Jump
19:47, 21 January 2015This chapter was hard to write because I know nothing about bungee jumping. Google helped a lot. Sorry if it's not up to standard:(
Louise's POV
The rest of our stay in Hawaii ran smoothly and it was safe to say that Hawaii was one of the best places I had ever been to in my life. Not only that, but I had had some amazing moments there too.
"Ed, this plane goes to Harare International Airport, not Heathrow." I told him.
Currently, we were at the airport ready to board our plane back to Heathrow Airport in London. To say that I was sad about going back home was an understatement. I just wanted the excitement to continue. I loved being spontaneous especially since the painkillers I'd been prescribed were working amazingly...well, nearly amazingly...
"Yeah, that's because we're going to Harare International Airport." Ed replied.
"What? Where's that?" I was beyond confused.
"Zimbabwe." He shrugged casually.
"Woah, what?!" My eyes widened and my jaw dropped. I noticed Ed's expression changed into a huge, smug, grin once he saw my amazement.
"We're going to Victoria Falls Bridge." He elaborated. "I Googled that it was one of the best places in the world to go bungee jumping when I was booking our flight here. So I thought, I might as well book a flight there too, and a bungee jump."
"Bungee jumping?" I gaped.
"It's on the Bucket List, is it not?" He was like my fairy godmother. Well, godfather.
"You're joking, right?!" I couldn't believe this. I was no longer upset about leaving Hawaii.
"It's supposed to be in this spectacular setting with beautiful scenery. You basically stand in the no mans land between Zambia and Zimbabwe and the waterfall is right behind you." Ed explained and my smile just grew and grew.
"Oh my God." I was almost speechless.
"I only booked a jump for you though. I'm adventurous yeah, but not that adventurous. I came into this world because of a broken rubber, I don't intend on leaving it because of the same thing." Ed said.
"Scaredy cat." I teased even though I was still dazed by the fact that he had actually organised all this for me.
"Oh, also, the drop is 111 metres and beneath you is the Zambezi river where many crocodiles are known to linger around..." Ed nearly laughed.
"Sorry, what? Crocodiles?" My happy expression instantly changed.
"Surprise!" Ed smirked.

We were only staying in Zimbabwe for 2 days and 1 night, and as soon as we reached the hotel by Victoria Falls Bridge, I instantly fell in love. Everything was so pretty and flowery; it had a nature sort of vibe and I loved it.
"Look at the view!" I beamed as I gazed out of the huge window of our hotel. "It's beautiful."
"Yeah, it really is." Ed's eyes were transfixed on me as he walked up and kissed me on the cheek, not looking out the window.
"Not me, the waterfall you cringey idiot." I nudged him with a grin, at a poor attempt to mask my light blush.
"Oh yeah, that. It's cool." He shrugged and fell on to the bed as I shook my head in disbelief.
We had slept off all our jet lag and I was booked for my bungee jump in half an hour. I was both excited and petrified.
Not only that, but I kept getting pains in my legs, my arms, my stomach...everywhere really. Although I wouldn't tell Ed of course. The pain only lasted about ten minutes and then would subside, so I wasn't worrying too much. I still had my pain killers.
"I can't believe I'm going to jump off that bridge." I studied the bridge from my window.
"You scared?"
"Pfft, me? Scared?" I waved him off.
"You're terrified." Ed stated, so sure of himself.
"Yep."
"Don't be." He stood up and held both my hands in both of his. "What's the worst that can happen?"
I die. But, then again, I'm going to die anyway.
"True." I agreed. "Okay, let's do this thing!"
"That's the spirit!" Ed grinned.
We got ready and then made our way to the place where I was supposed to get briefed and ready for the jump. My heart was pounding rapidly in my chest as someone weighed me and told me about their bungee experience.
"Remind me why I put this on my Bucket List again?" I asked Ed once the instructor explained the dangers of bungee jumping.
"Because it sounded cool." Ed replied.
Well, it didn't sound too cool right now.
"Edward Sheeran?" A man approached Ed.
"Yep, that's me." Ed shook the man's hand.
"And this must be the jumper." The man looked at me. "I'm Louis."
"Louise." I smiled realising our names were similar.
"I'm going to strap you in once you're on the bridge and tell you when to jump and then there will be two people in a boat down at the river to take you back to land." He explained.
"Cool." I nodded.
"You have to stay here," He told Ed. "Please feel free to take videos and photos."
"Okay." Ed nodded. "See you on the other side, Lou."
"Oh God." I replied and Ed wrapped me in his arms, giving me a warm hug. "See you on the other side."
I followed Louis up many sets of stairs to the very top of bridge and he wrapped and strapped me into numerous different things. A single elastic chord was securely fastened to my ankle and I realised it was the thing that was going to bounce me back up: the bungee.
I looked down, it was a very long way away. Luckily, I wasn't too afraid of heights.
"When you're ready, jump." Louis smiled.
"What? Just like that? You're joking, right?" I looked at him as if he was a psycho.
"Nope." He shook his head.
"Just. Jump?"
"Mhmm." He nodded.
"Are you sure?" I questioned.
"Positive." He assured.
"But-"
"Louise, for the love of God, just jump!" I heard Ed yell from all the way down. He had super sonic hearing...or maybe I was just being a bit too loud.
"Shut up!" I shouted back.
"You'll be fine, don't worry." Louis smiled.
I took a few deep breaths. This was it. It was now or never.
I jumped.
"Holy shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit!!" I screamed from the top of my lungs, as I fell head first.
The wind flew harshly through me and I felt uplifted and as free as a bird. I fell all the way down and my head skimmed the river, then I bounced back up, still screaming my head off.
The jump was so smooth and the "Holy shit" moment only lasted a few seconds. I felt so alive and just so...I couldn't describe it. The feeling that overcomes you is just so magical.
I couldn't stop smiling throughout it all but eventually the jump came to an end and an inflatable boat came towards me in the river and unstrapped me. They took me back to land and as soon as I saw Ed, I ran into his arms.
"That was amazing!" I exclaimed as his arms securely wrapped themselves around my waist.
"And I got it all on camera...well, phone but you know." He said as we pulled away.
"These past few days have been amazing and it's all down to you." I thanked.
"Well, you know what they say: live in the moment." Ed replied.
"Yeah, I can't believe it. I just jumped 111 metres!" I shook my head in disbelief. "It was phenomenal."
"Bungee jumping, check." Ed smiled. "This list is easy."
"I don't want it to end!" I whined.
"Then don't end it." Ed simply answered. "We can do anything. We can fly to Berlin, Tokyo or Jamaica. We can go were you want, say the word and I'll take you."
"Paris. I want to see the Eiffel Tower." I told him, getting giddy.
"Your wish is my command." Ed smiled.
I was living the dream.
