awkward

"Tayls?" Jay poked his head around the bathroom door to see Taylor stood leaning against the countertop, it was the next morning and things were already off to a rocky start. He furrowed his brows in confusion, "you good?" He leant in the doorway. She looked up at him and nodded, "it's just hitting me I guess" she shrugged and stood up straight. He frowned and walked behind her, "hank called while you were asleep last night, he said there was 6 of the guys involved and they're all awaiting trial already" he wrapped his hands around her waist. She looked at him through the mirror, "yeah?" She tilted her head hopefully. He nodded with a sad smile.

"I just thought it would feel better, you know? They've been taking kids for decades now, they took a part of me I'll never get back, and I don't feel like anything's changed..." she rested her head on his chest. He rested his chin in her head, "things take time, all you need to realise is that it's over, and they're never gonna take another child" he held her close. She sighed, "my mom called when she heard what had happened..." she looked at him through raised eyebrows. He nodded, "yeah? What'd she say?" He smiled weakly; he knows she doesn't have the best relationship with her mom. Taylor sighed before relaxing, "she just wanted to know that I was okay, but I know she was just being nosey" she shrugged.

"Did you talk to Alex? Your dad?" He nodded sympathetically. She shook her head, "they're stopping by today, I told them what happened over text but i didn't feel like talking to anyone, so not really..." she shrugged.  He smiled, "that's fine Tayls, take it slow, I know this is hard for you. But I'm with you 100%" he shrugged back.  She smiled sweetly but closed her eyes, god she really loves this man.  He smiled back at how safe she must feel when she's with him, all of her trust lays in his hands and he couldn't feel more honoured.

Hank had given both jay and Taylor two days off so Taylor could gather herself again, if she needed longer off then she could have it, but jay needed to be back in two days time to work again.

At around 3:25pm there was a knock in the door, jay got up and answered it to see that it was her dad stood at the door. "Hey, come in" he opened the door in fully. "Thanks jay" Matt smiled and stepped inside of his daughters home which was now jays too.  He walked into the living room to see Taylor sat on the couch, she looked up and smiled before getting up and walking into his embrace.  "God i was so worried..." Matt grasped her head and pulled it into his chest.  She closed her eyes and let out a deep breath, "it's over..." she nodded.  Jay was stood a bit away from them just smiling but he didn't want to split this moment up so he stayed still.

"Did your mom stop by?" Matt rubbed her back. Taylor shook her head, "typical" Matt scoffed. Her mother never really supported Taylor the way the kid needed it when she was found, so the pair are bitter. "Can I get you a beer?" Jay smiled as Matt pulled away from Taylor. "That'd be great thanks son" Matt nodded thankfully. Jay smiled and nodded, he's grateful that her dad likes him, it would've been awkward if he didn't.  He passed both Taylor and Matt a beer as well as grabbing one for himself.  The trio sat and talked for at least two hours before Alex came running into the house.

            "Woah, long time no see" Taylor signed with a smirk on her face.  Alex ran into her arms, "I thought you got hurt..." the teenager signed back.  Taylor smiled, "I'm ok" she shook her head.  God she loves this kid, her sister is the most important girl in her life, it would be dull without her.  Jay smiled, he's even learned a bit of sign language so he can talk to Alex when she's around.  Matt decided to leave them to it and call it a day after wishing taylor a good rest of the day.  The new trio sat and talked all night, they even had pizza, played monopoly and watched a film.  Taylor was just thankful to have everyone around her in times like this...
