Personal mail woman

23:44, 19 April 2021

*one week later*

Dr Crockett had told Taylor that in a few days, once she's had her last physical exam from Natalie at med, she can go back to working in the field full time which was exciting for her since she was still on desk duty when the team went out on big cases. The cards in the suspicious envelopes had still been coming in but it was a little weird how they only arrived, delivered by a different person each time, when the team were out and she was alone in the bullpen. Today was a little different, she had collected a total of 16 mini cards which had formulated quite a pile in her desk over the past week or two but today was strange...

The team were working on a case so jay and Taylor were stood in the viewing room watching Kim and Voight interrogate a suspect.  Everything was all good until they left the room once the pair were done, Kim and Voight had already ran back into the bullpen to sort out the board but jay and Taylor were just walking along casually, "hey sunshine" trudy called out from behind the pair as she wandered around the corner.  The pair turned around even though that's not jays nickname, "you're gonna have to tell your secret admirer to find a new personal mail woman, it's not just letters anymore" the older Sargent huffed but smiled a little and handed Taylor a medium square sized package.  Taylor furrowed her brows but nodded and took it from her, "I know...thanks Sarge" she sighed and smiled.

Trudy smiled then walked off to go back downstairs as the pair turned back around and carried on walking towards the bullpen, "secret admirer? Do I have to rough someone up?" Jay raised an eyebrow.  Taylor laughed, "hopefully not" she sighed and shrugged while flipped the box around to find a senders address but there wasn't one, "wait they've been sending you letters?" He added.  Taylor stopped at the door before going into the bullpen, "yeah, quite a few of them actually. I thought nothing of it at first but now it's a little creepy. I'll show you them later" she nodded.  Jay nodded back, he was prepared to kill someone if they think they can steal her from him.

The team managed to close the case before they could go home for the day so they still had around 1 hour left before clocking out but they had already done their paperwork. Jay nodded at Taylor curiously, "you kept the letters?" He raised an eyebrow. Taylor smiled, "yeah, but I wouldn't really call them letters..." she sighed and tilted her head. Jay followed her signal and got up from his chair, he walked around and sat on her desk in front of her as she pulled out an envelope from her drawer. Taylor huffed and plopped the cards onto the desk, "they have nothing more then a letter on each of them, I don't know if it's meant to say something. I haven't really had chance to figure it out yet" she shrugged. Jay furrowed his brows at the cards, she was right they each had a letter on, some had the same letter on but others were different.

Jay nodded, "well then, we'll figure it out now, I wanna know if someone's trying to steal my future wife" he smirked and pulled his chair over so he could sit next to her. Taylor smirked but eventually chuckled at his remark and shook her head, "sort them out into piles or something?" she tilted her head. Jay nodded in agreement but their random act caught the unit's attention, "woah, since when was it game night?" Adam stopped at taylors desk on his way to grab some more coffee.  Jay looked up, "Tayls has got a secret admirer and I'm not having it" he huffed.  Adam nodded, "ohhhhh, well that sounds like hard work" he raised an eyebrow and walked off to go fill his mug up.  Taylor laughed and subconsciously wrapped her foot around jays ankle, also something she does when she's nervous.

Jay felt her foot around his ankle and looked at her through the corner of his eye, he could see how confused and worried she was but he knew not to bother her, "there's 2 o's, 2 p's, 1 g, 4 e's, 2 s', 1 t, 1 h, 1 w, 1 a and 1 L" taylors sigh brought him out of his thoughts.  He tilted his head at the arranged letters, "hmmm maybe...uhm, I think it's...nah, I'm lost" he huffed in defeat.  Taylor laughed a little, she was kind of lost for thoughts too, she looked up at the team who were chatting away, "anyone good with anagrams?" She chirped up sweetly.  Vanessa gasped and ran over to them, "me!" She squealed happily.  Jay and Taylor both smiled and let Vanessa squeeze in between the pair so she could have a look.

After a few seconds of pondering from Vanessas tiny brain, she gasped, "pop, that could be one..." she took the two p's and one o away and arranged them into the word over to the side of the desk and out of the way.  Taylor looked at jay with a raised eyebrow, okay then... After a few more seconds she gasped again, "go...I mean, I think..." she shrugged and put the second possible word next to pop.  Adam finally walked back out into the bullpen with his coffee in hand and stopped at taylors desk again, he stared at the already formed words then laughed a little, "pop goes the weasel..." he joked around then walked off.

