my lovely boyfriend?" Rose wiggled her brows as she wrapped her arms around his neck. "But really, it wasn't needed. I am not a baby girl needed to be pampered."

Loki laughed, booping her nose with his and conjured up her camera. "You're my baby girl and I'll spoil my Kitty as much as I wish. So, are you ready to enjoy the day?""Of course!""Then... what are we waiting for, huh?""A kiss maybe..."

Rose POV

I thought enjoying the day included horse riding, travelling and exploring but it seemed Loki had some other plan for me. "You're gonna meet someone whom I love as much as I love you...well I love you more but-""Loki!" Loki's silly ramblings were interrupted by a beautiful and regal woman wrapped in silk.

The woman approached us swiftly and may I add, gracefully. So gracefully that she seemed to float instead of walking. She engulfed Loki in a tight warm hug which he returned happily. Very happily. "Momma..." I heard him sigh as his face had the brightest smile that was really rare to appear on his handsome face.

So she was his mother! I mean Queen! As soon as she released Loki and turned to face me, I bowed down. Or *cough* tried to bow down because my foot got stuck with the trail of my dress and I nearly kissed the floor if it not had been for some familiar strong arms holding me up.

One of the reason for my hatred towards dresses: they enhance my clumsiness.

"Uh ah! Are you fine, my child?" Queen asked me with a soft gasp as I regained my balance. My warm cheeks got warmer as I tried to avoid her eyes. Jesus! It's too embarassing! Before I could say something, Loki decided to open his mouth. "She's absolutely fine mother. Don't mind her clumsiness." It took all of my efforts not to glare at him.

I bowed again, slightly this time but Queen stopped me. "No need of formalities, my child." And then she did something which I never expected. She hugged me. Shaking myself out of my daze, I awkwardly hugged her back but oh holy Christ, I felt myself melting into the hug. The hug was filled with the unfamiliar warmth of motherly love and I could feel my eyes getting moist.

This is the first time I felt jealous of Loki. He had something which I never had and craved for the most...the love of a mother.

We broke the short hug which according to me felt longer. She held my chin and beamed with a wide smile. "Oh my! She's soo beautiful Loki! I feel so proud of my son for choosing you." She said chuckling as I blushed again. "Oh how badly I wanted to meet you! I'm elated to have you here, Rose." She said, placing her warm hand on my cheek.

"It's nice to meet you too, Allmother." I said smiling. "Ah! Don't call me Allmother. Call me Frigga." I nodded accepting it. She smiled again and then looked at Loki. "Now son, I want to spend time with my future daughter-in-law. Go and find your brother." I groaned in my mind as I blushed again at the mention of 'daughter-in-law'. I hate blushing.

Loki clearly didn't want to leave my side. Heck, he didn't even guess that he would be forced to leave me alone. I laughed softly when Frigga shooed a pouting and grumbling Loki away and grabbed my hand, dragging me to a garden.

We sat on a stone bench as I took in the beautiful sight in front of me. This place is surely heaven! The most beautiful garden I have ever seen."So, is he treating you well?" Came her question. I nodded. "He treats me like a princess. I must have done something good in my previous life for getting such a loving man like him." I sounded so dreamy.

Frigga smiled and took my hand in hers. "I have never seen him this happy and contented before." The smile became a sad one. "You know about his true parentage, right? And about... Neith?" I nodded and she sighed. "He was so broken and confused. And lost. Started hating himself and us too. And his state worsened after that girl left him. He tried to commit suicide...was away from us for nearly a year and then we found out that he's on Midgard, preparing for an invasion."

The gears in my brain started to turn. Suicide!?! He tried to commit suicide!?! He never told me about it! Neither did Thor! Suicide... The word sent down a chill down my spine as my stomach lurched at the thought of him dead. Thank God, Frigga didn't notice my sharp intake of breathe. Loki, you have a lot of explaining to do.

"I tried to reason with Odin to listen to my son once, but he sentenced him to life imprisonment. I knew that something was wrong..." Frigga continued, her eyes glazed. "I thought I had lost my young lively boy but then he met you, in Midgard. You brought him back to me and I'll be forever grateful to you for this, Rose." She said, her voice shaking as she squeezed my hand.

"You don't need to be grateful and all, Frigga! Please don't say like that." I didn't know what else to say to a mother to comfort her. Even my eyes were about to water seeing Loki's mother so distraught. He was soo lucky to have her in his life. Frigga smiled and kissed my hand.

She closed her hand in a fist and then opened it to reveal a bracelet which looked oddly familiar to me. It was made with braided black threads with a single bright emareld in the middle. "You know what it is?" She asked, placing it on my palm. I thought for a moment, staring at it for a while when it struck me. "It's the bracelet that you gave when he arrived in Midgard." Frigga nodded. "And you removed it, right?"

