*one week later*

The team were still working cases regularly since they had no special reason not to, sure enough somebody had sent Taylor that creepy message but they still had jobs to do, they just had to be extra careful while doing them.  Nothing in particular had happened over the past week, no signs of threats, no secret messages, literally nothing.  Taylor couldn't even walk anywhere without anyone, if she wasn't with jay or anyone from the unit, a patrol car was following her around so she decide it was best to just stay home instead.  Alex, her sister, was getting a little worried about her big sister since she was always on edge, and her dad was starting to worry that the past was creeping up on her...

Jay walked into the district with his girlfriend, like usual, and made their short trip upstairs where the team greeted them kindly.  Undoubtedly, they didn't even get to sit down before hank walked out and told them to move it, "we've got a series of car jackings, let's go" he waved them out. They all groaned since it was early in the morning but made their way downstairs and into their cars, they put their vests on during the journey there since they couldn't be bothered standing around in the cold garage.  When they arrived on the the fire department was there putting out the car fire still, hank, jay and Taylor walked over to a nearby patrol officer, "what did you see?" Hank huffed.

The young officer stood up straighter, "I arrived on scene just as the three kids ran off, there's a victim inside the vehicle too, burnt alive..." he cringed at the sight.  The trio nodded, "alright, thanks" hank nodded as they walked off to go tell their finding to the rest of the team. Once they were all knowledgeable enough they began scanning the surrounding area, once again, jay not leaving Taylor's side in case anything did happen...

The partners took an alleyway where the kids were seen running off to, but as they got there nothing jumped out at them. Everything seemed normal, however in Chicago nothings ever simple so they conducted their usual forensic search in hopes to find something. Taylor stood up to stretch her legs and yawned, completely oblivious to the van which had just rolled up at the end of the alleyway, but jay didn't miss it. He stood up too and caught a glimpse of the number plate before a man peered out of a hatch at the top and aimed a gun towards the pair, "Tayls duck" he snapped. Taylor looked around literally looking for a duck so jay dived on her, "I didn't mean that kind of duck..." he groaned as he rolled into a hiding spot with Taylor.

Taylor caught her breath back since jay literally pounced on her, "what?" She looked around again. Jay checked her for injuries before shaking his head, "I meant for you to duck, there was a gun..." he cupped her cheek carefully since he could see the fear and confusion on her face. Taylors eyes widened, "oh, I, I didn't see it..." she shook her head. Jay smiled, "you alright?" He rubbed his thumb across her cheek. Taylor smiled weakly, "yeah you?" She nodded. Jay smiled, "I'm fine" he nodded back. Hank ran around the corner at the sound of tires screeching, "Halstead, Watson? You guys good?" He called out. The pair stood up and shook themselves off, "there's a white van, Illinois tags, three passengers possibly more. They all looked armed but I couldn't really see" jay informed him.

Hank nodded, "did you get a glimpse?" He sighed and looked at Taylor.  Taylor shook her head, "I didn't even see it..." she shrugged, her face was now a pale white which didn't go unnoticed by jay. Hank nodded and walked away with Kevin and Vanessa to go and put a BOLO out on the vehicle, jay turned to face Taylor as did Kim while Adam folded his arms. Jay furrowed his brows, "Tayls you don't look so good..." he grabbed her arm. The second jays hand touched her arm she collapsed to the floor but she wasn't out long, she was only unconscious for a few seconds before waking up to see three very confused and worried faces staring down at her, "Tayls? Can you hear us?" Kim snapped her fingers in her face since taylors face looked glazed over.

Taylor sat up with the help of her friends and nodded, "I'm good, just got a bit dizzy" she stood up, jay grabbed her arm, "Tayls you should go home..." he started but she cut him off, "no I need to work..." she shook herself off and acted like she didn't just pass out. Jay looked at Kim with concern, they all know how stubborn Taylor can be, "guys really I'm fine" Taylor perked up after a moment's silence. Jay sighed and let go of her arm, Kim stood up straight and Adam nodded, "let's go" she smiled weakly and began walking. They all followed close behind her, not knowing wether they should tell Voight and force her to go home or wether they just let it go and keep an eye on her themselves. They decided to go with the second option and make Taylors life a little easier but that still didn't mean they'd forget about her passing out.

Back at the district they were working on finding some new leads, Taylor was back to acting like nothing happened earlier today but jay kept on peeping at her over the top of his computer, luckily she didn't catch on and he could continue to make sure she was okay until hank walked out with the newest information intel. He sighed and tapped the board, "patrols found the suspected children already, they're in custody. Halstead, Watson you two go pick them up I've pinged you the address" he nodded and passed some case files to the rest of the unit. The pair got up and nodded before getting into jays truck and driving to the location. The pair made conversation on the way but jay kept on trying to ask if she was okay, "really jay, I'm fine. I promise" she smiled and nodded as he pulled up next to the building.

