Twist, Twist, Twist.

ย ย  That was the sound of Morgan's deceased wife trying to open the front door of the house they used as shelter. It was like the woman knew exactly where she was before she died.

Katara remembered the day she died, mostly because it was the day her and Theo came across the town seeking for a place to stay. Morgan refused them but his wife told him not to be so bitter while on her death bed.

"Katara, you need rest" Theodore turned onto his side facing the female that was stationed near the door, her hand on her holster which held her gun. Just in case anything was to occur during the night.

Again, Katara promised Morgan to be on watch while he slept, "I'm fine" she whispered back towards the half asleep male before looking back towards the front door.

Morgan haven't slept correctly in a few days, so she took on the responsibility for him to watch over everything while he finally got sleep in.

After the restock run tomorrow, she'll rest in afterwards but right now, she refused.

"Define your definition of fine" Theodore forced his body up off of the pad and sat onto his butt. He was very tired, but he knew she needed some kind of rest, the woman had bags underneath her eyes.

"You know, mobile" her tired frame slid down the wall and quietly plopped down onto the floor near the door.

Katara and Theodore had met two weeks after the zombie virus spread world wide, she found him holding his little sisters dead corpse. She was bitten and he had shot her before she had the chance to turn.

He was crying his eyes out, but at first her first instinct was to leave him..but she knew exactly how it felt to be alone. So she gave him two options.

She'd help him lay her body to rest and then he joins her on her travels, or he stays with her body and become walkers meat.

And since then, they've survived. And all the people they lost, they help them in memory as they traveled on.

"How about tomorrow, we take turns keeping watch so we could both get to sleep in" Theodore offered an deal with the girl, not leaving her being extremely exhausted alone.

Katara adjusted the deputy jacket on her body before looking at the boy in which she called her brother. "Fine. But go back to sleep or I'll just knock you out again" she joked, keeping her tone and voice down.

The boy rolled his eyes before laying back down on his pad. "Goodnight Kat" he mumbled to the female.

"Goodnight Theo"

"So you really wanted a pony for your eighteenth birthday? I would've thought you wanted a new computer or somethin" Duane laughed silently to himself being cautious.

Katara was currently trimming his hair with clippers, old school clippers that she found.

"Nah, a pony seemed way more funnier, and let me tell you, technology was not all that fun" a grin appeared onto her lips as she spoke aloud. Her southern accent was as thick as the day she left the farm.

"Lies, Computers were so fun, so many games and the internet, you could look up so many cool facts!" He created a debate. Not a day went by and those two didn't have a friendly debate going on.

"Computers are so evil" she was now doing the finishing touches on his hair.

"Nuh uh" he crossed his arms playfully.

It made a small laugh come from her throat before setting the clippers down and removing the white sheet she used from his shoulders.

"Uh huh. Now go wake your father and Theo, the cluster of walkers should've passed by now" she told Duane and the boy hopped up.

"Okay, and thanks again Tara" he kissed her cheek before exiting the bathroom and walking down the few stairs that was their.

A small smile revealed itself when she felt the kiss, but when she looked in the mirror at herself it faded. Everyday since the broadcast aired she wondered why and how she survived this long in this new world.

But her answer was never answered. "You got this" she whispered to her reflection.

Did she though? Not at all but with the help of the three boys, they would always keep her on track.

The female used the hair band on her wrist that she found on her and Theo's last run to tie her hair into an updo to keep her hair out of the way.

And she grabbed the deputy jacket before exiting the bathroom.

"What did you find up there?" Theodore asked as she waited for the female to emerge from the upstairs part of the house they were in. Morgan sent the two on little missions to gather food and clothes that they found, even supplies.

"For starters, clothes and medical supplies" she walked down the stairs keeping the bag open to show him everything that was inside of it.

All of them smelled, mostly because the water supply didn't work in the house, so the odor they had was NOT the best.

"Nice, I swear this house is elite" The boy was chewing on jerky he found as he spoke, making a few of his words come out muffled.

"All of them are, sadly they are now inhabitant or filled with walkers" she closed the bag up, throwing the strap of the bag over her shoulder.

"You know, we could claim one of these houses by Morgan's and live in them, have a very large space all by ourself" he said what was on his mind, cussing her gaze to meet his.

"Your .. serious aren't you?" She asked.

"What's wrong with it? We would still visit Morgan and Duane, I mean we would only be across the street" he tried to help her visualize it.

"Theodore, the human race is practically gone" she started.

"Correct"

"And you speak as if it's so easy to move with all these walkers around, we could barley be outside without our scents driving those mindless things into a frenzy" she made her way to the entrance of the house as she declared her point.

"Didn't think that far into it" he scratched his head.

"But you have to start thinking further, or you'll die in this world because you weren't simply thinking douche" she turned her body and plucked the head of the man behind her. Causing a small 'ow' to fall from his lips.

He was going to say something else until both of them heard a gunshot and their heads snapped towards the outside.

"Go now, I'll cover your back just in case" the boy said removing his hunters blade from his thigh holder and the girl removed her gun from her waist holster.

She held the gun up as she exited the house and ran towards the male who shot the walker. "Morgan! What happened? Are you alright? Is Duane alright?" She questioned so many things at once.

"We're both alright. But this man looks as if he's bit, I don't know if he is or not, Duane hit him too hard" he told her as Theodore went beside Morgan to see the man.

He observed the man seeing that he visibly just came from an hospital. But he had a large patch onto his rib area that kinda confused him too.

"We need to get him inside before walkers come and crowd us all" Theodore told Morgan waiting for him to give him the say so to take him inside.

"Grab him. Duane you follow" Morgan opened the door for Theodore and the male picked up the injured man. Katara had finally looked at the face of the man who was currently unconscious due to the hit of Duane's shovel.

It took her mind a few seconds before finally identifying him as the on duty deputy she kept in contact with until his accident.

"Rick..?" She said underneath her breath being shocked that he's here.
