𝟻. 𝐻𝑎𝑙𝑙𝑜𝑤𝑒𝑒𝑛

They continued to train for the next couple of weeks, Jules and Miguel started getting better with their kicks. They stood in the dojo, Jules was taking a break as Johnny was helped Miguel. He held out a wooden board for Miguel as the boy kicked the board but was unable to actually break the board.

They switched positions a couple of times, from Johnny on his knees holding the board to standing up and holding it higher. Jules watched as the continued, and listened to Johnny yelling things at the boy.

"Okay, take a break." Johnny said and started to get up but Jules walked up to him. "Sensei, can I try."

"Yeah sure." He said and picked up the board

Jules got into her fights pose, clenching her fist as she stared at the board. She let out a yell and sent a kick towards the board, the wood broke and splintered. Both Johnny and Miguel looked impressed, she just smiled and went back to her drink.

Johnny went back to training with Miguel, they moved over to a contraption that held three boards which were labeled as legs, stomach, and head. Jules watched as Miguel continued to try and break the boards until one time, she watched as he broke all three boards in succession. Jules cheered and walked up to Miguel.

"That was amazing!" She said and hi-fived him

Once they were done, Miguel and Jules went to get dressed. She sat there next to Miguel as she pulled on her shoes.

"I wish I could show my mom what I did to those boards, but if she knew where I was right now, she would kill me." Miguel said beaming with happiness and pride

Jules was happy for her friend as well, she knew how hard Miguel had been working. Jules stood up and looked over at Johnny who was staring down a letter, he groan.

"What's wrong with you?" She asked

"Nothing." He lied before telling them. "Put your costume on. I'm driving you to that dance. We're gonna pick up more students."

Jules hissed, "no can do Sensei, Daniel's going to the dance and if he see me with you I'm getting a long lecture." Johnny groaned at Daniel's name

Miguel got up and started to put on his costume, it looked handmade and rushed, Jules wasn't sure what Miguel was supposed to be. It was made of bedsheets.

"What the hell is that?" Johnny hissed

"It's my Halloween costume. My yaya made it. It started off as Deadpool then I think it was Spider-Man, and then it just kind of became some generic superhero." He explained

Jules laughed "yeah, a poor one at that."

Miguel turned to Jules, "Jules what are you going as?"

She shrugged, "my mom has this shower costume planned out. I just told her I wanted to be invisible, I don't really know."

Johnny reacted at her words again, he started reminding the Halloween dance those many years ago. The shower, Daniel, the beating he got from Mr. Miyagi.

He shook his head, "I can't let you guys go out looking like that. We have a reputation to uphold."

"What do you suggest." Miguel asked interesting

The smoke cleared as Miguel and Jules walked into the gym. The loud music remained Jules why she hated parties, Johnny had given them a skeleton costumes. It was a boring choice but at least it was better than Miguel's last costume, Jules assessed the party and watched all the kids dancing.

Miguel spotted Demetri and Eli over by the corner, he looked over at Jules and tapped her shoulder.

"Over there." He said and the girl nodded, they started over to the snack table

Jules felt confident like this, she had taken time to do her makeup and opted not to have her hood up and instead put some white hair dye spray over her hair. Demetri and Eli saw the two walking up to them. She smiled at the boys and Eli gave her a shy smile from under his mask.

"Oh, skeletons. Classic, nice." Demetri said and Jules smiled, she looked at the two boys. She could easily tell that Eli was a doctor but Demetri's was harder to understand

"Thanks." Miguel said and Jules pointed at Demetri's costume. "I like your sorcerer costume."

"Sorcerer?" He asked as if that was the wrong answer, he scoffed and added. "Please. I'm a Necromancer."

"What?" She asked confused

"Didn't you see the amulet?"

Jules rolled her eyes, Miguel looked over at Eli. "So, are you a regular doctor or?"

Eli answered fast, "plastic surgeon. I fix lips"

They nodded, "nice."

Jules looked around, laughing and smiling as she watched everyone else was having fun. She, usually, hated parties but this one was fun and Jules started to bob her head to the music. Things became less fun as they just hung around a single spot.

She zoned out as Miguel was talking to the boys, she followed after them as they started walking away. Her blood ran cold when she heard a voice only a couple of inches alway from her.

"Things change...sometimes." She heard him say, the hairs on the back of her neck stood up straight as she felt his eyes stare into the back of her head

He was only a foot away from her and if she turned to a certain angle or spoke, all of this could come crumbling down. Thankfully they didn't stay next to the flyer long and moved to the snack table. At least Jules could grab a drink, she waited for the guys to go out and mingle but they never did, so she was stuck there.

"Okay, are we ready?" Miguel was annoyed with Jules. "Let's ask the dragon queens to dance"

"Slow your roll. We got time." Demetri rolled his eyes at Miguel's impatience

Just then a man walked up to the girls they were staring at and took one of them away. Jules clicked her tongue and leaned closer to the boys.

"You guys just lost one to Doctor Who." She said and Miguel rolled his eyes. "Not funny Jules."

"I have to go to the bathroom." Eli said shyly and Demetri nodded. "Yeah, me too. That punch is going right through me."

Eli started walking away and Demetri followed, Miguel rolled his eyes and left Jules who groaned. "You're leaving me!"

She turned and headed after them, this dance had been the most boring dance ever. The boys walked up to the bathroom and Jules just stood next to the door rolling her eyes as they disappeared. Just then the door opened, Demetri and Eli ran out as if they had seen something.

"Hey where's Miguel?" She asked but Demetri shook his head. "He's dead meat."

She watched as they ran off but she didn't understand what they meant so she continued to wait there for Miguel. Something felt off as she stood there and she swore she could hear something besides the music. A few minutes later, Kyler and his goons walked out of the bathroom.

Kyler glared at Jules before continuing away from the bathroom, her eyes went wide when she realized what Demetri was talking about. Her heart raced and she turned to the door pushing it open.

"Miguel!" She called getting no answer, she heard a small groan

She ran farther into the locker, she turned and there Miguel laid. Bruised and writhing on the ground in pain.

"Miguel, I'm so sorry." She said as tears came to her eyes

She turned and ran out the other door, she needed Johnny. He would know what to do, she looked to the side and saw him.

"Jules." He said as she called for him. "Sensei!" She cried

"What's wrong?" He asked the shaken up girl

"Miguel got beaten up, it's bad." She said as more tears fell from her eyes

His heart stopped, "where is he?"

She pointed at the boys locker room and pulled him in. She dropped down close to his body, telling him over and over again that she was sorry.