I flushed. "Erm... sorry. I just... He said that it hurts him and so I thought to remove it... Are you angry?" I asked, fidgeting with the band. Frigga chuckled and shook her head. "No no! Why would I be angry? But when I heard about it, I was surprised. Do you know why?" She asked, her eyes twinkling. I shook my head. "No..."

"Because instead of me, no one could remove his bracelet. No one except for me and his... soulmate." The last word made my breath hitch. I blinked slowly, trying to process the word. Soulmate... soulmate....am I in Disney World?

"Soulmate...? Wha-wait... What does that mean?" The words came out as a whisper. "Well, soulmates are something-""No wait! I know what does that mean but..." I gulped. "We are made for each other...? Means that my other half is with him and vice-versa...? But it's not true." I didn't know what to feel. Excited and happy or confused. It seems I was feeling all of them.

Frigga snorted. "Of course it's true. You're his soulmate, my child. Your souls are already bound together when you two had your first kiss." My eyes widened. First kiss! The sparks! The electrifying sparks! Oh sweet Jesus!"Was it love at first sight?" She asked suddenly with a mischievous grin. I couldn't help but laugh.

"No! We were not in good terms with each other. I was new in the team and he was still the infamous attacker. Frankly to say, I despised him and was a bit scared too." I said, as his cruel pranks of spiders and hurtful comments resurfaced in my head. "He hurt me with his tricks and I repaid him in my own way. Then one day, I hurt him badly... accidentally." My smile fell as his a groaning and bleeding Loki with a bleeding bullet wound on his shoulder, flashed in my mind.

I looked at Frigga who looked excited to hear more. "I felt so bad and guilty. I patched him up and then...he said sorry to me. I too apologized and then offered him my friendship which he hesitantly took. It was a start of our beautiful friendship." I smiled brightly and sighed. "We flirted but it was friendly flirts. Time passed and I didn't even know when I fell for him....From enemies to best friends and from best friends to lovers. He's my first love and my last too."

"First love? You were never courted before! I can't believe it!" Frigga said shaking her head. I smiled sadly. "I am not too good with boys... A rough past you may say." I said and she nodded her head. We sat there enjoying the view in a comfortable silence and then she got up. I followed her suit and was engulfed in another hug. "Enjoy your stay darling. And always stay by his side. He needs you."

I nodded quickly. "I'll be with him till my heart cease beating. I love him to the moon and back. I assure you, I'll keep him happy." I'll keep my Loki happy. Even if it costs the world, I'll keep my promise.

Loki POV

It's not fair!

How could mother do this to me!

She knew I had plans for Rose but she just shooed me away like an annoying cat!

Mother could have let me stay with them. I would have kept quiet and just sat there, enjoying my love's beauty, never disturbing them. Oh she looks so beautiful today! Can't wait to see the jealous face of Fandral. Hah!

I looked down at the thick book of astronomy in my hand which I was trying to read for the past half an hour. I was still stuck on the same page. How could I read when my complete attention was somewhere else?

"Loki?" I whipped my head towards the source of the voice and stood up, keeping the book on the desk. Mother entered into the library and I walked near her. I turned around to find a special woman but my smile dropped seeing her absence. "She's not here, son. " Mother said with a knowing smile."Where is she?" I asked, my eyes still on the door, hoping for her to walk in.

"She saw a squirrel and sprinted away to catch it." Mother laughed softly which made me smile. Oh my sweet baby Pudding...

"I want to tell you something, son. Something important." I turned my attention back to mother who now had a serious look on. I nodded, clasping my hands behind my back. "Is there any problem?" I asked but to my confusement, she smiled widely as her eyes shone with tears.

"She's the one, Loki! She's the girl!" My brows furrowed as I tilted my head."Mother I don't understand what-""She's your other half Loki. Your soulmate." Mother's excited words hit me hard. I blinked. "Really?" Rose is my soulmate! She's born to be mine! Mine!

"Cherish her, my son. Love her endlessly 'cause you two are bound. Do you understand what I am saying?" I nodded aggressively. Rose is my soulmate and that means no one can separate us. Not even Odin. He has to bow down in his attempt.

Hah! Suck that Odin! I can't wait to see his face when I'll drop this bomb on his head.

"Now run, my son! She's in the garden." Mother placed a kiss on my forehead, caressing my cheek. "I'm so happy...soo happy."

Rushing out, I started towards the garden. My smile doubled when I caught a glimpse of Rose behind a tree. I hurriedly walked towards her but stopped dead in my track.

Rose's nervous eyes met mine as she gave me an relieved smile. I walked near her side and faced the smirking man with my cold hard gaze. "Hello Loki!"

"... Fandral."

Well some of you may have guessed that they are soulmates, right? Ok I don't know and I'm not too good at keeping things a mystery...Blergh! Whatever, did you like the chapter? Yes! *phew*😍 thanks a lot! Please don't forget to vote and comment!
