Part 47

03:59, 7 June 2021

Narrator POV:

Lexa quietly opened the door to her childhood house that she new all to well, down to every knick on the floor.

She could hear muffled voices talking from further in the house but couldn't quite see them. She took a few steps forward, trying to be quiet to get a better look before her next step sent a loud creak through the house and Lexa knew in that moment that it was over.

She was done for.

Her dad came from the side of her body and grabbed her aggressively and tightly so she was trapped under his powerful grip. He pinned down her arms so she couldn't fight before viciously dragging her to the living room.

Clarke.

She was there.

He threw Lexa to the ground next to her. "Are you ok?" Lexa immediately asked Clarke as she looked her up and down, head to toe to make sure she was ok.

"Lexa what's going on?" Clarke begged frantically. She was crying and shaking and freaking out.

"Clarke, listen to me," Lexa said, trying to calm the blonde down. "Are you ok?" She asked again, in a calmer voice. "Yes I'm ok," Clarke said and Lexa let out a sigh of relief.

Lexa turned back to her dad who was currently pointing a gun at her face. And the day keeps getting better.

"You should have known better than to try and sneak in here Alexandria," he said, with a faint and boasting smirk. Lexa didn't say anything, just looked at him with cold and dead eyes.

Lexa tried to stand up and face him but he just hit her in the face with the back of his knuckles. Hard. Knocking her back to the floor. She tried again and he hit her again. Repeatedly.

Every time Lexa was hit, Clarke flinched, trying to look away but she couldn't. She needed to know Lexa was still breathing, even if she had to watch.

Lexa was now bleeding from her nose and the blood seeped into her mouth so blood covered her teeth.

She threw a sloppy punch with her left hand, which was odd because she was right handed, and he caught it. Her fist was resting in his larger hand as his other one hit her elbow really hard and sent a loud crack through the air. Lexa cried out in pain at it.

"Stop it," Clarke finally yelled, pleading to him at the sight and piercing sound of Lexa's scream. Both their attention turned to her now.

"Clarke no," Lexa said but she couldn't get up again, against all her efforts, her body betrayed her.

Her dad focused on the blonde now. This was Lexa's worst nightmare. He walked over so he was standing directly in front of Clarke.

"I thought you were smarter than that Alexandria. You tried to sneak in and out smart me but now you have to watch me hurt the woman you love," her father said with a wicked grin, staring at Clarke.

Lexa started to chuckle now and her father and Clarke looked at her confused.

"What's so funny?" Her dad barked at her as his anger level grew at the confusion.

"It's funny because I do think I am smarter than you," Lexa said as she spit blood from her mouth onto the floor at his feet.

"How is that so?" Her father said, stepping closer to her as if he wanted desperately at cut her throat out at every word.

"You think stepping on that squeaky floorboard was an accident? I know this house upside down and backwards. I know what stairs not to step on to be quiet, I know how far to twist the doorknob before it clicks, I know the exact pressure to pull the door on before it makes any noise. And I also know every floorboard in this house and the sound it makes. It wasn't an accident I stepped on that one. I did it on purpose." Lexa said with a wide grin as she glared back into his eyes.

Before her dad could say anything in retaliation, there was a bang at the door. "COME OUT NOW AND RELEASE THE HOSTAGES BEFORE WE FORCEFULLY COME IN" someone yelled from behind the door.

"What did you do?" Her dad said in a rage as he looked from the door, back to his daughter.

*1 hour earlier when Lexa got the call*

Lexa POV:

"Hey, Clarke where are you? You should be back by now," I said as I smiled into my phone.

"Hello Alexandria," The voice on the other line said back. My face fell instantly and I stood up rigidly from my seated position on the couch.

"What?" Raven said in worry but I didn't have time. I put my hand out to silence her.

"I have your blonde girlfriend here with me," he said through the phone and I really wanted to hit something right now. I wanted to hit him.

"I think I will have fun with this one, I like her better than the last one, feistier." He said before he hung up the phone, not letting Lexa even get the chance to say anything else.

"What's going on?" Raven asked and Luna was looking between me and her girlfriend.

"Uh-you need to go," I said to her. I knew it clearly wasn't what she was expecting but my mind was moving too fast to handle right now.