Jay smirked a little but Vanessas nodding caught the couple off guard, "he could be right, one sec..." she began arranging the cards into the sentence.  Adam gasped, "wait I got it right?" He stood up.  Vanessa smiled, "yeah, well done dumbo" she laughed and left jay and Taylor to ponder to themselves.  Taylor stared at the sentence, it was definitely what it was meant to say but what does it mean? A kids nursery rhyme? Huh... She shook her head, "is this some kind of joke? Who would spend their time sending me this?" She raised an eyebrow.  Jay tilted his head, "you've still got the box to open" he pointed to the package next to her and stood up to go get his phone from his side of the desks.

Taylor nodded, "oh yeah..." she grabbed the package and placed it in front of her.  Jay was stood checking his messages and notifications when Taylor finally pulled out the contents of the box, it was a closed jack in a box with an envelope, she quickly ripped open the paper and let a copper key fall onto her desk catching the teams attention once again.  Kevin smirked a little, "well that's not creepy at all" he looked at the kids toy on her desk sarcastically.  Jay finally looked back up and saw the toy along with taylors confused face.  Hank had heard the laughter and commotion coming from the bullpen so he got up from his chair and walked into the doorway of his office.

"What's going on?" He raised an eyebrow as jay sighed in slight annoyance, "someone's messing with tayls" he nodded his head at the toy and cards on her desk.  Hank furrowed his brows but moved to stand next to jay so he could see her properly, "do I open it?" She further brows and looked at her boss.  Hank looked at jay but just nodded so the whole team stood next to their boss and jay waiting for the toy to ping open.  Taylor looked at jay before putting the key into the lock and sighing, she twisted the handle around as the nursery rhyme creepily sounded out loud.

"Up and down the city roadIn and out of the eagleThat's the way the money goesPop, goes the weasel"                  The team were all on edge waiting for some kind of release, the anticipation climaxed when the song ended but nothing happened.  They all huffed in disappointment but jumped out of their skin when the jack in a box finally flicked open, what popped out surely shocked everyone...

Subconsciously, they had all closed their eyes when the toy pinged open since it took them by surprise but their eyes widened when they finally opened them again.  Taylor was sat there in shock, she was frozen still.  Jays face turned pale when he saw his girlfriend sat there with blood splattered on her shirt and face, "Tayls..." he snapped her out of her thoughts and walked over to her.  She looked at him in confusion before looking back at the toy, it was a sickening sight.  It was a kids toy with the insides of it completely dismantled and ruined, the head off the jack in the box was ripped off and it had a note inside, the contents were fully covered in what looked to be blood, but pigs blood.

Hank walked over and took the note from the dolls head as it still bounced up and down, but Taylor couldn't sit there any longer, she had pigs blood all over her, the team had seen a fair share of human blood and they could tell that this wasn't human.  She got up and ran to the locker room immediately, jay wasted no time in following her.  Once she reached the the locker room she dashed over to the bin and threw up her lunch, "it's okay, I've got you" jay held her hair back as she puked into the trash can.  After she spewed up all of her stomach contents she stood pack up and faced jay, her face was pale and still shocked.

Jay stared back at her, just as shocked as she was, "come on, let's get you cleaned up. Wait here" he held his hand out to the bench. She sat down and stared at the floor blankly, what the hell just happened? How can an innocent game of guess the sentence turn into a cruel nightmare? Jay walked over to his locker and pulled out one of his spare shirts that he kept inside, he walked back over to his partner, best friend and partner all in one and gave her it. She wasted no time in getting her blood stained white shirt off of her and putting jay's shirt on, trying to avoid getting any of the blood from her face on the hem of the dark blue shirt. Jay took her ruined shirt and placed it in a plastic bag, they'd probably have to bin it but they could at least try washing it first.

Back in the bullpen, the team understood taylors reaction and let her be with jay in the locker room while they tried to solve the letter but they were having a rather hard time trying to put the pieces of the puzzle together since it was in another language, Arabic...