Inside the building sat the three teenagers who were suspected to have started the fire and committed the car jacking crimes but as Taylor closed the back door of jays truck she heard a little girl crying down the back of an alley. Jay was still inside the building gathering up info from the patrol so she had no choice but to check it out alone, she knew she shouldn't be walking around alone but if there's a kid in danger she wasn't gonna let her get hurt when she could prevent it. She bit her lip and just walked down the back of the alley with her gun raised, she saw a small child crying and standing on her own looking around for any kind of help so she crouched down next to her and smiled sadly.

"Hey baby, where's your parents?" She grabbed the child's hand, she looked no older than 7 at the max. Before Taylor could even stand back up and walk away with the child she felt the barrel of a gun pushed right up to the back of her head, "woah woah woah, I'm the police" she put her hand up so her gun was pointed into the air and her fingers were away from the trigger. A man scoffed, "yeah, I know who you are jazzy" he laughed and dug the gun into the back of her head more. Taylors eyes widened, this was not the time for this to be happening... She slowly pushed the child behind her legs as she stood up and turned around to face the old man, dropping her gun in the process.

Jay walked out of the building, expecting to see Taylor stood by the car door, but she wasn't there. He could see the kids in the back of his truck but no Taylor at all. He had a bad feeling about this until he heard yelling and crying coming from a back alleyway. He clutched his gun and held it high as he walked towards the noise, his heart stopping in the process. There he saw the love of his life staring death in the face as she unwillingly had her head pushed up to the barrel of a gun, "you were always meant to be mine jaz, always" the old man laughed. Taylor shook her head, "I was never yours, you took my childhood away from me. You sick bastard" she scoffed in his face.

She made eye contact with Jay as he moved around the side, she tried her best not to give his stance away and made eye contact with the old man again, "your time was over the day I got away from that house" Taylor shook her head against the gun, almost as a way to show the man she want scared, but she was, she was terrified. The old man laughed, "I don't think you realise how selfish you were, the amount of fortune you cost us the day you ran away can never be mentioned, but I will tell you one thing, I'm here to take I all back" he snapped. Taylor shook her head, "you're getting nothing from me, from anyone. You're gonna rot in hell" she made her face go stone cold. That was a look jay was scared of, whenever she gave people that look it was impossible for him to read her, it either meant she was turning off her emotions or she was plotting their death.

Taylor laughed one last time as jay pressed the gun against the mans head, "you're gonna pay for what you did to me, to the other girls" she pulled a face as he moved the gun away from her head and raised his hands. Jay but his anger back, "you're under arrest asshole" he put the cuffs on his hands tighter than he normally would. He didn't even get to see if Taylor was okay because she had bent down to see if the girl was okay, "you're okay sweetie, he's not gonna hurt you" she cooed the child into a hug. He smiled at the interaction but the old mans wriggling around brought him back to reality. It wasn't long before hank and the team pulled up to see what was going on, jay handed over the man and checked on his girlfriend. He walked back down the alley to where Taylor was stood, "you're okay..." he pulled her into a hug.

Taylor let out a small cry into the crook of jays neck, "he's gone now..." he whispered caringly into her ear.  Taylor stayed in the hug until she saw hank and the team walking towards them, "you alright Tayls?" Kevin nodded.  Taylor wiped the stray tear away and nodded as hank smiled sadly, "go home, both of you. We'll deal with this and let you know when it's over" he nodded.  Taylor looked at jay and smiled sadly before nodding and walking away with him.  The pair got into the truck as jay began driving, the drive was pretty silent but jay knew she had things flying around in her head that he'd never be able to understand so he let her be.

Eventually they arrived back home, "you hungry?" Jay smiled, Taylor smiled weakly but shook her head, "I haven't got much of an appetite" she looked down and walked towards the couch.  Jay nodded sadly, but he was a little hungry so he let her wander over to the couch as he grabbed himself a snack and two glasses of water for them both.  He joined her on the couch and she immediately leant against his side, "I'll never let anybody hurt you Tayls, ever" he wrapped his arm around her and put his snack down.  She smiled and nodded before sighing, "what if he doesn't get locked up?" She felt the nerves kick in.  Jay shook his head, "he will, voight'll make sure of it and if he doesn't, I will" he rubbed her arm.  The pair had each other and that's all that really mattered...