"Excuse me?" Raven said bitterly as she crossed her arms. If she knew what that phone calls was, she definitely wouldn't be acting like this. I couldn't focus on that or her attitude at the moment so I turned to Luna. I knew she would listen.

"Luna, I need you to take Raven back to your house for tonight," I said in the calmest way possible as to not startle her. Clearly failed though. "What? Why?" She asked, confused and concern lacing her words.

"Please just do it. Take her home, go out the back way. I know it's longer but please just do it. Go home, watch a movie, keep the lights low, or better, off,m. Don't go on social media, don't answer any texts from anyone and I mean ANYONE, and don't answer the door unless it is Abby, or Clarke and only them. Understand?" I said in one big breath like I had been training for this my whole life. Both Raven and Luna didn't know what to say.

"Please just tell me what's going on?" Raven pleaded in confusion, now very worried. "Luna," I said, turning to her and giving her a look to trust me. I needed her to listen because now more than anything was when she needed to trust me.

"Let's go," Luna said after a moment of looking intently into my eyes to make sure I was absolutely positive. She spoke to Raven as she took her to her room to pack some things for the night.

They came out a few minutes later and Raven was trying to resist but at the end of the day, she went with Luna.

"Luna, do what I said, promise me," I said eagerly at the door. "I promise," she said as she put Raven in the car and I watched them drive out the driveway and until I couldn't see the car anymore.

I went to Abby next. I was beyond lucky she was home today. "Abby?" I said as I walked into her room. Nerves started to take over my body now.

"Hey sweetie is everything ok?" She asked and I almost broke right there. How do I tell her that her daughter is in the hands of a mad man that also happens to be my father.

"No," I said to her as tears came down her cheeks. "I need to tell you something and I need you not to freak out and listen carefully," I said as I saw her face start to freak out.

*present time*

Narrator POV:

"What did you do?" He spat angrily.

He took another look back to the door and Lexa capitalized on this moment. She stood up quickly and punched him hard in the face with her right hand while he wasn't looking. Then she kicked him in the gut and his back thumped to the ground.

This was the moment she was waiting for. The moment her was distracted, not thinking she could fight back. She was saving her strength for this, making him think she was weak and in control. It was all falling into place.

"Clarke," she said with relief as she turned around to face her. Clarke got up and threw her arms around her in a tight hug. Lexa flinched a little at her damaged arm but quickly melted into her touch.

She then quickly pulled away because they had to leave. They had to get out of this god forsaken house.

Lexa grabbed onto Clarke's hands as she led her quickly through the house.

"Stop," a loud and domineering voice shouted and Lexa froze while also pulling Clarke behind her. Shielding her and protecting her.

Lexa's dad was pointing a gun right at her head and she was still holding Clarke hand but behind her so the only way Clarke could be shot is if it went through Lexa first.

"Where do you think you're going?" He said, wiping her blood covered chin from the blows Lexa gave to him.

Lexa didn't answer and started to take small steps back, unnoticeable by her father who was too intent on the gun in his hands to notice. She did it until she got around to a corner of a wall before stopping.

"Clarke go," Lexa said to her but she didn't move. "Clarke now!" Lexa said louder as she let go of her hand and nudged her around the wall to the door.

"You bitch," her dad muttered as he watched Clarke escape for his grasps and run away, out of his line of fire. Safe.

Clarke POV:

"Clarke now!" Lexa screamed at me. I didn't want to go. I wanted to stay with her but I knew she wanted me to leave.

So I ran. I ran around the wall that Lexa pushed me behind and then ran down the hall. I got to the door and I stopped. I didn't want to leave her. I looked back but I couldn't see Lexa anymore.

I tried to listen but my mind was racing too fast and thinking too loud. The only thing I could hear was the sound of my breathing and the incessant thumping of my heart. Which was beating very, very fast.

I opened the door, ready to leave, ready to be free and make my exit. But I couldn't make my feet step forward. I couldn't move my body out of the door.

I closed my eyes for a moment after staring out of the door. Complete darkness consumed my vision and body. I took a deep breath and I was about to run out of the house when I heard a gunshot that stopped me in my tracks.

No.
